I'm trying to SQL Server Standard on a Vista Laptop that has been used as a development machine in the past. The installation process had been failing so I removed SQL Server 2005/2008 completely from the machine.
The reinstall seems to work but I have no instance and no SQL Server Management Studio (which is what I'm really after)
I'm getting an error on opening SQL Server Installation Center:
In a Microsoft .Net Framework dialog box
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click ....
And error occurred creating the configuration section handler for userSettings/Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.LandingPage.Properties.Settings: Could not load file or assembly 'System, Version= 126.96.36.199, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c56193e089'

[I apologise for any typing errors]
I clicked continue, but something is not quite right here, what do I do?
