I am coming to .net from php development. I am a little confused as when I should be reaching for (3rd party) . net controls. Many of the controls I am looking at, Infragistics, telrik, ajax control toolkit, ect, all seem to provide the same functionality that a client side framework provides.
Coming from php, my instinct is to forget about these, and handle much of the user interactions on the client side...am I missing something? This is what I am doing right now, I feel like this is a completely wrong way to approach .net development.
In case it helps, what I am worried about is the 'postback', ideally I don't want the page to refresh. Also speed, my experience with our existing (asp/vb) .net applications are very very slow -- my goal is rewrite to improve performance.
Any suggestions ( articles, books, advice...) is welcomed.
