How can I add custom Search Paging webpart in the Search results page in MOSS 2007

I have created a Basic webpart page and added Content editor webpart to extend the functionality of Advanced Search webpart. This is working fine. Also added OOB Search Paging webpart int his page. But when the number of items returned by the Search Core results webpart exceeds the Page size (10) then when I click on the next link in the Paging webpart then all results are lost and retrieved from All Sites scope. Is there any way to hook into the Search paging webpart.?

Please note that in the Content Editor webpart I have used custom search scope.

I need help with regard to this.

Thanks in advance!.

MOSS 2007 Search - All Sites vs. This Site

Environment - MOSS 2007 Enterprise SP 2

I noticed that the search bar in SharePoint defaults to "All Sites".  I have a dropdown arrow where I can change it to "This Site" which is relative to whatever site I am on.  How can I configure the search to default to "This Site" instead of "All Sites"?

MOSS 2007 - Only site Collection Administrators can access Default.aspx

I have MOSS 2007, and there is a strange problem: on Default.aspx page can access only site Collection Administrators. Other users take this access denied message:

Error: Access Denied

Current User

You are currently signed in as: domain**\user**

Sign in as a different user

Request access

On other pages they can access, by example on http://portal/_layouts/settings.aspx other users can access(if they have these rights).

Other users are members of Owners Group(Root site > People and Groups > Home Owners(in "Group Settings" there is Full Control checkbox).
They are also added to Site Settings > Permissions directly with Full Control. no effect.

I think it is very strange, it looks like some permissions for root page are broken..

Site Directory Search MOSS 2007

I have a web running with a site directory template and I added a tab for a search page which contains all the standard search page parts.  The scope is set so that the list items will show (as well as the lists themselves, but I digress).  The problem is that clicking a list item link takes the user to the list item as opposed to the url that the list item contains.  I'm trying to figure out how to set up a managed property linked to the crawled property that the url field would correspond to.  The idea being that I can add that property to the search core results part and work the xslt to fit the link in there.  Am I approaching this the best way?  Any suggestions?

How to create a single entry page for site collections in MOSS 2007

I have  7 site collections containing a few hundred team collaboration sites. Some users are internal (intranet) but most are external (extranet). Extranet users are experiencing problems with losing links to their sites and forgetting which URLs to use. So I would like to create a single entry page that all users can enter after the logon process, which shows a list of sites they have permission to access, and other user-specific information. Perhaps relevant documents, tasks, recently modified documents etc.

I know this sounds like a 'My Site' but we want to use use a general welcome page instead. We use Windows authentication.
What is the best way of doing this and is it something that can be done in SharePoing Designer or does it need to be done in Visual Studio?

Many thanks in advance.

Customizing Search Results page in MOSS

The Search Results page in MOSS seems to list the results as links by default. My customer asked me if I could customize the search results so that they show in a data view web part. Is this possible?

Portal Search Work - Site Collection Search Does Not

In our SharePoint installation we have an SSP which indexes local office sharepoint server sites.  However there is a problem, although we can do portal searches which reveal search results it is not able to do local searches at the site collection level and as a result we are presented with the typical error below.

No results matching your search were found.

  1. Check your spelling. Are the words in your query spelled correctly?
  2. Try using synonyms. Maybe what you're looking for uses slightly different words.
  3. Make your search more general. Try more general terms in place of specific ones.
  4. Try your search in a different scope. Different scopes can have different results.

I am unsure as to why this strange event is occuring.  We do not have the WSS Search component running in the MOSS environment as the SSP service should be able to index and server search queries at the portal and local site collection level.

Any thoughts to this?

Custom Site Column in MOSS 2007

Hello, We have a request to add List in a List, for example, one of the column in the list should contain a table...so, created a custom column "Column with HTML Table" from the list of publishing fields...but, somehow, I dont seem to find that site column any more... That column type is "Publishing HTML", and it allows to define HTML table. I am unable to add a screenshot here...so, any clues? Also, can we copy the custom site column as a template and move it to another Site Collection? Regards, Kishore.  Kishore

SharePoint Search not working on one site collection

I am running into some weird behavior with how SharePoint is crawling site/list data.  Let's say our main intranet site is http://www.intranet.com: Most of our older sites are setup with URLs like http://www.intranet.com/sites/sitename .  Crawling is working fine on these sites and I can execute a search and find all of the results I would expect.  At some point recently (before I joined this firm), they made a decision that all new sites would have the URL http://www.intranet.com/SiteDirectory/sitename .  Any sites which fall into this bucket are not being crawled, it would seem. If I check Central Adman>Shared Services>Search Administration, I can see that the first content source being crawled is http://www.intranet.com so I would imagine this crawl should pick up anything under /SiteDirectory/ but it is not.  I also checked the Crawl Settings on this page and it is set to "Crawl everything under the hostname for each start address".  Lastly, I see that there were only 21 errors in the last full crawl but none of these errors apply to a /SiteDirectory/ site. In short, what could be causing the crawl to apparently skip all of the sites within /SiteDirectory/ and how can this best be fixed?

How to add List item in search results for anonymous in a publishing site?

Hi all,   For now, results in Library (document set or not) are shown and the link is the binary file. This is ok. But for list, anonymous users can't view results. As logged in I see the items in the AllItems.aspx page. How could I allow this result to be viewed by anonymous users too?      Thank you,   Benoit Pironet

Best Way to Convert MOSS 2007 Site Templates to SharePoint 2010 Templates

Ok, I just treid to do something that I didn't really think would work, but now that I've seen it fail, I get to ask the question. Is there a best practice on converting site templates built for MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010. We have several projects that used the Visual Studio Extensions (v1.3) and the SharePoint Solution Generator to build custom site templates and the .wsp packages. I can add and deploy the solution packages using the STSADM tool, but when I try to create a sub-site based on that template, I get an Object Not Set to an Oject Reference Error. In case anyone is wondering, it works fine in MOSS 2007. I have not tried Visual Studio 2010 yet (it's downloading in the background). I'm just wondering if anyone has run into this and what they did to fix it. TIA, John.
