We had merge replication running (about 10 remote subscriptions) with no problems on SQL Server 2008 R1 evaluation version. One day everything stopped working and the log files told us that the evaluation period had expired (we had forgotten we were
on evaluation version and there were no warnings that I saw). We uninstalled the R1 Evaluation version and installed 2008 R2 full version on the server.
I was able to reattach my mdf database to the new server instance, but the publication data did not get restored. I've read some posts about this and I think I have to restore the master.mdf and model.mdf in order to replace the replication to where
it was when the system went down. I do not know how to do this. I tried reattaching the master and model mdfs but that action failed.
Can someone guide me? I'm very much hoping we can restore this to the day SQL Server went down and maintain all replication settings so the clients can just start synchronizing again as if nothing had happened.
