Auto Complete Extender key value pair in Listview

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I'm pretty new to ASP.Net and I came across a problem using Ajax AutocompleteExtender. Currently I'm trying to update the database table through ListView. More precisely - I'm trying to update foreign key (PARTNER_ID). Basically I need the DropDown functionality out of a Autocomplete Extender because I have a very long list of partners. I managed to get key/value pairs back to Autocomplete Extender but I can't insert the value into a hidden filed that I use to update the table. This is as far as I got - the error I get from compiler is:

Compiler Error Message: CS0103: The name 'ACEValueEdit' does not exist in the current context

Here is the code:

Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="OdgovorneOsobe.aspx.cs" Inherits="Farmex_CRM.WebForm3" %>

<%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit&q

Auto-complete extender and default button of a panel - Enter key issues

Hi. I have a text box with an auto-complete extender attached to it. This is in a panel. Now, I have set the default button of the panel to the submit button of the panel.

      <text box/>

Now, I find that when the auto-complete options show up and I try to select an option using the enter key, the button is pressed (triggering a postback) due to it being the defaultbutton of the panel.

I want to be able to select an aut-complete option using the enter key and yet not post back. Therefore, the enter key (when the text box is in focus) should not trigger a postback. How can I achieve this?

auto complete extender

I'm new-ish to asp.net/vb...and just now trying to implement the ajax autocompleteextender & using web services for the first time,...So please understand if my question is vague...

I’m trying to implement the ajax autocompleteextender onto an existing page I have…

It’s not working…I think I’m probably not creating the web service correctly???  As of now, I have a “dummy” web service…it should just return “hello world” as an option when the user types anything into the test textbox.  I don’t see that it’s calling the web service at all.  Nothing happens when I type in the testAutoComplete textbox.  No errors.  Is there a way to test if it’s even calling the web service?  Or, run the web service by itself, to see if that is created OK?  This might be the first ajax thing I have in my website…so maybe the site is not “ajax-enabled” or something?  But, the “<asp:AutoCompleteExtender>” does not error, so I kinda don’t think so?

Here’s my aspx page with the autocompleteextender (/ProductMaintenance/Main/ProductSearch.aspx):

 <asp:TextBox ID="testAutoComplete" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>

Visual Studio - Element ID Auto Complete Settings

I am a bit frustrated at the following. Yesterday I had a block of code that I wanted repeated in a series of conditional statements, ie., if ... elseif.... elseif... end if   When copy that block of code from one statement to the next VS replaces the id values for elements. I know that there can only be on ID per element per page but how can I stop VS from doing this? Thanks.

Using ASP.NET 3.5's ListView and DataPager Controls: Displaying Data with the ListView

Prior to ASP.NET 3.5, developers who needed to display a set of records could choose between the GridView, DataList, and Repeater controls. The GridView provides rich data features, but has a very boxy layout; the DataList and Repeater allow for a more flexible layout, but lack the "point and click" data features found in the GridView, DetailsView, and FormView controls. The ListView bridges the gap between layout flexibility and built-in data features.

This article, the first in a series of articles on the ListView and DataPager controls, looks at the ListView's many available templates and illustrates how to display data. Read on to learn more!

WPF Tutorial - Using The ListView, Part 1

Many of the controls in WPF have a downright dizzying array of capabilities and features, due in large part to the composibility of all the components. The ListView control is a great example of this - the possibilities are almost endless. This series of tutorials on the ListView will hopefully make the space of possible options seem not quite as daunting

no intellisense, smart tag, extender wizard etc

Development Environment:  VS 2008 Pro, IIS 6, asp.net 2.x, sql 2005 server

Installed the version of AJAX Toolkit and Library for the .net 2.0 compatibility (as IIS is still using 2.x)

The problem is as that within the vs 2008 pro, when I select for example a button control...there should be an additional pop-up intellisense indicating...add extender.

to compound this, within the extender control ... the TargetControlID -- should be a drop-down list, indicating which controls are compatible with the extender ... there is no drop-down list.

even if I manually type the control to associate the extender with, this has no effect on the control (such as textbox control) -- as there should be another option appear indicating the association has taken place).

below is the steps to take (as written by MS) -- but this is what I am not getting:

"If the Button Tasks shortcut menu does not appear, right-click the Button control and then click Show Smart Tag."  -- the smart tag is not appearing

How to listen to events within a listview

I've got a listview and I've put a button control in one of the columns, I'm trying to figure out how I have listen to the button click within a certain row, but can't see the button in the dropdown for the IDs I can generate events for.

I'd like to get the primary key of the row that's been clicked on and then run a sql statement against it.

Any help would be appreciated.
