need help on programmatically adding .pdf file type to File Type list in Search Admin

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

This is easily done in the GUI but how do I program this?

I looked here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms562090(v=office.12).aspx and they just say - Extensions are grouped within an ExtensionCollection object. Use the Create method to specify a new file name extension.

Great but how do I do that - I'm not a coder and I need some pointers

I loaded the sharepoint assemblies:

[System.Reflection.Assembly]::Load("Microsoft.Office.Server.Search, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c")

[System.Reflection.Assembly]::Load("Microsoft.Sharepoint, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c")

[System.Reflection.Assembly]::Load("Microsoft.Office.Server, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c")

Where do I go from here?

Cheers

Feature Upgrade Functionality - Adding a new Content Type and List Instance

I've successfully used the upgrade functionality in SP 2010 to upgrade my list structures as needed. So far, these updates have been adding new fields to existing content types. Now, I have some new fields, content types and list instances to add, and am having trouble getting this accomplished. The scenario is this: - A new content type with a single custom field (also new), and a list instance for this new content type - A new field that is a lookup back to the new list instance defined above. This new field is added as an existing content type. - In my feature.xml, I have the Element Manifest specified with both new fields and an AddContentTypeField element for the new field being added to an existing content type:   <ApplyElementManifests> <ElementManifest Location="V1_04\Elements.xml"/> </ApplyElementManifests> <AddContentTypeField ContentTypeId="0x0100..." FieldId="{8028A1C8-1147-4DF7-B5C3-8A1F84A30360}" PushDown="TRUE"/> The result of running the update on this feature is: - My new field that is part of an existing content type is added - My new field that is part of a new content type/instance is added - My new content type and list instance is NOT created, therefore my lookup is broken Any idea why my new Content Type and List Instance is not being created? Do I need to specify there

Retreive content type of a list programmatically

Hi everyone,   I need to retreive all active SPContentType of a list. My list is configured to NOT allow the creation of "new folder" under the new button.   However, when I call the SPList.ContentTypes property, the SPContentType "New Folder" is always contains in the resulting collection... even if the SPList.EnableFolderCreation is set to false? Q.1. It's normal? Q.2. If yes, how can I differentiate the "New Folder" content type and all the others content type?   Thanks all   Marc

data type problem in import data from excel file

Dear All,

Now the problem is if a coulmn vlaue start with a number value like "15" then the other string value like "W15" in that column is ignored in the datatable.

Sharepoint 2007 publishing site home page displays unknown file type security message

I am using sharepoint 2007 sp2, it has been workig fine for the past 8 months but since one of the developers installed .net 4.0 framework, every time we create a new sharepoit publishng site or extend and existing application the home url displays an "Unknown File Type" security warning message and asks users to download the file.  If i manually tupe in the full url http://www.mysite.com/pages/default.aspx it is displayed correctly. I have uninstalled .net 4 from the server but i still have the same  error. I have tried to replicate this error on a development server but sharepoitn works fine on that even with .net 4.0 installed.

Downloading an xml file in Web App is of type .aspx

Hi,

Ive created a Web App where it is possible to download an xml file from the server to the client. It works just fine except that the Save Dialog recognizes the file being dowloaded as of type .aspx and the name of the file as being the name of the page I'm on. The page is called Download.aspx and it contains a button that when clicked executes the following code:

                //sends the content to the client
                Response.ContentType = "text/xml;charset=utf-8";
                Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment, filename=questionnaire.xml");
                Response.TransmitFile(Server.MapPath("~/temp_questionnaire.xml"));
                Response.End();

The save dialog appears and says:

Name: Download.aspx

Type: ASP.NET Server Page, 1,16KB

From: 127.0.0.1

If I download the file and open it it contains the correct Xml file content and nothing else, so it is working correctly. It just annoys me that it appears to the user that he is downloading the aspx site (and it shows up as such in windows explorer as well) rather than the xml file which is the actual content.

Does anyone know how I can get the save dialog to show the name and type of my xml file rather than the web page?

Visio File Type Requesting for Username and Password

Hello all,

PS2007 to PS2010 migration went well in a Test Environment, but only one issue remains. When opening Visio file for editing, it constantly requests for username and password. I have ticked 'Remember Password', but that doesn't seem to work. Opening it in Read-Only mode is fine.

Please note that I asked this question in the Project Server Upgrade Forum, but I was told it is related to SharePoint. Can someone please assist?

Thank you,

SJ

Converting a portion (numbers) of a text file name into a date type

I am working with a number of Flat Files that will be processed daily. The FileName is a combination of text and numbers. The numbers are the date of transaction. Therefore, I need to pick up the numbers and use it as a Date (DateAdded) inserted into the database. However, the positioning of the numbers is not fixed.

Examples of what the File Names:   Dial20100610.txt and Dialog20100611.txt

Now, I have inserted all the data into a staging table called Raw_Staging with File Name as the name of the column (eg. Dial20100610.txt, Dialog20100612.txt)

Is there a way to strip the text character from the columns with tsql so I am only left with the numbers and then convert it to a Datetime datatype so I can insert it into the destination table?

Double click an associated file type and have it open in your WPF application?

I have a WPF application that does a number of things. When running the app, I can go to File > Open, browse to a file, and open it in the app. Fields on the UI are updated with values from the file and everything works great.

The file I am opening contains binary data and has a custom file extension that is associated with my application. The problem is that if I DON'T have the WPF application running and I double click one of my associated files, it simply opens the application. I would like it to open the application and then load the contents of the file I clicked on. How can I go about doing this?

I have looked into using the Application_Startup event handler in the App.xaml.cs but cannot get the filename when double clicking on it as my StartupEventArgs are empty. However, the sender.ToString from Application_Startup handler returns "MyCompany.MyApp.App". How can I get the filename and go about loading it?

Another thing is that if I put a breakpoint in the Application_Startup event handler and double click my associated file, I never hit the breakpoint. The only way I hit the breakpoint is when I run the application from the IDE. I would like to be able to double click a file, then hit the breakpoint so I can do some debugging.

Thanks in advance.

How to file content type in C#?

Hi Friends,

Please help know how to get file content type in C#.net.

For example, I create one asp.net project and hosted in server.  So, now I can upload any time of file.

For example:- User uploaded demo.txt file. It done successfully!

Now user can view that file for example http://ip addres[255.255.255.255]/demowebsite/uploads/demo.txt

So, using that URL user can access that .txt file.

Now problem is, if user uploaded .aspx file or .ashx file or any other .net related file.

he can access that file using URL

For example user is uploaded a crack.aspx file with some virus program.

So, now he can execute  his code by browsing http://ip addres[255.255.255.255]/demowebsite/uploads/crack.aspx .

I want to handle this error. if he uploaded any text content type file, I need to change those file extensions to crack.aspx.txt or crack.php.txt or crack.jsp.txt or demo.xml.txt.  Because those are content type is Text.

For this we can use this code below code to find content type

private string MimeType (string Filename)
{
string mime = "application/octetst ream ";
string ext = System.IO.Path.GetExtension(Filename).ToLower();
Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey rk = Microsoft.Win32.Registry.ClassesRoot.Op

The filtering process could not be initialized. Verify that the file extension is a known type and i

I have medium farm in sharepoint 2007 and sql 2005.

I see errors in the crawl log due to file extension is not known for PPTX .

Where can I add file extension? What is the best way to handle this error?
