Adding a server control on aspx page does not add events in aspx.designer.vb file

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi,

I work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.

I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ? Please advise.

Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.

Please advise if any settings have to be changed.

Thanks,

Arunesan

Adding a custom control to the SharePoint 2010 Team Site Wiki Page Template ( wkpstd.aspx ) programm

Topic This is maybe my last post about the Team Site Wiki Page customization with the aim of exceeding its limitations. This time we are going to customize the unique template ( wkpstd.aspx) by replacing the control that renders the editable content by a custom one. In this post example, we will take advantage of the use of this custom control to render not editable additional contents, for instance, a header and a footer that could be the same for a specific Wiki Page Library. Of course, we are not going to really customize the template, but we are going to use a delegate control to replace the control at runtime. Here are the screen shots of the result: We can see a non editable Header and Footer on the Team Site Wiki Page In edit mode these additional contents are not rendered, but we can add new content as usual And of course, after having saved the page, the new content is rendered wtih the non editable Header and Footer. Steps required   If you look at the Team Site Wiki Page template, wkpstd.aspx, you can see the control that is rendering the editable content/ <SharePoint:EmbeddedFormField ID="WikiField" FieldName="WikiField" ControlMode="Display" runat="server" /> We are first going to create a custom EmbeddedFormField control Then, we are going to use a delegate control to replace the native EmbeddedFor

Adding Control To The Child ASPX Page

While i add a asp.net label control to the existing child page to modify it. It gives an error  "SharePoint Designer cannot render the XSLT in this Data View. Launch CMD File From ASPX Page

My organization uses a CMD file to install updated files for a major enterprise application. Currently, we send out an email to users with a link to the file and instructions to run it, BUT inevitably users don't update their machines until their in field and try to start the app.

We're now liking the idea of using an ASPX page to prompt the users to run the updates and to capture the fact that the updates have been run. I realize that we can't capture the success or failure of the update. But we'd like to capture the user accessed the page.

Is it possible to embed into the markup for the page a link to the file on the local intranet that the users can click on to run the file?

The user accessing the page would capture that they did just that. We'd deal with wether or not the update was actually installed or if it failed later with them directly.

Visual Studio closes itself by opening aspx-Page designer after Windows Update

Hey Guys,

I've a problem with my Visual Studio.

On the 13th of August 2010 i installed a Windows update on my vista sp2 pc. For this date my Visual Studio 2008 sp 1 always has closed itself by opening an aspx-page in designer view. There is no error message just closing the window. I restored a backup of my windows from the time before updating it and it helped, i could open aspx pages in the design view till the update has been installed again automatically after rebooting the pc. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important. I hope you could help me out of this disaster.

Thanks

Nik

User Control not accessing the value of the properties send to it from the aspx page.

I have a dynamic accordion on a page. Set its datasource to an object of paged data source. The user control is in the accordions content template. When i was writing code the properties were showing but after giving the values of databases as

<ContentTemplate>

<uc:UserControl1  runat="server" Property1='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"columname1")%>' Property2='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"columname2")%>'  ></uc:UserControl1>

</ContentTemplate>

but the values shows null, these properties are shown as textboxes text property by user control.

MoreOver when I checked the values of database Items. So i made a textbox instead of usercontrol here as

<asp:TextBox ID="txtTest" runat="server" Text='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"Columname1")%>'></asp:TextBox>

It is showing the correct value. And if i pass the value directly it is also showing correctly like

<uc:UserControl1  runat="server" Property1="XYZ")%>' Property2="ABC")%>'  ></uc:UserControl1>

. where I am wrong

the problem is eval is not passing the value to usercont

calling a web service on a remote server from an ASPX page

hi, I want to call a web service on a remote server. I've done "add web reference" in my project, and VS2005 has created the .discomap and .WSDL in the App_Web_Reference folder. When I try add the namespace representing the web server (the name I created when I added the web reference) by "using XXXXX;" the code does not compile because XXXXX is not defined. Have I missed any steps? thanks, -me

calling a web service on a remote server from a ASPX page (web site project VS2005)

