I created a site and am trying to grant another pesron access to upload
changes to it without giving them my super-user login.
I made a login for her but I can't test whether it works or not because no
matter how much I "disconnect" in the Copy Web Site page of VWD 2010, reconnecting to the same site always logs in as
my superuser account without prompting me for a login again.
How do I test is the account it set up correctly before having her try to
upload to it? I want to force the login to remote site dialog to pop up
again to test her account.
I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.
I have two SQL Server instances installed.
1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)2- UserLT\SQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)
But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:
Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925
I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)
and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLT\SQL2005".
But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

The Express Editions of Visual Basic and SQL Server 2005 have lots of the features of the full-sized versions, but with a lot less of the overhead. Professional developer features such as full IntelliSense support, local debugger, Add Web Reference, and the improved Visual Data Tools will all be available in the Express products, so you don't have to leave your favorite features behind. In this article the author introduces you to these express editions and builds a sample app to get you started.

just a quick question, are there a lot of developers using the express edition to make web sites, or is it limited to what you can do, and I would be better getting the full edition visual studio 2010. I have been using dreamweaver, but I wanted to try my hand at asp.net, thx for any info you can offer.

I am only using the one which is packaged in VisualStudio 2010 SQLClient. Let me know how can we create a new database file with userID and password. So that i can host it in other systems as well without any windows authentication. I know that VS2010 setup also installs the SQL client which is requiredto create and manage sql databse files/quries etc
i dont know the default userID and password for SQLauthentication. As the express setup did not asked any credentials while installing SQL components
Thanks and regards
I'm trying to embed a flv in my web page and I don't have a clue how to do it.
I downloded and installed ASPNetFlashVideo and the tools do not appear in my toolbox.
So if anyone has a work around it would be greatly appreciated.
I have several css style sheets I want to work with. I have copied them into the appropriate directory structure in my project. The styles are applied correctly.
But the manage CSS styles tool bar on the left margin doesn't seem to work correctly. At one point I had generated a style sheet and worked with it there, but now it not only can't find the one it generated, but the attach style sheet link doesn't respond at all, nor does anything in this bar. Same deadness with the CSS Properties bar. With or without a style sheet loaded in the editor -- a style sheet that is active in the project such that when I run it, the styles are applied.
VB version of studio, running on Vista home basic.
PS, the design mode works a lot better than the professional version I use in my day job on XP and server 2003.
I downloaded some project from some site which is made in VS 2003. When I open its project file in Notepad I get following at first line Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 8.00. I don't have VS 2003 in my PC but I have VB 2005 and 2008 Express Edition. Now I wanted to upgrade that file but it is not doing. Can somebody help to upgrade it.
I need to get a list of programs/files that were installed when I was trying to install VWD 2008 so I can go through and remove them. The installation did not actually install the main part of the program so I can't start with removing Microsoft VWD 2008 (a folder was created in Program files but it is empty. I found this (below) but I'm not sure that it applies. I don't want to remove programs/files that are being used by other programs. (I can't just try to install again because there is not enough room on my hard drive)
This article applies to pre-Release versions of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. For 2005 version of this document, see Uninstalling Previous Versions of Visual Studio 2005.
For best results, Visual Studio 2008 should b
I just installed SQL Server 2008 Management studio Express on my Vista machine. i tried connecting to local machine using :.\sqlexpress, (local)\sqlexpress, or .\SQLExpress, MyPCNAME\SQLExpressnothing is working, getting this error:-----------------------------Cannot

Have used Visual Web Developer 2008 to make ASP application, with SQL server 2008 R2 Express for database. Works very nicely.
However, when I come to use Management Studio Express 2008 R2, I cannot see all my tables.
The ones I CAN see were created by the MS script that creates membership tables (and are called dbo.aspnet_membership etc), presumably because the owner of the tables was specified as 'dbo'.
The ones I can't see from Management Studio are the ones I created. I never specified an owner.
I think this is a permissions issue, but I can't fathom it. There's only ever been me on my development machine (laptop) doing it all, hence always the same log ins.
Running Management Studio as Adminstrator doesn't help.
I can't even ask Management Studio who own's the tables that I can't see because Management Studio can't see them so rejects the script.
Any ideas/links very (very) welcome !
**** Actually, it is even wierder. The tables in Management Studio have full structure, but are empty. But if I look at them in Visual Basic 2008 they are full !!! And...if I create a table in Management Studio it does not appear at all in Visual Basic, and likewise, a table created in Visual Basic does not appear at all in Management
Trying to do something that seems very simple but can not figure out how to do so. Fairly new to MVB Studio.
I am trying to query a SQL server that is already running(network / not local), using the wizard all the options I can find are to conenct to an .mdf and attach it to a server. If need be I can create a Data source using an ODBC driver and query it at run time, but I can seem to figure out how to do this. (IE, something like office can do when you create queries in excel from an existing data source.)
