I am to create a bunch of SSIS packages for a customer who wants to maintain these packages afterwards with Business Intelligence Development Studio. To speed up the development process, I have started generating the packages from .NET code.
When I open my generated packages in Business Intelligence Development Studio, one thing is missing: Annotations on paths between data flow components.
For packages created in Business Intelligence Development Studio, output paths for components of type lookup and conditional split are (by default) annotated with "Lookup Match Output" (or "Lookup No Match Output") for lookups, and output name of the condition
for conditional splits. This makes it much easier to read and understand the data flow.
I can easily annotate paths for my generated packages if I open them in Business Intelligence Development Studio and change the PathAnnotation property of all paths, but I strongly prefer to do this from my .NET code instead.
My question is: Is it possible to create a path annotation for the non-error output of a data flow component from .NET code? (I should note that error outputs of my generated components are always annotated, not that I am aware of having done anything specific
to obtain this).
