HttpRequest with list RSS does not work

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I'm trying to fetch the output of a list RSS page with a HttpRequest object on a SharePoint site.
The SharePoint site is hosted elsewhere so I don't have any control over the settings there.

The RSS url of the list looks as follows (changed the hostname for this post):

When I open this in the browser it works OK.
When I try to open this URL through the HttpRequest object the URL is being redirected to this URL:

Which obviously gives the error that the list does not exist there.
Why would this happen? When I try to open the default.aspx page of this site (URL = http://someSharePointSite/NewsPortal/Pages/default.aspx) then it works OK even through code. The site is open for anonymous access, so an authentication issue can not be the cause here I think ? Even then it wouldn't make sense that I'm

Workflow doesn't work anymore after renaming list

Hi All, I have created a list with the name "helpdesk test". After testing this list i renamed the list to "helpdesk". I did the rename by the list settings.  To this list i attached some workflows, with Sharepoint designer,  that have to start when a new item is created. All worked fine but after the rename the workflows don't work anymore. When i start the workflows manually from the list all works fine. Is there a way to rename a list and let the workflows work as before? Thanks in advance. Laurens.

XML Viewer web part and SharePoint list RSS feed doesn't work

Hello, When I want to use the XML Viewer web part and set the XML URL to an RSS feed from a SharePoint list I get this error: Cannot retrieve the URL specified in the XML Link property. For more assistance, contact your site administrator. The URL I'm trying looks like this: http://sp2010/_layouts/listfeed.aspx?List=%7B76FD9EEE%2D9354%2D444E%2DBE3C%2DA9AE2C4B2063%7D I've seen blogpost that discuss this and they say that this is because of a security issue and that I have to enable anonymous access in order to display the RSS feed. Is this the only option there is ? I don't want to enable anonymous access on my SharePoint site. Why can't SharePoint just request the RSS feed with the credentials of the logged in user ? Or am I missing something here?

list view connection filter doesn't work

I have  a custom display form for documents library with two connected List View WebPart. I am trying to filter documents at the second list view with the value from the first one. Both list views contain data from the same documents library. I have configured the connection, but second list doesn’t display any item, and it doesn’t matter which field I use for filtering. Also  for another document s library’s custom  display form  it work perfect. But there second list view contain data from another documents library. Not the same as at first   case. Any ideas with my issue?

Item -level permision for list does not work as it should be.

Wondering if anyone have the same problem like me. I'm currently developing a centrelized document library for the whole company. For the safekeeping of documents, i use List Library  for user to keep all of their document for view but i set the item level permission for the edit access as a "only their own".

This work great a few week ago until i made some changes on the DefaultTemplate on the ..\12\TEMPLATE\CONTROLTEMPLATES. And as for now i found out the item level permision fail to work as what it should be. I do revert the changes on the Default template but still any user still can edit other's document..even with "none" as Edit access permision.

Any help in this matter is highly appreaciated.

Thank you

How exactly does a SharePoint 2010 External Content type / list work?

I'm trying BCS on an SQL table which contains about 300,000 rows. Following is what I've observed:

1. A "SELECT * FROM <TABLE>" query fired on the SQL Table using SQL Management Studio returns all the result in 12 seconds
2. The same data when accessed by browsing the default view of external list (to which an External Content Type (ECT) built over the same SQL table in SharePOint Designer 2010 is attached) takes about 3:14 minutes

If I edit the ECT (using SharePoint Designer) and set limit as 100,000, it takes about 49 seconds to load, and further reduction in limit reduces the time to load.

My questions are:

1. What is it that causes so much delay in accessing the rows, as SQL delivers them in 12 seconds? Can anyone please help me understand the BCS / ECT architecture- how it accesses data, etc.
2. Can I implement paging in ECTs created using SharePoint Designer 2010?

Any help shall highly be appreciated. Thans in advance!

Column filter in Business Data List web part does not work for all fields

I have a BDC entity whose fields contain a variety of data – numbers, dates and strings.  When I use the business data list web part I find that some of the columns’ dynamic filtering (accessed from the list’s column header) doesn’t work.  For these problem fields, the filter values load correctly but when I select a value all records disappear.  Initially I thought this was limited to just string columns but there is one string column that does filter correctly.

Here are some things that may be useful to know:

1.       The datasource is a SQL view and all fields are varchar(255)

RadioButton inside GridView, How to get it work as normal

Did you tried before to drag a RadioButton control inside a Gridivew templatefield, and then you attempt to select these RadioButtons , you will notice that the behavior of RadioButton control will be changed and it will work just like the behavior of checkbox control! the user will be able to select more than one radiobutton in the grid!

Ready made List Types provided by SharePoint

SharePoint provides some out of the box List Types. Some of the most used ready made list types that SharePoint provides currently are listed below:

Export SharePoint List to Excel Spreadsheet Programmatically using C#

In SharePoint applications, Custom Lists are used to store business data and Document Libraries to store the documents. But for data manupulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel provides very rich features as compared to SharePoint Lists. That's why people still loves to work on Microsoft Excel Sheets.

Dropdown list in ASP.NET - How to get value selected

am sure this must be very simple, but unforunately I can't figure it out.
I have the following code which populates the dropdown lists from the database. This works fine. Now, when the user selects a particular employee name from the list, I want to get the Employee Id of the selected employee. i.e. I need to get the "Eid" value. I can do this if the EId is loaded in the dropdown list, but in this case only the employee name is displayed. Please let me know howI can get the Eid value even though it is not loaded in the dropdown list.
I would really appreciate your help

Creating Sites/Lists/List Items under Current User Context in SharePoint By Using SPUserToken

Usually we do this by performing the action under RunWithElevatedPrivileges method and updating the listitem using SPListItem.SystemUpdate() method (see here). but this approach has its own flaws like (RunWithElevatedPrivileges will run under system account, we cannot use SystemUpdate for SPSite,SPWeb,SPList, since it runs under system we will "CreatedBy" by as SystemAccount).
