managed IIS7module +.Net 4.0 integrated pipeline + Medium Trust Level +GAC

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I'm developing a managed module for IIS7. Assembly with my code is placed in GAC and worked fine within 2.0 pipeline...

But with .NET 4.0 pipeline (and Medium Trust Level chosen) there are no permissions to read registry and code is unable to read/write "C:\Program Files\<Folder>\MyAppConfig.file"

Is there any way to grant my assembly with proper permissions to do this?

Medium Trust and OleDbPermission unrestricted=true

Hi,can anybody enlighten me what holes i punch when i extend the medium trust policies with OleDbPermission unrestricted=true?I want to read Excel files and need to change "Data Source" and "ExtendedParameters", so i do not want to restrict things further. Is it possible to access devices, services or files outside the web application root with this configuration?   Thanks     (mk)

trust level

I was told I have to make my solution so that it doesn’t require full trust.  what trust level should we be shooting for, and how do we make it happen?  the problem is our web parts make some calls to fully trusted assemblies, and it seems that no matter what CAS policy we set on it, it still requires full trust. Setting trust level for windows.system.forms.browser control

Hi All,

I am using a browser control in my WPF application. The users of this application will be using this control for viewing content that could contain malicious scripts. I want to set the Trust Level so that none of the scripts should be executed. I have added the Attribute to the method that creates the Browser control. I dont think its working though. Any thoughts on how this can be done?

Integrated Auth across External Trust

Hi,

I have a Sharepoint installation in domain and forest 1.  Everything works fine, the site is accessble via FQDN internally and externally.  We are using integrated authentication. Internally, the site is added to Trusted sites, and users can launch IE, and directly access the the site without manually authenticating.

I am performing an AD migration to forest and domain2, and testing has thrown up a strange problem.  I can migrate a user account to the new forest / domain (external trust in place).  The migration process I am using updates all the relevant permisssions in Sharepoint.

On a PC that is joined to the original domain, I can log in with the new (migrated) domain account, and access Sharepoint just fine.   I can still access this users site via their old account too.   The problem comes when I try to access Sharepoint from a PC joined to the new domain (sharepoint server is still in the original domain).  When I do this with either user account (old domain or new domain), IE prompts for Auth.  I can supply Auth, and all is OK.  Alternatively, I can move the site to the "Intranet" zone from trusted sites - or manually set the option to always send authentication in the trusted sites zone (not ideal) - and this works without the auth prompt.

I need access to the site w

Unable to read the security policy file for trust level 'WSS_Minimal' after editing 'Alternate Ac

Hi,

This is my first post, so I hope that I have picked the correct forum - it seemed the most appropriate.
I am pretty green when it comes to SharePoint admin, but as it was going so well I got a bit over-confident and tried out the 'Alternate Access Mapping'.  I didn't intend to save any changes, but I must have, because now under:

Central Administration > Operations > Alternate Access Mappings >
Edit Public Zone URLs

the 'Default' is "http://<myServer> : <port>"

and afaik there was no setting there before.  Unfortunately, I can no longer connect to http://myServer : port, although I can connect to the 'Central Administration' site on http://myServer : otherPort.  Apologies in advance for the data dump below, but if anyone has any suggestions on what I could've done (or even better what I could do to fix it before tomorrow :-) I would be very grateful.

Here are the errors that I saw/see in the browser:

linq not working on shared server with Medium Trust security

On my PC everything is all rigth but on the webserver I get an error: 'OrderBy' is not a member of 'System.Array', maybe due to the trust level.
Is there I way to bypass this or I have to resign myself to it?

Making website 'medium trust' compliant

My web hosting provider re-configured their servers for 'medium trust' overnight and now my ASP.NET website will not run. All they will tell me is that it needs to be set for 'medium trust' and will not advise beyond that. I inserted <trust level="Medium" /> between the <system.web> tags in the web.config file but that hasn't fixed the problem. I'm using the auto-generated web.config file from Visual Web Developer for ASP.NET 3.5, and don't believe I'm doing anything out of the ordinary as far as violating 'medium trust' restrictions. Has anybody else had to deal with this problem? If so, please help!

Application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy - medium level trus

Sorry about posting this one here but not sure where else to place it, I've read a number of other threads on this but none seem to give the answer I'm looking for...

I have done something very simple, added a SqlDataSource ScriptManager and AJAX Update Panel. My database is currently inside App_Data folder.

When I run the page I get the following error:

Security Exception

Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy.  To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.

Now in the Web.Config file I have set       <trust level="Medium"/>

but I don't want to change this because when deployed it is unlikely that I will be able t

A Low Level Look at ASP.NET Architecture

ASP.NET is a powerful platform for building Web applications, that provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and power for building just about any kind of Web application. Most people are familiar only with the high level frameworks like WebForms and WebServices which sit at the very top level of the ASP.NET hierarchy. In this article I'll describe the lower level aspects of ASP.NET and explain how requests move from Web Server to the ASP.NET runtime and then through the ASP.NET HTTP pipeline to process requests.

Intranet Users Challenged When Using Windows Integrated Security

We've setup an intranet site using Windows Integrated Security. Its up and running and users can access it. However, they are being challenged with a login dialog for the server when they initially access the site.

Isn't is possible to configure the server so that the users aren't challenged AND are recognized as being already authenticated by Windows? We're trying to go with a seamless experience, whereby all they have to do is login to their machine like normal and then go from there.
