add event handler to dynamically created button

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Does anyone have a good vb example of adding an "onClick" event to a button that is dynamically added into a templatefield of a gridview.  MSDN just says to use the addhandler statement with no other good info for a 'dynamic' scenario:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/t3d01ft1(v=VS.80).aspx

Thanks in advance for any advice.

want to launch modal Popup from created User Event handler

hi,

I have a create user wizard on my page and in the event handler (Created User) I get extra information from the user

via textboxes within the aspx etc.

I then do a response.redirect to another page.

What I want to happen is this

When the CreatedUser Event is fired, I  want a Modal Popup to show up with a message Processing your registration.

once the registration code is processed it will close and the users get redirected.

On my ASPX I have the Modal PopUp and a Panel.

In the code behind in the handler I put ModalPop.show()

but this does not work.

thanks for any suggestions

How to call a button click event on from an event handler

Hi

I got an event handler like this, in this event, i wanted to call another button click event. How can I do that?

protected void gwDetail_SaveCommand(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
        {

            lblMsg.Text = "Saving...";
        }

Thanks.

if (ds.Tables[0].Rows.Count == 0)
                {
                    ds.Tables[0].Rows.Add(ds.Tables[0].NewRow());
                }

Button click event handler firing twice

I noticed today that button click event handlers are firing twice for me in some cases when the button is inside an UpdatePanel -- but only in Firefox.  I'm wondering if this might have to do with the Firefox 2.0.0.1 update that came out today because I never noticed this problem until today.  Has anyone else run into this problem?

Why does my event handler need 2 button clicks to work?

I've created a Visual WebPart in 2010 with two buttons.

One works as it should (it updates a database and puts a success string in a label) with no problems

One gets a dataset and populates some labels and textboxes (using a Page.DataBind).

With this button, I need to click it twice (not exactly a double click) - once, let it post back and then click again

If I copy the exact markup and code to a test ASPX project, it all works perfectly as it should.

I've tried both a DataSet and a DataReader - code to populate controls is like the following:

lblSerialNumber.text=dsName.Tables[0].Rows[0]["SerialNumber"].ToString();

Then, after all, I follow by a Page.DataBind
or
Within reader.read:
lblSerialNumber.Text = myReader["Serial Number"].ToString();

Does anyone know what could cause this?

Creating Event Handler in Code behind

Hi, so I have a control that is created in the code behind and generates fine but I can't figure out how to create an event handler for it.  I've found plenty of examples for it in C sharp, but none of them seem to apply to VB.  What I want to do is essentially this:

myDropDownList.SelectedIndexChanged = "Event to do here"

but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Gurus ,

file upload in Create User Wizard Created User event with UpdatePanel Tag wont work?

Hi,

In my Create User Wizard1 Created User Wizard Event, I am collecting extra information from text boxes and allowing

the user to uplad a file.

I have put the Submit button within an Update Panel Tag but since I have done this it does not work.

Is there a way round it. In this situation would you use a trigger.?

     <CustomNavigationTemplate>

                       <div>
<br />

  <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel2" runat="server">
                <ContentTemplate>

  <asp:Button ID="StepNextButton" runat="server"  CommandName="MoveNext"  align="middle"
                                            Text="Submit my Profile" />

Adding carriage returns between 2 dynamically created controls in an HtmlTableCell

The title pretty much explains it. Here is what i'm trying to do...

 Private Sub LoadGrid_CommentsField(ByVal Row As HtmlTableRow, ByVal BookingNumber As String, ByVal CommentsText As String)
  Dim Txt As TextBox
  Dim Cmd As ClickOnceButton.ClickOnceButton

  Txt = New TextBox
  Txt.ID = "txtComment_" & BookingNumber
  Txt.CssClass = "TFAppControls"
  Txt.TextMode = TextBoxMode.MultiLine
  Txt.MaxLength = 500
  Txt.Width = New Unit(95, UnitType.Percentage)
  Txt.Text = CommentsText
  Row.Cells(cComments).Controls.Add(Txt)

  Row.Cells(cComments).InnerHtml &= "<br/>"

  Cmd = New ClickOnceButton.ClickOnceButton
  Cmd.DisableAfterClick = True
  Cmd.Text = "Save Comments"
  Cmd.ID = "cmdSaveComments_" & BookingNumber
  Cmd.CssClass = "TFAppButtons"
  Cmd.EnableViewState = False
  Row.Cells(cComments).Controls.Add(Cmd)
 End Sub

On the line where i try and update the InnerHtml, i get the following error; "Cannot get inner content of  because the contents are not literal."

InfoPath Workflow Task Form "Loading" event handler only being called after App Pool recycled.

I have a Workflow that is using an InfoPath task form.  In the "FormEvents_Loading" method event handler I have some code that needs to run each time the form is opened.   I recycle the App Pool and open the form the code runs perfectly, but if I close and try to re-open the form the code is not run at all.  I can then recycle the App Pool again and on the next load the code executes just fine.   The code that is supposed to be run is a very simple statement to set a field value, so I don't think it is interfering.

Does anyone know what this might be?

Thanks,
--Aaron
