Large Dimensions WriteFile Error

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I getting this error when processing a very large dimension:

File system error: A FileStore error from WriteFile occurred. Physical file: ....

I've found a bunch of threads discussing the problem. The most detailed on this blog:

http://geekswithblogs.net/darrengosbell/archive/2007/04/29/SSAS-ProcessUpdate---Too-much-of-a-good-thing.aspx

It seems that there is a 4GB limit on the file size that SSAS generates. Which is fair enough - everything has it limits. But my question is how do I work around it? The dimension is based on a table that has these columns:

ID bigint PK,

Two key columns, ID1 int & MD5 uniqueidentifier - these make a unique key I use to join to the measure group.

Then a varchar(800) column which contains a URL (which is the attribute I'm interested in).

The table contains 200 million rows+ which is roughly 22GB in SQL. There are no columns I can remove here. My question is surely I cannot be the first person to hit this problem. How have others worked around it? Can I somehow partition the dimension (on rows not columns)? The URL field is the bulk of the data - in theory a URL can be 2000 chars so I'm already limiting the

A FileStore error from WriteFile occurred

Hi- I am working with Decision Tree mining model with the Model specs as below. The source for training data is a table from sql server 2008 with 210 Million rows. Structure is as below. Upon training the Model, at some point through the training process, It errors with the below message File system error: A FileStore error from WriteFile occurred. Physical file: \\?\M:\OLAP\Data\KWProject.0.db\MiningStructureHooks ~MC-Phrases Key.7.dim\11.Phrases Key.asstore. Logical file: . . Observing the file grow in the File location M:\OLAP\Data\KWProject.0.db\MiningStructureHooks ~MC-Phrases Key.7.dim\11.Phrases Key.asstore, it seems to error out when reaching around 4GB. I have seen other sites/forums with same errors and the resolution being either using ROLAP or ByAttribute/ByTable or setting the <PropertyBufferRecordLimitEnabled>1</PropertyBufferRecordLimitEnabled> to 1 in the msmdsrv.ini file. Since this is not a cube, ROLAP and ByAttribute setting didnt apply here. I have tried with the PropertyBufferRecordLimitEnabled setting to a 1 but with no luck. Model and source table structure is as below- Key  bigint (Key) Pages  int (Predict) Views  int (Predict) Count  int Frequency float MK  varchar(10) Priority int Restricted int Forum  int Rows in the table: 210 Million I have tr

Infopath 2007 form error - Selected file is too large

We are using Inforpath form to capture some metadata along with couple of file attachments. We implemented that and its working fine

When we tested by trying to upload file more than 5 MB we got the following error

"The selected file is too large and is causing the form to exceed the amount of allowable resources. Select Another File"

During its analysis we found that this can be resolved by changing one of the "Infopath forms service " configuration named "Maximum size of form session state".

Is there any issue (like performance issues) in increasing this limit to allow us to upload the large attachment

In other words

In the Maximum size of form session state text box, type the maximum session state size in kilobytes. Form-filling sessions that exceed this value will terminate, an error message will be generated, and all form data entered during the session will be lost. The default value is 4096 kilobytes.

If I make this value to 10240 kilobytes (10 MB) ; will this cause any performance issues ??

Stale security timestamp error encountered in the middle of a large file transfer

I have two WCF services configured as Windows Services for both client and server that perform file transfers for DR replication. I'm using chunked streaming with a wsHttpBinding.

One of the files I am testing with is 58MByte, and after it has been going for 5 miinutes it throws a stale message exception

System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: The security timestamp is stale because its expiration time ('2010-10-07T20:36:25.322Z') is in the past. Current time is '2010-10-07T20:44:34.155Z' and allowed clock skew is '00:05:00'.

The problem is not clock skew because the two servers are within a minute of each other, and the transfer proceeds just fine until it reaches the 5 minute mark.  It's comparing the time at the beginning of the transfer to current time.  If got the receiveTimeOut set to 59 minutes.

I've seen posts about creating a custom binding to increase the clockSkew tolerance, but this seems to be more of a timeout issue.

Any ideas?

Uploading Large files via Web Service | HTTP Error 413 - Request Entity Too Large.

Hello all -

I am trying to implement a Web Service, which accepts a binary file as a byte array for one of its parameters.  It's workings are based on this article:
http://www.webserviceresource.com/articles/wsupload.aspx

Anyhow, the size of the file can be significant as the types of files being uploaded through the service are MP4 Video files.  The service works on my WinXP SP2 localhost, but when I implement it onto a 2003 Server and try to consume the service, I get the following error back from the web service:
The request failed with HTTP status 413: Request Entity Too Large.

