BDC link to separate PWA farm?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

My manager just asked me if it is possible to connect from our intranet MOSS SP farm to an completely separate WSS MS Project Server farm to pull in project lists from the "Project Center" list.  He wants to be able to pull in the projects and a bunch of the metadata from that list into an intranet list.

Because these are completely separate farms, one on MOSS and one on WSS, I wasn't sure how to make it work.  I thought that there might be some way to do that with the BDC, (since theoretically you can connect to just about anything with it :-), but I wasn't sure how to do something like that.  Or if you know of some completely other way to do this with some web part that is obvious to you, (but I'm clueless of), please let me know as well.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can the sharepoint sql server be in a separate forest from the farm?

I've read the notes about putting the MOSS server in a DMZ here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rkramesh/archive/2009/03/06/hi-title.aspx  That's not exactly what I'm trying to do though.

I have a two-forest topology with the users in one forest and a resource forest with datacenter resources.  I would like to utilize the sql 2008 r2 cluster in the resource forest, but install the sharepoint farm in the user forest.

Is this entirely idiotic?

How to display related tables in one crystal report and how to link this report with combobox?

Hi! I want to display a crystal report in my vb.net application. Suppose I have tables named student details, student marks, student address, etc... Now if I want to display all these details (fields of all tables) in one crystal report (with page breaks if necessary) then how will I achieve it. I will be providing a combo box in my application that contains list of student names. How can I link this combo box with the cystal report to dynamically display report for different student on selected index change of combo box? Help me friends. An example would be appreciable.

Taming the Stateless Beast: Managing Session State Across Servers on a Web Farm

Running a Web farm means managing session state across servers. Since session state can't be shared across a Web farm with Internet Information Services 5.0, a custom solution is required. One such solution using a tool called the session manager is described here. The article begins with a description of the SQL Server database used to store state information, the stored procedures used to update it, and the retrieval of session data. ASP code drives the session manager tool and the COM and COM+ components that run the stored procedures.

How to get a link within a label

<asp:Label ID="UiMatchAll" runat="server" CssClass="sans-serif-small-bold-SHAMU" Text="Match all of the following criteria..." />

I have this label but I want my text to contain a link, the word "all" I want to be a link so that it looks like "Match all of the following criteria..."  you know with the all underlined representing a link.....

Link goes to next page but url doesn't change?

I have a text input to get a 'roomID' and an ASP button that calls an 'enterRoom' function:

roomID:<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="roomID"></asp:TextBox>
                <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Enter Room!" OnClick="enterRoom" />

In my head tags I have my enterRoom Sub:
    <script runat="server">
        Sub enterRoom(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
            Server.Transfer("users/room.aspx?roomID=" & Request.Form("roomID"))
        End Sub

Now when I click that button it essentially goes to the right page in all ways but the URL stays as my default.aspx instead of changing to users/room.aspx?roomID=23423. I've tried it in IE and Firefox with the same results. Is this something I'm not understanding about Server.Transfer or why is this happening and how do I fix it?

My site link on my home page.

One of the user got My owa link in place of my site on the my home page ( go to my site --> my home --> top right corner shows My owa insead of my site ) and he wants to edit that my owa link now. first of all i dont know how he got that My owa link in the place of my site on my home page. When he surfs any other page than he is getting my site on all other pages. so he is just getting My owa link in place of my site only on the my home page.

At the first glanse, i think it would be master page issue but if that would be the case than it shold apply all the users but this is happening just for one user and we are not using custom master page.

Please help.

Reg: Turn on more accessible mode & Skip to main content link message on Infopath2007 browser form

I have a infopath 2007 browser enabled form with c# code behind . The Infopath form is embeded\hosted in to a custom layouts page (.aspx) on MOSS 2007. The issue is when users use keyboard to fill the form, they often use <TAB> & <Enter> keys. So when they are using the tabbing at one location in the form, I have a "Contact selector" field, I enter a name & then hit <TAB> key the focus now comes to "name cheker" I then hit <Enter> key, I hit <TAB> again, the focus now comes to a button named "Accept", I hit <Enter> key & a filed below is populated with the values from user profile service. Now when I hit <TAB> I expect the focus should now come to that automatically populated field below the "Contact selctor". Because Infopath assings the tab order by default form top to bottom & left to right and I havent changed that default tab order.

But, the focus moves to top of the webpage with a clickable link to "Turn on more accessible mode" I hit tab one more time & the link on top changes to "Skip to main content". This bheaviour does not seem to be happning in other form controls when they hit <Tab>, <Enter>. There are couple of areas on the infopath form where I have such a controls (layed ou

Extracting Infopath form templates (with code behind) from a farm

I am in the middle of a migration of MOSS 2007 on server 2003 R2 to server 2008 r2, to be in the position to migrate to SP 2010. I am trying to extract form templates (with code-behind) from the old farm to the new farm. I did not set this farm up myself, so I would have copies of everything that was deployed to the farm, but now I don't. I have tried grabbing the .xsn from the Form Templates form library, and the form comes over, but no code behind, it says, The VB or C# project for this form template cannot be found. I have also tried extracting the solution files, and changing the file ext to .cab and opening the file up, only to find nothing very useful.

I need to extract and open the code up because I believe one of the forms that sends emails dynamically, is pointing to an old exchange server, because the emails are not getting through, and the exchange server was recently changed.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Can not link from MS Access to SP admin lists

We have WSS3. I am a site collection admin. The SP server is at remote location at our vendor.

I can link from MS Access to all the cusom lists - lists created by users.

I can not link from MS Access to the admin lists, for example the Site Hierarchy list. This is https://mysite.com/_layouts/vsubwebs.aspx

I know this is a LIST. It has columns Site URL, Title, etc.

I need Read only access. How can I do it?
