Determine No of records per page

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 06, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

We have embedded SSRS 2008 reports into a web page using report viewer. Few reports are list reports, few are tablix with group by functions. Other reports using group are working fine, however we have group report which is displaying the records in a single page around 2000 records. If the parameter is changed to fetch 5000 records, again its in 1 page while other reports are splitting records into different pages.

Any idea? Why other reports using grouping have multiple page while this report doesnt?

Determine if the page required authentication?

I'm using Forms Authentication.  Is there a way to determine whether a page (or request) required authentication or not?  My site has logged-in areas, and logged-out areas (all set in web.config under authorization sections), and I'd like a good way to know if asp.net required authentication to be set or not.

I'm using ASP.Net 2.0

displaying 2 alternating db records with each new page load event

I have a webpage which displays content drawn from a single record in a database table. I've been asked to change this so that the content displayed alternates between 2 records each time the page is requested by a browser (I guess this would equate to each PageLoad event).

The records to be displayed are chosen on the basis of two dates, a beginning date and and ending date, that define a time period in which the record is to be active. The table containing these records has 2 columns containing these dates (begin date is contained in "dtDisplay" and end date is "lastDisplay."

I'm not sure how to amend the existing code behind to make this happen. Here is the c# that I inherited from a developer who is no longer available. Thanks for any help:

private void getfeatured_properties()
           string today = DateTime.Now.Date.ToString();

           SqlCommand cmd = common.openDatabase();
           if (cmd.Connection.State == ConnectionState.Open)
                 string sql = "select propID from featured_properties where " +
                    "dtDisplay <= '" + today + "' and " +
                    "lastDisplay >= '" + today + "'";

Determine if page was from redirect of loaded directly

I have 2 aspx pages.

When you fill out the form and hit submit, it takes you to the secondary page. that working.

What I'm having a problem with is I have a label on the secondary page that's supposed to be visible if you get redirected form the first page. If you load the page directly, you shouldn't see the label.

What is the best way for me to find out if I was redirected or not?

ispostback I don't think is going to work cause I'm using response.redirect because of the vb on the code behind. I at one point set the postback url, but that wouldn't fire the code in the code behind.

Thanks in advance.

How can I send a page to a Records Center in Sharepoint 2007?

I have created a records center. I want to use it as a news-archive if it is possible.

When users create new pages (web part pages, basic page- whatever) i want to have the ability to right click and choose "send to" records center like you can on documents. Is it even possible? And how do i achieve this?

It works fine sending docs to the records center. But i do not get the option when i right click on pages (.aspx files)

How to break records in multiple columns on the same SSRS page

Changing the graphics on the home page of a SharePoint site

When you create a site in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by using the default Team Site template, the home page includes two default graphics. A Windows SharePoint Services graphic appears in the body of the page, and a picture of a house in a circle appears near the site title. You can change these graphics to customize your site. Changing the smaller graphic requires a Windows SharePoint Services compatible Web page editor

ASP.NET GridView - edit records using JQuery Dialog

There are many ways in which you could modify modular data in Grid View:
1. Inline by making rows editable when u click on Edit
2. By using separate pages for Edit
3. By using popups/dialogs for adding/editing

Reduce ASP.NET Page size and complexity using JQuery

This is my first post on asp.net blog. ASP.NET Ajax and JQuery are two different ajax framework. In this post I will show, how we can enhance gridview using ASP.NET Ajax and JQuery. I also compare the implementation of these frameworks. In next posts i will explain more about JQuery and ASP.NET Ajax and also tell you "How to combine the power of both framework". My Future post will related to ASP.NET and related frameworks.

Determine whether Forms Server is installed on a server

Check whether the Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.dll and FormServer.aspx files are installed on the server.

I have 2 web pages. First page has a textbox and a button control.

when I enter test and click on the button , system goes to the second page. And in the second page I want to access the Textbox in the first page. When I try to do this I get the following error.

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Following is my code :

Dim txt As New TextBox

' Find the server name on the previous page
txt = CType(Page.PreviousPage.FindControl("TextBox2"), TextBox)
If Not IsNothing(txt) Then
Response.Write("[Name Not available]")
End If

I know I could do this with session, but I want to use the Page.PreviousPage.FindControl. Any help is greatly appreciated

Unique content within master page based on conditions met

 Hi all-

I would like to present users with unique content based on certain conditions being met as they land on the home page (default.aspx).  The condition logic will be in the VB code behind Page Load event. The content will go in a content placeholder as specificed from the master page.

However, the content change wouldn't be something small (ie making a panel or label visible or not) but rather it will be different HTML,  Divs and databound gridview content.  The HTML content will be stored in the database.

Can someone point me in the right direction for best practices on how to accomplish this?

Launch CMD File From ASPX Page

My organization uses a CMD file to install updated files for a major enterprise application. Currently, we send out an email to users with a link to the file and instructions to run it, BUT inevitably users don't update their machines until their in field and try to start the app.

We're now liking the idea of using an ASPX page to prompt the users to run the updates and to capture the fact that the updates have been run. I realize that we can't capture the success or failure of the update. But we'd like to capture the user accessed the page.

Is it possible to embed into the markup for the page a link to the file on the local intranet that the users can click on to run the file?

The user accessing the page would capture that they did just that. We'd deal with wether or not the update was actually installed or if it failed later with them directly.
