No audience was found based on your search request. Refine your search text.

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have a setup with seven Audience groups. In Central Admin I can see that each group have several members.

When a try to add an Audience to an item (Page, list item, web part etc) I use the Select Audience Picker Dialog, but when I open the dialog there is an alert message saying:

"No audience was found based on your search request. Refine your search text."

When I make a search for one of my Audiences it shows up.

But I was expecting that the dialog would show me my seven Audiences, without having to search for them first. This behavior wasen't in SharePoint 2007.

Can somebody help? Do I miss a configuration somewhere?

By the way, all the Audiences have been compiled.

Code Name WinFS: Revolutionary File Storage System Lets Users Search and Manage Files Based on Conte

One of the monumental problems organizations face today is aggregating information that's stored in disparate formats. Knowledge workers have long wanted to be able to search for content independent of format. The next version of the Windows operating system, code-named "Longhorn," boasts a new storage subsystem that makes that task easier. That subsystem, code-named "WinFS," allows the user to perform searches based on the metadata of the stored item, regardless of what type of file it is or which application created it. This article covers the basic architecture of WinFS and explains how to use the WinFS managed API.

Filter search over multiple text columns

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a library that stores information on various cases. The case table has several columns that contain descriptive strings on what happened in the case. I would like to create a single filter that returns all cases where the search string is found in any of the columns. I've looked at Dynamic Data Filtering, but as far as I can tell, the "Contains" filter only allows you to connect to each column individually. Has anyone tried this?

Full text search in a Word document

I´m currently programming a web search application in ASP.Net and having problem with full text searching. My requirements are:

1. Save a byte array from SQL server to word document as a temp file in a server side?

2. How to highlight the string I am currently searching in the Word document and return to the user the sentence with the highlighted string (like on Bing or any other search engines)? Is it possible to fullfill this requirement with full-text search integrated in SQL Server 2008?

Thanks in advance,

How to filter the search result based on a column value?

I do have search scope scoped at a list which contains attachment. I will use this scope to search (full text search) on this list then I need to filter the result based on a column which is in the same list. How do I do that? Thank you.

No Results matching your search were found. WSS 3.0

I've got one sharepoint 3.0 site, which is a hostNamedSiteCollection which won't return any results when we search it - searching the entire site or a single list both produce the same "no results matching your search were found".
The site uses Windows Authentication.  We have no Alternate Access Mappings set up. It is regular HTTP
I've added test content to other sites housed in the same Web Application and searched - that new data is appearing in the results.
I did a backup using STSADM and restored the site to my dev server (as both a hostNamedSiteCollection & a regular site collection) - searches return results just fine.
I deleted the site from the prod server and restored it (into a different content database even!) from a backup  I made with STSADM - no results are returned.
I restored the site to the same web application as a Standard site (http://webapp/sites/sitename) (NOT a host named site collection) and results ARE returned.

I've looked at the trace logs & application logs on the server, but can't find any errors that I can tell might be related..

This is the only site I've ever seen have this problem.  We have plenty of other hostNamedSiteCollections and search is working fine on them.

Advanced Search page no found

Currently when a user attempts to conduct an advance search they recieve a page not found message. When I tried to conduct a search myself I was able to enter in my search term, but the search results came up as page not found. On closer inpection I noticed that it is droping part of the URL.

http://sitesp.ca/sites/PETL-EPFT/searchcenter/Pages/Advanced.aspx becomes http://sitesp.ca/sites/PETL/searchcenter/Pages/Advanced.aspx

Has anyone seen this before? Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Search does not find text in Word document stored in document library on a Report Center site within

We have a document library on a site created off of the Report Center site template. We uploaded a Word 2007 document with the word zebra in the text. Using the search bar at the top of the page we selected This list: Our document library and searched for zebra. We received no results.

We tested the same thing on another site (site template Team site) within the same site collection and search worked fine.

Does the Report Center search function differently then the search functionality on the Team site?

Text Search Strategy Question for the SSIS Gurus...

