jQuery / javascript calling a webservice

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I've tried a bunch of different examples and still can't get this to work.

I have a jQuery GalleryView control I'm using and I simply want to log impressions.  I set up a webservice that works, but I can't figure out how to get it to work in javascript.  I have verified that the webservice is working as expected.

Calling a webservice in MVC using jquery works on dev box not prod box

I have a webservice that is part of the MVC project.  I am using VS 2010 MVC 2.0 on Windows 7.  When I run the web application locally the webservice call works flawlessly, however on the prod box using  2008 upgraded with asp.net 4.0 it fails.

I get an error "The controller for path '/services/traxservices.aspx/upDateCustomer' was not found or does not implement IController. "

Is there some type of issue with the settings in the global.ascx or in IIS that I am missing?

Any help would be appreciated.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Calling webservice from the server

Hi

I have a sample web service and aspx file. I deployed them to an existing website that contains classic asp files.

web-service: --- using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Services; [WebService(Namespace = "http://localhost/MyWebServices/")] public class MembershipRegisWebService : System.Web.Services.WebService { public MembershipRegisWebService () { //Uncomment the following line if using designed components //InitializeComponent(); } [WebMethod] public string HelloWorld() { return "Hello World."; } }

aspx.cs file: --- using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.Services; public partial class CallWebService : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { MembershipRegisWebService mrWs = new MembershipRegisWebService(); Response.Write("Calling web service:" + mrWs.HelloWorld()); } }

It runs locally, but it shows an error when running it from the server:

Server Error in '/' Application. Compilation Error Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the follow

Writing Data to database with jQuery Forms, ASMX Webservice, & JSON - help!

Hi,

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to submit data from a jQuery form to a ASMX webservice? I have gotten everything on the form ready to be submitted to the database and now I am stuck on how to send it over using $.ajax(). Everything I have read tells me how to get data from a webservice and display it with jQuery, but not the other direction nor how to access the json data within the within the webservice service(similar to a Request.Form approach with ASP.NET forms).

In other words:

1. What do I need to do to my webservice to make sure it can receive data from the jQuery form.

2. What do I need to do in jQuery to receive an acknowledgement the save on the server side was successful.

I can explain more if need be, but if there is a comprehensive tutorial on not only reading, but also WRITING data with jQuery, JSON, etc. I would love to get pointed in that direction.

Total newbie question: Calling jQuery in an UpdatePanel?

Hi,

Please forgive this ignorant question - I've used ASP.NET AJAX a good deal but I'm new to jQuery.  Specifically, is it possible to call or create jQuery events on the fly via an UpdatePanel?  For example, calling a jQuery modal or animating a Label (or <div> contained Literal), etc.

If anyone has any advice or could point me to some easy tutorials on mixing ASP.NET AJAX and jQuery, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Calculating GridView total using JavaScript/JQuery

Hello everyone.

One month ago I've had very nice conversation with a asp.net forum member asking about issue regarding calculation of GridView textboxes total using JavaScript. The main thing was to allow user to manually write values in the text boxes (placed inside GridView column) and if the value has changed automatically to perform calculation on client side.

At the end of the conversation, we came up to two solutions. The first solution was using plain JavaScript, but since I thought it was not so robust, and in order to make it more robust we would need to write few more functions. Therefore, I have simply proposed another solution using JQuery which came up much better, more robust with less code.

In this blog post I will show both of the solutions and will provide step by step explanation on how we did that.

Note: I'm using VWD.

jQuery- JavaScript Library Write less do more

This is introductory post jQuery an open source JavaScript library. I know what you guys thinking and I also know that jQuery does not required introduction. It is so much popular and most of web developers whether they are developing using asp.net,php,Jsp or any language on web they are using jQuery but this post is for who is not aware of it and or they are new to the web based programming.

We all are using JavaScript for client side scripting language almost 95% percentage of web application uses JavaScript as client script. We do lots of things with JavaScript right from the alerts to validation of controls to animation and now days we calling web services from JavaScript and fetching server side data also and rendering them into browser. If you are using JavaScript then you are following some patterns like selecting a element on and then perform some operation on that element on client side like do validation of  controls or changing the style sheet of  that element or animating them etc. jQuery help you doing this in rather simpler way so you can save lots of time doing other things instead of writing long complex JavaScript.

Why jQuery?

jQuery is a fast and concise JavaScript Library that simplifies HTML document traversing, event handling, animating, and Ajax interactions for rapid web development. jQuery is designed to

Example of calling AuthenticationService from javascript ...??

How to avoid network problems while calling a webservice in a SQL CLR trigger?

