SharePoint 2007 alerts are undeliverable to some users !

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

We have MOSS 2007 environment, there we have some alerts setup for some users. The problem is that there are some user to whom alerts are undeliverable and we receive failure messege in specified incomming mailbox. Most of these users are repeated. I have checked the profile of these users and found they are imported perfectly in sharepoint and these users are active users.

Thanks in advance

Displaying Top 5 Users of a SharePoint 2007 Site on Homepage

I am trying to create dynamic content and reward participation on a SharePoint site.  One of our ideas is to display the Top 5 users and Top 5 Viewed Documents on the homepage.

One of the ideas I had was to use the site aggregator to display the user statistics but the results are clumsy, at best, and not every user will have full control permissions to view these statistics.

Is there a relatively easy way to accomplish this without using SharePoint Designer?  Any ideas are appreciated.

Granting external non-domain users SharePoint 2007 access?

Hello all,

As you can well surmise, I've installed SharePoint 2007 on a server and require assistance. We have two sites. The primary site is for internal use only and the other site, a sub-site, is for communications and collaboration with select colleague organizations who are not members of our domain. How can I add these users to allow them access to this sub-site without giving them user accounts in our domain?

What I have done so far is enable SSO and add our users to have rights on the root site. That all works. I then created the sub-site. As a test from a thread I found, I added my GMail account username as a local user account on the SharePoint server. This did, indeed, allow me to add that user and give him rights to login, but I discovered that there is no way to modify the user's profile and, thusly, cannot specify an email address. What good is SharePoint is you can't get email notifications from it?

It then occured to me to create a new user group in the DC and create accounts for them there while at the same time limiting their access to only the SharePoint server and not have any local or remote login rights. Interestingly, the accounts will login after three tries, and then shows blank pages.

Anyway, what I need is to get these users in, have enough profile information that they can receive email from the server as neede

Blocking Edit Document for Read only users in SharePoint 2007

I'm trying to create a group in one of my sites that is Read only - truly read only.  Seems no matter what I do, the users can click on Edit Document, check out, check in, and the document is changed.  It doesn't show as changed in the Modified or Modified By columns, but the changes I make to test are there.  How do I create a group that can open a document, but can NOT check it out, can NOT Edit Document, and then check it back in?

SharePoint 2007 Alerts problem

Hi All,

I have a very strange problem concerning Alerts in SharePoint 2007. I haven't been able to find an answer yet and am asking the masses for assistance. The trouble is that on "ImmediateAlerts" the e-mail is sent and received, however the column fields that are set as required for the upload aren't getting sent along in the alert. For example, I have a document library and users have set up to be alerted immediately anytime anything changes on the document library. In the library settings I have added a column named Category and File Name. When I upload the file it notifies me that the file was uploaded successfully. I then populate the fields (1 required, 1 not) and OK the changes. The alert gets sent to the user but the File Name (not required) field doesn't show at all and the Category (required) field, which is a choice field, shows up but only with the default value populated. All of the other alerts (change, modified, etc) all show all of the correct information and fields. It only appers to be the "an item has been added" alerts that are not showing correctly. I have verified that the timer is running and successful and that the change log is successful. I have restarted the timer and the IIS with no change. I have even updated the alerttemplate as a last ditch effort. No changes have been made that should have caused this to s

Change Users ID, SharePoint 2007

After some actions with domain users (migration with ADMT + stsadm -o migrateuser), one user "lost" his profile. All record links 2 old user (with his old ID, 300 for example), but this user don't exist, another user, with same domain-user name and SID, has another ID.

How i can edit ID of users, or edit link-to-ID of all records?

Custom email alerts SharePoint 2007

I'm developing a SharePoint system and I was wondering how to go about designing a custom email alert for new/updated/ tasks e.g. so as one person is assigned a task, an email alert is sent out. I know SP sends a standard default template design, however after speaking with colleagues, they have found this design to be confusing and often boring - it doesnt make the task/issue stand out from the hundreds of emails they deal with everyday. How to I design my own custom email alert - the layout, content, frequency, granualrity etc?

migrating alerts from sharepoint 2003 to sharepoint 2007

Hi all

we are working on a requirement of migrating sharepoint 2003 content to sharepoint 2007.

the approach which we are follwing is : retriving the data from sharepoint 2003 using built in web services and  importing it into sharepoint 2007 using sharepoint API

using this approach we were able to migrate content other that alerts..

Issue: We were not able to retrive alerts of all users in sharepoint 2003 using alerts.asmx.(what ever the crediantials we are using to invoke the webservice that user related alerts only were able to retrive.)

Webservice which i am using is alerts.asmx(GetAlerts webmethod) .

how to retrive the all user alerts ?

any suggetions are appricated.

Sharepoint 2007 - Update Alerts Going To Random User

Hi, I am new to this forum am relativly new to sharepoint. I have set up a Task page and enabled alerts for assigned to. This is working correctly and only the user the task is assigned to gets the initail email. However when anyone updates the task the email goes to a number of users not just the assigned uers. There are no workflows setup. The below notification should only have gone to the user without the line through there name. Is there anyway to change this?

Thank you

Enabling Users to Maintain SharePoint Content

When SharePoint is installed as a corporate intranet, there is a considerable amount of effort involved in maintaining the content to keep the site relevant. As we discussed in the first few parts of this series, SharePoint has many built-in features to reduce the burden on the site administrator.

Some areas of the site usually contain less-dynamic information. Internal memos and corporate policies are common examples of this information. One option for this information is to post these documents in a document library. Documents in a library are often stored in a few different formats: Word, Acrobat (PDF), or HTML. Each of these formats has its drawbacks.

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

SharePoint 2007 Workflows - Things to Consider Before You Start

SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) utilizes the Workflow Foundation (WF) to enable workflows on lists and content types. But before you start doing cartwheels there are few things you should know before you get started. The experiences I'll be discussing are not from book smarts but from building real MOSS solutions that are in production today.

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).