BACKGROUND: As I have mentioned in some of my other posts I am using SSIS 2005 to replace an existing MS Access 2003 / VBA based ETL engine which I developed some years back.   Part of my existing Access-based ETL performs a text search of the source records and I am now attempting to replicate that functionality in SSIS (replicate in terms of the end-result and not necessarily the methods used to get to that end result).  I have an idea of how I plan to go about this but since am relatively new to SSIS so would greatly appreciate the feedback of those more experienced... DETAILED DESCRIPTION: In the source (Sybase ASE15) database, there is an "object" table (not the actual table name but for illustrative purposes it will suffice).  Within the object table there is a "description" column which is a char(60) datatype.  The description column simply represents a description of the object as defined by the source system end-user. For my ETL solution I allow the ETL administrator to define one or many (1...n) key words or phrases which represent search criteria.  These search criteria are stored in a reference table in my target SQL Server 2005 database (the same database to which my ETL will transform results and store them).  My objective, is as follows:  For each of the 1...n search criteria defined, try and find th

Search based on creation date

Hello All, I would like to ask which managed property I should use for searching based on creation date. It seems I can't find a managed property to do this. I created my own managed property with the right crawled properties, which works. But I think this should be something out of the box.  Please help, thank you  Anna

How to implement metadata based navigation/search to the documents

I have document library full of documents and each of items have managed metadata. I would like to create intuitive user interface where end-users can find documents based on managed metadata. I don't want to offer document library view as a first step interface. Which webpart suites to followings. Please suggest alternatives if my idea cannot be done. Case: End user select "personnel " metadata from treeview and press "OK/Search" and all documents which have the metadata personnel are listed.Kenny_I

Search request unable to connect to the Search Service.

I have searched through other similiar topics and have not been able to get it working again properly. I've tried deleting the Search Service account out and all associated information and created a new one. My crawl logs show that they are successfull and that I have content available in my local sites, as well as my people listed. I have disabled loopback checks, given the default content access account owner access on the databases. Everytime I do a search, I get that error message listed as the subject. I'm running a 4 server farm setup with 1 DB, 1 App, and 2 WFE's. Everything was working fine and now I can't get back working right. I have hammering at it all day and need some additional input of where to look. I'm no SharePoint expert by any means, but I'm slowly getting used to everything. Please help!

SharePoint 2010 Claims Based Authenticaton site working but search is broken

Hi, I have SP 2010 sucessfully installed on a Windows 2008 R2 server with SQL Server 2008 R2.  I created local machine accounts for the following: MACHINE\mssqlservice MACHINE\sp_admin MACHINE\sp_search MACHINE\sp_farms I have setup 2 sites with public facing internet access as well as local sites. I have CBA working properly on both sites from both public and private access. My problem is that when I go to search, I am constantly redirected to an error page. I have checked all SP services on the server and they are all running as MACHINE\mssqlservice That account has proper access to all sites as well as all DB's. My search is crawling and I get one error from a long named PDF file in my site, which is OK.   My questions is if my CBA is working fine and my search is crawling, why I am not getting a results page when I search from the sites:   Here is the error I get:   Error Internal server error exception:   Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Correlation ID: 5a03b730-42c2-48c9-a220-3b9d052481de Date and Time: 9/9/2010 4:45:07 PM   I am kind of stuck at this point and am not sure how to proceed.  Any help would be appreciated.        --TR

Accent-insensitive search with Arabic text

I've indexed documents in Arabic that contain accents (or diacritics) and I want to be able to conduct searches where the query does contain the accents but returns results for texts that both contain and do not contain accents. For example, if I have a document that contains the word "????????????" (a word with accents), I would like to be able to search using the word "???????" (the same word without accents). I have tried several combinations of configurations in my environment to no avail. I have tried installing my SQL Server using Arabic collation and I have installed the Arabic language pack on my OS. I have also tested the same thing with French, and it is working properly. The spsearchdiacriticsensitive value is set to false (the default). Does anyone know how to get this working? Is it even possible to do accent-insensitive search with Arabic? More on my environment: MOSS 2007 Enterprise Windows 2008 R2 SQL Server 2008 R2 Thank you
