How to dynamically secure content of reports

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Is there any way of dynamically loading only specific data in a report based on the user who is accessing the report and their access rights which would be stored in different tables?

An example of this is a report of cost of mobile phone bills. Each person's phone bill is allocated to a cost centre, there are likely to be between 2 and 20 bills per cost centre. When a report is run we want to display only those bills that the user is allowed to see and the criteria would be (a) IT allowed to see all (b) the cost centre manager can see their own cost centre and (c) some specific people can see multiple cost centres. The information relating to the 3 different criteria is in 3 different tables.

Could anyone suggest a way to do this?

Thanks in advance!

dynamically change column names in Crystal reports

I need to develop 3 pages.

On the first page user defines atmost 7 column names to be displayed on the report. I'm saving these names in a Sql DB table 'Columns' with Column_Nm and Column_ID as Table columns.

On the second page I'm retrieving column_Nm from the table and displaying them on the page so that the user enters the data. This data is saved in another table 'Summary' with the Columns column1 through column7.

on the 3rd page I need to show a report of 'Summary' table.

How do I dynamically replace column1 through column7 names with that of 'Column_Nm' on the report?

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

WPF: Adding checkbox with content Textblock at dynamically - width width returns NaN

Content and Structure reports

Hello, I have 4 production sites that I work on.  1 of these sites uses content deployment to the other 3 sites to keep the top page and navigation in sync between the 4 sites. We a sort of different from the norm, where content deployment is used for test -> production. At the global site I have created a content and structure report that shows only a users incomplete tasks.  I wrote the caml on a different system and got it running on a dev system, then copied the query to production.  Thing is that the query works everywhere except the one global site that content deploys to all other sites.  If the query were broken then it wouldn't work at the other sites, but it does so I don't think it is the caml query.  Just in case I have included it below. <Where><Or><And><Eq><FieldRef Name="AssignedTo" LookupId="TRUE"/><Value Type="int"><UserID /></Value></Eq><Neq><FieldRef Name="Status"></FieldRef><Value Type="Text">Completed</Value></Neq></And><And><Membership Type="CurrentUserGroups"><FieldRef Name="AssignedTo"/></Membership><Neq><FieldRef Name="Status"></FieldRef><Value Type="Text">Completed</Value></Neq>

Secure Static Content

Hi Everyone

We have a 3rd part application that consists of HTML reports/static images/gifs etc (different file types that are not known upfront) that are pushed periodically through a trusted source to a directory that is under our application (ASP.Net 2.0) virtual directory (IIS 6).

In our app we just need to display the first html file to each report (the html knows where it has it contect) etc. So a simple JS Iframe did the job.

However if someone knows the Virtual directory path (http:/App/Directory/Id1/Id2/....) they can browse to the images that can contain confidential data.

Is there any way of securing the files on the folder??

Thanks in Advance

Dynamically adding content to page outside of the aspnet form from within a UC

I have a uc which generates a html form  that should auto-submit when the browser loads the page, so I need to add the form to the page before the </body> tag - outside the asp.net form, id like my UC to work without having any requirements on its parent page / masterpage.

i have managed to add a literal inside the body tag by calling the following inside CreateChildControls on the parent page
Me.Form.Parent.Controls.AddAt(0, ltl)
however this required the body to have runat="server" and the code to be added to the user control's parent page. ( this also seems to cause the viewstate to be lost after postback)

Is there any way i can append the string to the rendered html inside the body but outside the <form></form> from within the UC code

Incase it makes a difference the UC is being added dynamically to the page.

WSS 3.0 Content & Structure Reports aren't working

I'm having trouble with one specific site and the content and structure reports.  In all my wss 3.0 sites, I go to Site Actions>View Reports and choose a specific CAML query.  In one site, I choose a default report such as "Checked out to Me" and I am taken to just the View: Default View. I'll change the drop down again to a different report again such as "Checked out to Me" and it refreshed the view again back to Default View.

What's going on? Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks for your time and help!

SharePoint Tutorial - Content Types

SharePoint content types provide users with a way to manage and organize content in a more meaningful way. It's a reusable of settings you want to apply to a particular type of document in a library or item in a list.

Enabling Users to Maintain SharePoint Content

When SharePoint is installed as a corporate intranet, there is a considerable amount of effort involved in maintaining the content to keep the site relevant. As we discussed in the first few parts of this series, SharePoint has many built-in features to reduce the burden on the site administrator.

Some areas of the site usually contain less-dynamic information. Internal memos and corporate policies are common examples of this information. One option for this information is to post these documents in a document library. Documents in a library are often stored in a few different formats: Word, Acrobat (PDF), or HTML. Each of these formats has its drawbacks.

Application Vs. Content Pages in SharePoint

SharePoint has two types of ASPX pages. One type is the application page, also known as a _layout page. The other type of ASPX page is a content page, also known as a site page. Each of these page types is stored in a different location in SharePoint. When developers create custom ASPX pages, they must decide on the page type.

Content Types in MOSS 2007

In this article I will try to describe the one of the best feature in Microsoft office Share Point 2007 called Content Types.

Content types are simply collection of contents. Each content in a Content type can have different settings.Basically it is a reusable collection of settings which you want to apply to a particular category of contents.

Content Query Web Part missing in SharePoint 2010

If you don't see content query web part listed in the web parts list, this is because you have not enabled "Search Server Web Parts" feature in site collection features. Enable this feature and content query web part will show in the list of web parts.

Dynamically Create Controls in ASP.NET by Using Visual C# .NET

This article demonstrates how to dynamically create a control for an .aspx page. The sample project does the following:
Creates two TextBox controls.
Verifies that the contents (TextBox.text) and the attributes of the TextBox are saved across posts to the server.
Illustrates handling events that are posted by a dynamically-created control
