Error message setting up System DSN: Setup routines not found. Please reinstall driver.

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I'm running W2K3 SP1.  The MDAC Configuration Checker reports MDAC 2.8 SP2.  The only discrepancy is MSADCO.DLL, where the expected version is 2.82.1830.0 and my actual version is 2.82.2651.0 (svr03_sp1_gdr.060301-1546).

The error message I'm getting when I use the ODBC Administrator dialog to set up a new entry is: "The setup routines for the SQL Server ODBC driver could not be found.  Please reinstall the driver."

This is followed by a dialog titled: "Driver's ConfigDSN, ConfigDriver, or ConfigTranslator failed."  The body text of the dialog is "Component not found in the registry."

Does anyone have any idea how I can repair this?

Unable to open physical file - Operating system error 5: 5(error not found) Microsoft SQL Server: Er

I am trying to attach a database to SQL 2005. This database has not previously been attached. I have only just installed SQL.   I get the following message: Unable to open physical file "C:\ArrowSQL\Arr@Data\Arrow_data.mdf" Operating system error 5: "5(error not found)" (Microsoft SQL Server: Error 5120)".   I have loaded SQL and the database fiel and directory with the same user acccount which is a local adminstrator ont hsi machine. I have checked that I have read/write access to the file.   The machine runs Windows Vista Business. SQL has SP 2 loaded.   What causes this?

Operating system error 53(error not found).

Hi, I am sabhari. I am trying to take DB backup and restore in web server using Backup Class (Microsoft.Sqlserver.SMO) namespace. Its working fine in local machine, but it not working in web server. I am getting following error in live Cannot open backup device '\\n5200-2\iis7_www\c\o\web site name\www\Folder1\DBBackup\DB_PRA_19042010.bak'. Operating system error 53(error not found). DropDownList error message: "value not found in the list"

Inside a FormView control, I have a DropDownList that populates a SQL column with city names. The SQL column type is nchar(50) -- I set it for 50, since the city names can be short or very long. The DropDownList contains all the city names. When a new record is created in SQL via this FormView control, the DropDownList successfully populates the column cell.

However, when I try to edit that record (using the edit template in FormView), I get the above error message...I believe the retrieved entry is not matching the entry in the list, because SQL isn't just storing the number of characters that a given city has (say "6" for Boston), it is storing/retrieving 50 characters (6 + 44 null spaces = 50 characters)--and thus DropDownList doesn't recognize that the entry is just "Boston"...How can I resolve? How can I ensure that there are no extra spaces recorded in a SQL cell beyond what is needed to accomodate the name of any given city?  Is this a SQL task or can it be resolved in ASP.NET?  Thank you.

The role '' is not found - error message

 Everything in the function below works as I would expect until  line 14 where it says they role "" was not found, even though debugger clearly shows that the role paramater is set to "admin" on the function call.

I was not having this problem until I made the switch from a mdb role data base to running the aspnet_regsql util to insert all the tables and sprocs into the normal database, but I have double checked and everything seems fine below.

Thanks for the help

MSXML6 Installer Error; MSDN SQL 2005 Setup Failure; "failed because a higher version"; "system admi

I had similar problem as above, but had to add an additional registry editing step (not listed).

Here's complete write up of the steps that worked on this pc... (Thanks to the tip for the first fix from Xiaochuan's spaces http://cid-c06fe3569bc575d9.spaces.live.com/)

Initial Problem: Error installing MSDN SQL 2005 on Windows XP pro SP 2, due to MSXML6 "Setup Failed"

After reading plenty of posts, determine failure is isolated to running msxml6.msi installer.

I had two different errors running the MSXML6 installer.

Error #1 - MSXML6 (msxlm6.msi) install fails because "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation ..."

Error #2 - "Installation of MSXML 6.0 Parser failed because a higher version is already exits on the machine. To proceed, uninstall the higher version and then run MSXML 6.0 Parser Setup again."

So here's the steps that fixed both, and allowed msxml6.mxi to be inastlled... and subsequently sql msdn...

Install #1 - Run msxml6.msi (you can get this off SQL install CD (in D:\ENGLISH\SQL200

SSIS errors when run from SQL Job: ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system

There are a few similar posts but none of the solutions seem to have worked.

I've got an SSIS which executes successfully in BIDS and MSSMS. However when I schedule the SSIS it fails with the error message:

Handling 404 page not found with Error page

      How do i handle 404 page not found?

Inserting personal error message in ValidationSummary

I am creating a web form that requires a lot of validation. I use many of the validation control in asp.net already like RequiredFieldValidator and CompareValidator.

My Problem: after my custom validation for the value entered return an error message, and I pressed enter key when the field is empty, my custom error message is overlapped by my ValidationSummary.

Setting my custom error to visible = false on button click also does not seem to work as it requires for me to enter the value first.

This made me think, is there a way to insert my custom validation inside the ValidationSummary as an error message like for other validation control?

Thanks in advance

urlrouting - page not found error

I have a dynamic data site setup and running locally fine from vs 2008.

When i deploy to a remote windows 2003 server (IIS6), all the pages also work ok apart from one page/table.  I can access it's list page,  but the edit and insert pages throw 404 errors.

I'm thinking it's a url routing/hosting issue as i've copied back the database from the remote server and it all works fine on my local machine.

Is there anything i can do to debug this behaviour?

Below is my register routes entry from the global.asax

Any suggestions greatly appreciated as, i've been stuck on this for days :(

public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)
    MetaModel model = new MetaModel();
    model.FieldTemplateFactory = new AdvancedFieldTemplateFactory();

    model.RegisterContext(typeof(Sponsorship.Data.Entities), new ContextConfiguration() { ScaffoldAllTables = false });
    model.DynamicDataFolderVirtualPath = "~/admin/DynamicData";

    routes.Add(new DynamicDataRoute("admin/{table}/{action}.aspx")
        Constraints = new RouteValueDictionary(new { action = "List|Details|Edit|Insert" }),

create user wizard login error message dont show in a message box?

i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new user

registers. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.

there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.

If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.

It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already exists

from the create user wizard membership  UserName and Password Textboxes

is it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?

Very Basic Question - Error message running first page

Hi Everyone,

I am running Windows 7 and I have gone into Control Panel and activated all of the IIS Functions.

The web application I am running was downloaded from the net (and has worked on other machines previously).  Once I downloaded it, I moved it into C:/inetpub/wwwroot/code/main.asp

I am a bit of a novice at this!  But I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

I get the following error when I try and run the web application through IE:

"An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator. If you are the system administrator please click here to find out more about this error."

(When i click the "click here" button it just goes to the IIS site).

Appreciate any help I can get!

Localize framework message from xml validation error

I need to validate an XML through XSD. I am using XMLReader (with XmlReaderSettings and

Validation_EventHandler to do it). Depend on users preference, I would like to change the output message generated by  Validation_EventHandler in french or english.

Any idea on how to perform this?
