I did an in place upgrade from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010. The install went successfully with only warnings to some missing server side dependencies which were remnants to the 2007 installation. However the 2007 installation still shows
in Programs and Features and all the services remain (albeit disabled) along with the old application pools. I've seen other posts related to this question, but never a firm answer if it is safe to remove SharePoint 2007 after an in place upgrade if
the install succeeded. Taking a step back, why wouldn't this get cleaned up after a successful install? Was this due to the warnings about missing server side dependencies? Was it because I chose to keep custom templates in tact until I had
a chance to upgrade to the new visual theme? My main concern is cleaning up the server and removing errors related to the old installation like DPM backups. Plus I don't want wasted resources running in the background unnecessary.
Thanks in advance
