To update Access 2010 DB, that was published on Sharepoint, from another DB.

If I have published Access 2010 application on Sharepoint and i want to update this application (on Sharepoint)   every hour from external DB (can be used ODBC connection for example). What is the best way to do it?

I have published an Access 2010 database to Sharepoint 2010.  It is pretty basic and essentially it is just used for teachers to enter lesson plans.  When viewing the site there is a form that has several dropdown menus.  The user should be able to choose their name, date, etc. from these dropdown menus.  The problem is that when I click on a dropdown menu the menu just shows a message that says "This service isn't available right now".  I also get a message that pops up which says "You do not have permission to view the records.  To obtain permission contact your site administrator."

The weird thing is that when I was testing this at one point I clicked the dropdown menu and it did work.  I clicked off the dropdown menu and went right back to it again and it didn't work.

I have anonymous access enabled for this site.  However, I have tried it with an anonymous user as well as with the user account that installed Sharepoint and published the database to Sharepoint and it doesn't work either way.

Is this a permission issue on the site or something else?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

SharePoint 2010 Cumulative Update - Install sequence - Foundation required or not?

  
For a SharePoint 2010 Server (not Foundation) environment, is it necessary to install the Foundation Cumulative Update as well as the Server Cumulative Update?  (In the same way that with 2007, you install the WSS update and then the MOSS update) The nearest I have found to an answer is here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sharepoint/ff800847.aspx where it says 'We recommend that you always install SharePoint Foundation 2010 patches before installing SharePoint Server 2010 patches. This best practice ensures that you will always be successful when installing updates.'   In this regard, should 2010 Foundation be thought of as a pre-req, or underlying component, for 2010 Server?   The same question applies to the use of the Updates folder in the install media - for a Server install, should we be extracting both the Foundation and Server Cumulative Updates there, for a correct slipstreamed install?   Thanks.   Rob

custom timer job Access denied sharepoint 2010

  
Hi, I have a question regarding to custom timer job will be happy if you could help us. The problem is that - owstimer.exe running the timer job crashes. - Question why? Launch debugg in the feature - running the timer job is falling on taskJob.Update (); writes SecurityException  I developed the Job TIMER on moss2007 that everything worked, Now we turned from 2007 to sharepoint 2010 and Job TIMER does not work. I tried to note all of the code is inside the function Execute in  job timer might have something to code blocks. But it also did not help. Eventvwr he writes in the following error: The description for Event ID 0 from source Application can not be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: Custom Timer Jobs: func FeatureActivated Access denied. the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string / message table what the solution to that-timer job that will work? Hi    We are using sharepoint 2010  for internet facing sites for our big client in healthcare domain .  I am using XSLT list view webpart in sharepoint designer 2010 for retrieving contents from sharepoint list & displaying it by using XSLT List view webpart in publishing sites. We are having lot of list in rootsite collection, If i am creating pages by using XSLt list view webpart in root site collection I can access the list,View and Display in Pages by XSLT List view webpart. Now the requirement is i have to access the list in roosite collection(parent site) from subsites.  In Sharepoint designer 2010, while i am inserting XSLT list view webpart, i could not find datasource to access the list that exist in rootsite collection(Parent site) from subsite. Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy Access Denied on Tenant Administration Site

  
Hi, I am currently implementing a Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy solution. Multi-tenancy is the partitioning of service applications in 2010 to allow data to be separated between web applications or site collections. I am using multi-tenancy to separate data and user profiles between site collections hosted on a single web application. I have partitioned the User Profile Service Application and Proxy using Windows Powershell. The paritioned Proxy Application is then associated with the single web application. I am also using the Sharepoint Foundation Subscription Service Application to subscribe to different site collections within the web application. In this way data and user profiles can be separated. However, the tenant administration site, used to manage each collection, does not allow administrator access to manage the User Profile Service. I receive a standard Sharepoint 'Access Denied' error message. No other errors or details are provided. I have tried assigning different accounts to the tenant administration site but the error still appears. The issue arises when I issue the following SPSite Powershell cmdlet: NEW-SPSite -Owneralias DOMAIN\Username -Secondaryowneralias DOMAIN\Username. The attributes provided in the Cmdlet above are used to assign tenant site administrators however, the accounts cannot access the User Profile Service. Any ideas or recommendati

Access Denied/The workflow could not copy the item workflow error after Sharepoint 2010 upgrade

  
We have a sharepoint designer workflow that copies a document from one library to another on the same site.  Before the upgrade to 2007 it worked fine, but now with 2010 it gives an error and cancels the workflow when it gets to the copy list item step.   The error on the workflow page: The workflow could not copy the item. Make sure the source and destination lists have the same columns and column settings.  Access Denied   Specifically it is the "copy list item current item to documentlibrary" sharepoint designer workflow action.   I have given the system account full permissions to the library and double checked that all columns are the same in both libraries. Problems with access to external lists in SharePoint 2010

  
Our environment is SharePoint 2010 Enterprise, Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard and SQL server 2008 R2.   We have External lists that access a local database in SharePoint SQL Server. When new lists are added and permissions are given in the SharePoint Central Administration the domain users had to be in the Windows administration group to access the lists.   Recently in the same environment the domain users were removed from Windows Administration user group and could access the external lists.   In another similar test server we found adding the domain users to Windows Administration does not give the new domain users access to External lists.   The inconsistency is the issue. Has anyone seen this issue or provide a possible solution?

SharePoint 2010 organization installation without access to Central Administration?

  
Our organization of 5000+ internal users and 1000 external vendors wants to integrate SharePoint 2010. We are are being mandated to use an offering of SharePoint 2010 in the cloud. All peer organizations are also being told to use this service, and we are all going to be on a single SP farm. We want to have several internal site collections, customization of MySites, an extranet, and a public facing site. We will not have the ability to access central administration ourselves, we have to go through a centralized state IT department and have them make changes for us. We will only have admin abilities for our own site collections. Installing 3rd party web parts will be a nightmare process as well as making small changes to central admin resources as we are dependent on their time-line to test and integrate these for us. What issues are we likely to see because of this, and is this even a feasible option for us? BTW, they do not uphold SLA agreements and currently they sometimes take days or weeks to fix issues, where our people would take care of it in hours if possible.
