Suggested Colleagues

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi,

We are trying to use the Suggested Colleagues feature in our custom sharepoint solution. This Suggested Colleagues feature has a nice features where it will actually search the sent items of Outlook among other things. Now we are trying to get the same list of suggested colleagues in our custom solution as that sharepoint gives, however we don't really know how to do that.

Does anybody has some sample code or links for us to accomplish this task?

Thanks in advance.

How to track the changes of user contacts(colleagues) by using SharePoint API

We might have seen colleague tracker web part which keep tracks the changes made in our contacts/colleagues details like profile/lists/sites. The same tracking mechanism can be implemented by using MOSS API in any custom web part/ web control/ feature/web service...

UserProfile.GetColleagueChanges is the method which returns all changes happened with the contacts, this method also accepts a Query (UserProfileChangeQuery) where we can specify different parameters to filter the changes

MySites colleagues update

Running MOSS 2007.  I am having difficulty with the Colleagues webpart within MySites.  Across the organization, I have found multiple users whose Colleagues do not accurately reflect their Organizational Hierarchy, either as it displays in Sharepoint or as it displays in AD.  Imports do not resolve the issue.  The data for these users is accurate in AD, and in their profiles.

While I am aware the webpart allows the user to manipulate their colleagues manually, we do not permit it in our environment.  I would like to find a way to broadly correct the data rather than having to go to each site individually.  So here are my questions:

First, is the colleagues list meant to stay synchronized with the AD hierarchy listings, or is it populated once upon site creation and that's it?
And, depending on that answer, is there any way to force the webpart to synchronize as an administrator?  Or to repopulate the list as if new?

Thanks for your time.

SSRS 2008 on cluster suggested/supported?

Hello all, I am a windows admin with intermediate knowledge of SQL Server and its components like SSRS. Anyway, I built a production SQL2008 cluster successfully. The head developer also wanted to install SSRS2008 on one of the nodes along with a custom .NET framework application. Needless to say I did get SSRS2008 installed on the active node, but starting having problems with the cluster services and other strange happenings. So I removed SSRS2008 from the node and created a VM, installed SSRS2008 ENT(gonna have to uninstall/reinstall Standard) on that and created the databases via the config wizard and this vm is also running the custom .NET framework application. All of the DBAs agreed that this should have not been installed on the cluster. Now I have to justify why I did this...... 1. For a Production cluster environment isn't is suggested to have ssrs installed on a separate server with it's database housed on the cluster? ( I was told this was an "old school" way of thinking by the developer). 2. Is having SSRS installed on one node of the cluster supported by Microsoft?  In my humble opinion, a database cluster is meant for housing databases only for high availability and nothing else should be present on these two nodes.  Is there any documentation for SSRS that suggests the seperate server deployment rather than including t

Sharepoint 2010 - Communities & Colleagues

Hi, I want to know 2 things about Sharepoint 2010: When a user adds another user as colleague, is it possible for the added user to reject the request & not allow the first user to add. In other words, can the addition of colleagues be a request based process. There are discussion lists in Sharepoint 2010. I want to know that is it possible for a user to create a discussion group and the members should send request for addition to him. He should approve/reject addition of new member.  This is very urgent. Request if someone can help me with this. Thanks. Divesh.

Reviewer suggested common table expression instead of adding 12 fields

So during a code review a DB Mgr suggested that I use a common table function instead of adding the fields below. No idea how to possibly do this. Anyone have any ideas? Here is a code snippet that he wants to lose: SELECT   LP .leaseID, sum   (paymentAmount1+paymentAmount2+paymentAmount3+paymentAmount4+paymentAmount5+paymentAmount6+paymentAmount7+paymentAmount8+paymentAmount9+paymentAmount10+paymentAmount11+paymentAmount12) as restPayment FROM   leasePaymentScheduleDetails AS L inner join leasePaymentSchedules AS LP ON L.leasePaymentScheduleID = LP.leasePaymentScheduleID WHERE   paymentYear>=@curyear+5 GROUP   BY LP .leaseID   Any input is appreciated.

How to add colleagues to a user profile without admin priviliges programatically ...

Hi,I am working on a kind of a social networking site and the use case is as follows.1. User A sends a friendship request to User B.2. User B accepts.3. User A is added as a colleague in User B's Profile.4. User B is added as a colleague in User A's Profile.Step 2-4 are done using User B's login. Step 2 and 3 go fine but in step 4 I get the following error "This operation requires you to be managing your own data or have administrator privileges.". The API being used is UserProfile.Colleagues.Create (...);What is required is obvious but not possible in this scenario. SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges does not help.  Any other way of accomplishing this.Thanks.

I am trying to disable "Colleagues on My Site" policy, under the Shared
Services Administration. But when I try to disable it it is not editable.
I can click edit but then enable is set and it is grayed out.

Access Denied on Adding to my Colleagues option in profile pages

We have an environment that only has profile pages enabled and not personal mysites.  I've noticed that the profile pages are all within one site collection.  How can I give owners of their profile pages the ability to add to their my colleagues without allowing everyone to have rights to edit other profile pages?  This is within Sharepoint 2007 by the way.