Hi All, My Goal: DB synchronization between SQL server 2005 and Mysql database via web services. I have created a SQLCLR trigger, in which i'm calling a web service to sync/update remote (MYSQL) DB over a specific constraints. After getting the acknowledgment from web service i'm updating the sync flag to success (In SQL SERVER2005). If any network delay happens i am unable to know whether sync has done successfully or not. How to avoid network dependency here? Is there any reliable queuing mechanism available in sql server 2005 to eliminate dependency over network? I am looking any suitable service/approach in sql server 2005 that can take care of calling web services as asynchronously and update the status of sync flag irrespective of network. Thanks in advance if anyone provide the good approach as step by step in detail.

Calling an asp.net web service from jQuery

As I have post it in earlier post that jQuery is one of most popular JavaScript library in the world amongst web developers Lets take a example calling ASP.NET web service with jQuery . You will see at the end of the example that how easy it is to call a web service from the jQuery. Let's create a simple Hello World web service. Go to your project right click->Add -> New Item and select web service and add a web service like following.   Now modify the code of web service like following. [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")][WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)][System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)]// To allow this Web Service to be called from script, using ASP.NET AJAX, uncomment the following line. [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService]public class HelloWorld : System.Web.Services.WebService{ [WebMethod] public string PrintMessage() { return "Hello World..This is from webservice"; }} Here please make sure that [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService] is un commented because this attribute is responsible for allowing web service to be called by Client side scripts. Now to call this  web service from jquery we have to include jQuery Js like following. I am already having in my project so i don't need to include in project just need to add script tag like following. <script type="t

calling a javascript function within aspx

i have a js method i wrote myself called sumAlert();  i want to call it in my aspx like this, when a user clicks on a button<asp:Button ID="Button" runat="server" Text="Submit" OnClientClick="if (confirm('WARNING! You will be unable to save again if you proceed')) sumAlert();"                        OnClick="Button_Click" />How can i get it to call the function if the user confirms OK?

return class to javascript from webservice?

Hi,I know i've seen a tutorial for this, but can't locate it anymore. I have a class Employee in c# side, I also have a webservice where I pass in an ID# and an Employee object is returned. Now I want this object returned to Javascript code, I know I've seen it done before, can someone point me to a tutorial that shows something like this being done. I'm using the MicrosoftAjax.js file.Thanks.

Calling Javascript from loop inside a Sub

Hi Guys, I had a copyfile sub that worked fine on my local testing environment in VWD 2008, but now that it is on the server does not work. I assume it is because it is looking on the server for the files, not the local client machine. I am now trying to use client side Javascript to mimic the process. I have created a JS function to do it, but I can't get it to call the JS function inside my VB Sub. Here's the code, thanks to all replyers in advance! Public Function Copy_Photo(ByVal path_in As String, ByVal newname As String) As String Try Dim ret_path As String = Me.Master.get_mug_shot_folder ret_path += newname Response.write("<script type = 'text/javascript'>CopyPhoto('" & path_in & "','" & ret_path & "');</script>") Return ret_path Catch ex As Exception msg_div.InnerText = "ERROR: Could not properly copy file " & path_in & " to location " End Try End Function    Notice how I tried using the Response.write method. It gives me an Object Required error everytime. Here's the JS function: function CopyPhoto(oldFile, newfile) { alert(oldfile + " " + newfile); var fso; fso = new ActiveXObject("Scr

InvalidCastException when calling JavaScript from C# control using a second thread.

Original Issue: I need to be able to call functions in the JavaScript of an HTML page (not ASP.NET) from a C# object embedded in that page.  The c# object has to be .NET 2 level. So I created a C# DLL assembly in VS 2010 which contains a class called NoUIControlClass. set the target framework to .NET 2.0 and made sure to check "Make assembly COM-Visible".  I also signed the assembly so it would have a strong name so I could install it in the GAC.  So far so good. Here is the batch file I run after the project is built to register the control and place it into the GAC: copy "C:\Users\x\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\NoUIControl\NoUIControl\bin\Debug\NoUIControl.dll" C:\Exploration\NoUIControl C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\regasm NoUIControl.dll /unregister C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\regasm NoUIControl.dll NoUIControl.dll C:\"Program Files (x86)"\"Microsoft SDKs"\Windows\v7.0A\Bin\gacutil.exe /u NoUIControl.dll C:\"Program Files (x86)"\"Microsoft SDKs"\Windows\v7.0A\Bin\gacutil.exe /i NoUIControl.dll This works and all is good.  Next I've turned the security level in IE all the way down for intranet and trusted sites.  Just to make sure that doesn't get in the way.  Here is the HTML file I serve from the web server. <html> <head
