Installing Cumulative Updates

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 06, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi,

On a 2 Node SQL Cluster, I run the SQL installation on the Primary Node. I then run SQL setup on the secondary node using the 'add node to failover cluster' option within Setup. I then run SP1 on the Primary Node then run the Cumulative Update (not tested SP2 yet with our apps).

My question is - do I need to run the Cumulative Update on both nodes or will running it on the Primary Node replicate over?

Installing SQL Server cumulative updates

I am running SQL 2005 32-bit on Windows Server 2008 64-bit. Do I require the X64 or the I386 cumulative updates? I'm not sure if the X64/I386 designation on the updates applies to the OS or the Application. I expect it will probably tell me if I try to install the wrong one but I thought I would ask first.

Can the cumulative updates be installed during the 2010 upgrade before the configuration wizard is r

For an in-place upgrade of MOSS 2007 Enterprise to SharePoint 2010 Enterprise done by running the installation package, cancelling out of running the configuration wizard, installing all of the cumulative updates, and then run the configuration wizard one time? The "Understanding Updates for SharePoint" white paper states: It is possible to successfully install service packs, hotfixes, and language packs and their updates all at the same time, and only run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard one time. However, the environment will not be accessible between installing the first update and the final update and running the configuration wizard. It would be nice if this also applied to the 2010 upgrade to say on some machine time. Thanks!Eric

Problem installing Cumulative Update 6 for SQL 2008 SP1 on Windows XP

I am attempting to apply SQL Server 20008 SP1 Cumulative Update 6 on my Windows XP desktop. The update executable is unpacked and I get a brief flash of a Command Screen and then nothing. I have searched for any update files but have not found any. My Desktop Configuration: Windows XP SP3, Windows Installer 4. SQL Server 2008 SP1 Developer Edition. I am also attempting to install the Client Tools for SQL 2008R2 on this same desktop and am getting the same results. I click on SETUP and get a brief flash of the Command Screen and the installation does not continue. Internet searches speak of a problem with a registry entry in the Boostrap Key for a valid Setup directory, but this key exists in my desktop registry. Thanks,

Version not changed after installing Cumulative Update

I installed the August Cumulative Update, but the version number didn't update on my system.  The install processed successfully (at least no errors showed up).  How do I confirm the installation?

Thank you.

All SharePoint 2007 & 2010 Cumulative Updates Unavailable??

As far as I can tell, all SharePoint 2007 and 2010 Cumulative Updates are unavailable -- trying to download any of them goes to a page saying that the hotfix download page is unavailable.

Anyone know if they are working on this problem, or any idea when the site will be working again?

Do they have any ftp site they can fall back on, when their web service platform fails like this?

Need Dec2008 or Feb2009 SharePoint Cumulative updates for pre-SP2 testing.

Hi,

I am trying to download the cumulative update package for MOSS for either december 2008 or Febuary 2009, I can find the WSS package not problem, but the MOSS package is not found.

I get this - http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=960011&kbln=en-us

I have looked and looked, but found no where to download these updates.  And I do NOT want to have to call MS just to pay $600 for MS to send them to me...

What gives?

Trouble installing SQL Server 2008 Cumulative 4

I have a server that is currently at 10.00.2723 (CU3).  I want to patch it to 10.00.2734 (CU4).  The service pack installer tells me that it can not find an instance of SQL Server on the machine.

SQL Server 2008 Enterprise x64
Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
This is a VM using VMware

Any body have suggestions, run into this before, etc..?

Hotfix request links to Cumulative Updates 9 and 10 for SP1 do not work

Last week I was able to obtain CU9 for SQL Server 2008 SP1.  This week, I cannot even make a request for CU10 or CU9.  Since Saturday, I have received the following reply whenver I click on a hotfix link:  Hotfix Request
The system is currently unavailable. Please try back later, or contact support if you want immediate assistance.http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support

If I attempt to contact support in any way, they want to charge me.  What is going on?

SQL Server 2008 offline while installing Cumulative update

I've been asked to install SQL 2008 CU 10 for SP1 and was wondering if the sql server is still available during the install of the cumulative update.  Is a restart necessary after installing a cumulative update?  I don't have a test machine and I need to apply it to a production server.

Thanks

Applying cumulative updates

Hi

Does anyone have instructions for applying a cumulative update?  Does SQL have to be online or offline? If online, does it need to be online on the active node (if you are installing the update on the passive node)?

Thanks

October Cumulative Updates for Moss 2007 & WSS

Does anyone have any idea when the October 2010 cuulative updates for Moss & WSS will be released?

I'm hoping it will include the fix for the MS10-072 vulnerability.

SQL 2008 R2 Cumulative Updates Unavailable

When I go to the KB article 2345451 and click the link "View and request hotfix downloads" I just get the error:

"The system is currently unavailable. Please try back later, or contact support if you want immediate assistance."

It has been this way for several days now.  When will this be fixed so that I can download Cumulative Update package 4 for SQL Server 2008 R2?

Search function Inop after installing the latest Microsoft Updates

I recently downloaded and installed 46 patches and updates to my share point (2007) test servers without issue, but when I did the same to my live environment something happened and I've lost my search functionality. Has anyone had this same issue and what do I look for to fix it?