HI,I am maintaining a web site project in VS2005 and have to call a new web service on a remote server. I've done add web reference, and created the .wsdl and .discomap files in the app_webReference folder.  When I try to create a object representing the web service in the code ( wsnamespace.serviceName ws = new wsnamespce.serviceName(); ) the code wouldn't compile. The web site project is already calling other web services. When I right click on the type representing the web service and "go to definition" it takes me to a proxy class (derived from of course SoapHttpClientProtocol) in the metadata. I think this is what's missing for  the new web service i'm trying to call. Have I missed any steps? Thanks in advance.-me

SharePoint Designer can't open defaul.aspx page

I tried to edit the default.aspx page of a WSS 3.0 site using SharePoint Designer and I get the following error:"The server could not complete your request.  Contact your Internet service provider or Web server administrator to make sure that the server has the FrontPage Server Extensions or SharePoint Service installed."When I click on the 'Details' button I get:"soaperverServer was unable to process request. ---> A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Web Part Page cannot be displayed or imported because it is not registered as safe on this site. You may not be able to open this page in an HTML editor that is compatible with Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer. To fix this page, contact the site administrator to have the Web Part or Web Form Control configured as safe. "I don't have any custom built Web Parts installed and I checked the web.config file to make sure that other parts are marked as safe. The weird thing is that I can successfully edit other default.aspx files on sub-sites  Thanks for any help

How to Access Parent Page (.aspx) control (IDs) from its child User Control (.ascx)

I have a parent .aspx page that has a asp:panel control in it, and this parent .aspx is also referencing a user control that I registered in that .aspx. Lets just call it usercontrolA.ascx for this post. The user control has a radiobuttonlist itself.Based on a selection from the radiotbuttonlist in the user control, I want to be able to hide the asp:panel in my .aspx (parent) but unfortunately I cant' get it to work:parentPanel.visible = true;  <<< I trried this in usercontrolA.ascx.csBut the user control doesn't know about the panel in the parent .aspxSo do I need to expose that somehow from the parent so that I can access it from the code behind of the child .ascx?  How?

Linking JS file to ASPX page or content page

Hi, I moved my JS functions into an external file "JScript.js", because I'm now using a master page and a content page. But it doesn't work any more, and I can't find why.I tried simply to link a js file to an ASPX file, by adding to the script manager the path of my script, but it doesn't work. Here is my js file (we don't need any special things in it do we?) var step1 = false; function pageLoad() { var accCtrl = $find('AccordionCtrl_AccordionExtender'); accCtrl.add_selectedIndexChanged(onAccordionPaneChanged); } function hideAccordionPane(paneNo) { ... } function changeSelected(idx) { ... } function onAccordionPaneChanged(sender, eventArgs) { ... } function check() { ... }And here is my ASP code: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %> <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="cc1" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0

SharePoint Designer 2007 - Customize List View - Error when saving view ASPX page

We have a custom list definition that includes custom site columns.  When we try to open one of the list view aspx pages in SharePoint to update the view query we get an error when trying to save the page in SharePoint Designer 2007.  We receive a warning that the operation will customize the page from the site definition, which is fine.  And then get a general "Server error: ServiceRequestorID" alert.  ServiceRequestorID is a custom site column used by the list definition.

ServiceRequestorID field definition:

<Field ID="{FA39D24D-AB40-4b1d-BD80-94ABE34A7578}" Name="ServiceRequestorID" DisplayName="Service Requestor ID" StaticName="

Adding .aspx page to existing web site

Hello,

I have a running ASP.NET web site. There is following problem with one of the forms:

One part of submitted data is added to database after "submit" is clicked. (to "table1")

Another part is lost (not added to "table2", and no files uploaded)

I have no source code of that project.

So, because I cant edit existing page, I came to a decision to add new .aspx page to a running application with same functions as existing one.

How can I do that? Or maybe you can recommend some other solution.

Thanks, Alex.

How To : Add a ListBox Win form control to a asp.net .aspx page

Here is my requirement:

Do File upload without fileupload asp.net control, instead do following:

1) 'drag and drop' of file (attachment) from windows explorer to .aspx page

2) 'Copy / Paste'  - in a .aspx

What I can think of is doing it by creating a 'Windows ListBox control'.dll and calling it in aspx page with

<object></object>,

Is there any better solution out there?
