Huge XML file update

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 06, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

hi,

hope i'm in the right forum...

anyway, my problem is following : i have really huge xml file and don't want to load it into memory. For reading values, i'm streaming through that (i'm using external library which supports streaming based on xpath which is great). However, i face issues when i need to update that file like e.g. add new attribute to element or update its value...

so the question is : does anybody know of any common approach to that problem (if exists :-) ) or any external library providing this functionality ?

thanks for any help

Lubos

Huge temdb and msdb data file after Cleanup Task

I've run the History Cleanup Task has a maintenance job.

After the job ran successfully, I noticed that the data files of msdb and temdb are over 2 GB of size. I've tried to shrink both databases and I didn't get much. It is normal to have the tempdb over 3 GB after run History Cleanup Task even when this is was not the size of the database tempdb before run the History Cleanup Task ??

Deploy and update script file with custom ribbon tab to Sharepoint Server 2010

Hey everyone,

currently I'm building a custom tab for Sharepoint Server 2010 and at the moment I'm stuck on the following issue,
with the first debug deployment Visual Studio sends the .js file that provides some functions for the ribbon elements from Scripts folder in the VS project
to Sharepoint Server.
However, it won't apply any changes I did on the script afterwards to the file on the server.
So the effect is, that as soon as I do the next debug, the previous script is being used by Sharepoint and the new version, containing the new code, is left aside.

It seems to me as if Visual Studio would only deploy the .js file just once and then rely to this copy, maybe there are some configuration settings to make, but after hours of research, I still can't figure out where things do go wrong or what configuration to apply to update the script on the server.
I couldn't locate the file on hdd either, even searched the whole fs but the results showed only the new script file.

Any help on this would be very much appreciated, this issue drives me nuts and consumes plenty of time ;)

Workaround at the moment: each time the script is changed, set up new project... :D

Restore database from system dbs and log file when .mdf file size set to 0KB after Windows Update ?

This can't be right. Friday I tried to install some Windows updates including ‘Security Update for …Windows Server 2008 for x64-based Systems (KB2416473)’ on both my host Server 2008 box and on a VM instance of Server 2008 running on the same physical box. An important SQL Server 2008 instance lives on that VM.

The above mentioned update failed on both the host and the VM, but a system shutdown and reboot were required for both OS’s anyway. When SQL Server started up again on the VM, the *.MDF file size for 2 (out of maybe 15 total) databases had been reduced to 0KB. Additionally, 1 of accompanying *.LDF files was now also 0KB in size, while the other *.LDF file was probably its normal size of 2.9GB. All the other databases and log files, including Master.mdf, seem to be okay.

I’m new to SQL Server and have a couple of questions of cours

How to connect text file data to native SharePoint lists with auto update?

I have to pull external data from a text file to a SharePoint list on a daily base. Additional column content (e.g. attachments) in SharePoint should be kept during update. There should be RSS feeds, email notifications or workflows on external data change (so delete all items and import new will not work).

I've found this codeless 3rd party solution with automatic background update (and write-back???):

Any other idea? BDC-based? Thanks.