I do a little searching around and find a few articles indicating that I need to adjust my "MaxReadAheadLength" property in IIS.  A good example of one of those articles is here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/jiruss/archive/2007/04/13/http-413-request-entity-too-large-can-t-upload-large-files-using-iis6.aspx

The suggestion from the article is to execute the following command on the web server:
cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc/1/uploadreadaheadsize 204800

FYI, the adsutil.vbs is in your IIS's AdminScripts directory.  I'm guessing that the /1/ part of the command is th

Unexpected Error when running large stored procedure report in SharePoint

I have a report which uses a stored procedure to retreive a resource intensive dataset from a Data Warehouse.  With a small scope it renders in SharePoint no problem, but when a larger scope is specified ShrePoint throws this non-descript error.

I can execute the procedure in SQL Server Management Studio, and though it takes 2+ minutes with the larger scope (30 sec with smaller) it does return the data.  Similarly, in Business Intelligence Development Studio it returns the rendered report with data after 2-3 minutes.

Only in SharePoint and only with a larger dataset does this occur.  Timeout is set at 30 minutes and it occurs long before then.  SSRS server has over 12 gigs memory, running SQL Server 2008, SharePoint 2007 is in integrated mode. No errors in SharePoint server or SSRS server logs.  Ideas?

WebRequestMethods.Ftp.ListDirectoryDetails, large directories and error (426)

When WebRequestMethods.Ftp.ListDirectoryDetails is used on an FTP directory with a large number of files (> 100), The following error occurs when reading the response:

  • The remote server returned an error: (426) Connection closed; transfer aborted.

If the number of the files in the directory is reduced (e.g. to less than 80), everything will be fine.

Could anyone offer some clue about this?

IsapiModule Error 500 Issue

I am about exhausted trying to figure out this error:

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

Description: The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.

Error Code: 0x8007007b

Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler

Module: IsapiModule

Requested URL: http://localhost:80/ReportServer

Physical Path: c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\Reporting Services\ReportServer

When I enable Failed Request Tracing Rules and view the log output I am supposing that the actual problem is in the 2nd call where there are 2 backslashes before the actual filename in the specified path:

ISAPI_START

CALL_ISAPI_EXTENSION DllName="C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\\aspnet_isapi.dll"

Inserting personal error message in ValidationSummary

Hi,

I am creating a web form that requires a lot of validation. I use many of the validation control in asp.net already like RequiredFieldValidator and CompareValidator.

My Problem: after my custom validation for the value entered return an error message, and I pressed enter key when the field is empty, my custom error message is overlapped by my ValidationSummary.

Setting my custom error to visible = false on button click also does not seem to work as it requires for me to enter the value first.

This made me think, is there a way to insert my custom validation inside the ValidationSummary as an error message like for other validation control?

Thanks in advance

Jscript error: Object does not support property or method

Hi, i have little knowledge on javascript but i need to use this code get from somewhere for a jquery to work.

I face this "Jscript runtime error: Object does not support property or method" whenever im trying to run this page.

In my experience, im get this error msg 9 out of 10 times i use javascript in my system.

Im using Microsoft Visual web developer 2008, i wonder if this is related to my problem, i not sure there is anything i need to add as reference or update anything.

But anyway, in short, i just couldn't use javascript code when using this development tool because of this sort of error.

Anyway, it happen that last time i tried use the same type of jquery code in another project and it seems to work well without an error.

But now when im try to use it again in this recent project i created, it come out with this error and i have no idea how to solve it even look through google and this forum.

It doesn't really seems like its the code problem itself although im not sure, because any javascript code just couldn't work.

So below is my code that i need to use.

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js" ></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src=&quo

HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden

(VB Express website directed me to ASP.NET Web Services which in turn redirected me to this forum).

Hopefully someone can help me here......

I am using VIsual Web Developer and downloaded the small business application to use as a starting point to help my wife get a website up for her small business. When I load the application, I can F5 and it runs fine but as soon as I make any modification to the app and hit F5, I get the HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden when it tries to show the website.

I notice a pop up that occurs when I run that allows me to choose the link for my app and it displays correctly (I close the webpage that has the error on it).

This seems like a pain, is there a setting I'm missing - I would think that this should "just work".

What's up?????

Thanks,

Rick

Insert Error not helpful

Hi,

I am using VS2010

When I try to updated or insert a record in my User table I am getting an error that does not make sense to me and I cannot figure out what is wrong.

Also, when I try to insert a new record I get a validation error saying that the Id is required. However it is an identity field in the db so it should not be necessary to send it to the server.

Could you please shed some light?
