Endpoint not found Exception

Hi,    I Have created Services in WCF application and hosted in windowservice application. Application has build succesfully. And I have installed the .exe file through command prompt. But the problem is when proxy object call's from client side it throws following exception.   Could not connect to net.tcp://localhost:8073/Service1/. The connection attempt lasted for a time span of 00:00:00.9218750. TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it endpoint, base address should be configured in app.config file. Help me anybody.

WCF endpoint couldnt found for HTTPS

Hi All, I am writing a client to access webservice over SSL protocol. I installed a self-signed certificate on the IIS. The client is also running on the same machine. But it was throwing the following exception .. Below is also my service and clinet config file. System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: There was no endpoint listening a t https://localhost/SecureService/SecureService.svc that could accept the messag e. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerExcepti on, if present, for more details. ---> System.Net.WebException: The remote serve r returned an error: (404) Not Found.    at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()    at System.ServiceModel.Channels.HttpChannelFactory.HttpRequestChannel.HttpCha nnelRequest.WaitForReply(TimeSpan timeout)    --- End of inner exception stack trace --- Server Service Configuration <system.serviceModel> <serviceHostingEnvironment multipleSiteBindingsEnabled="true" /> <bindings> <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="wsHttpEndpointBinding"> <security mode="Transport"> <transport clientCredentialType="None" /> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> </bindings> <services> <service behaviorConfiguration="App_WcfWebService.AppWebServiceBehavior" name="A

RESTful WCF Service endpoint not being found by client

I created a RESTful WCF service which I plan to call from a client app (a custom toolpart in a Sharepoint web part), but while I can access everything just fine from a browser the client throws this error:

EndpointNotFoundException: There was no endpoint listening at http://mymachine:3217/Services/CtmsService.svc that could accept the
message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.
---> System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

My service's contract looks like this:

public interface ICtmsService
  [WebGet(UriTemplate = "/GetAllSites")]
  Dictionary<string, int?> GetAllSites();
...and the configuration looks like this: (which is more complicated due to needing dependency injection via Spring.NET to work)

more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found

This post is in continuation to the following post

I could resolve the later.  however after binding with namedpipe, I tried now to add an endpoint on tcp. hence I updated the host config file to the following

<service behaviorConfiguration="metadataSupport" name="WCFServiceComponent.DemoClass"

The pipe endpoint net.pipe://localhost.......... could not be found on your local machine

I am facing a problem getting metadata using named pipes. I saw a thread titled "

How to create named pipe WCF EXE using net.pipe" at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wcf/thread/168d7de1-d0f8-4f67-b989-d0746e76bec0?prof=required.

I have a service with a config file which I think it has all necessary config to respond to net.pipe requests (at the end of this thread) byt still getting the same error

"There was no endpoint listening at net.pipe://localhost/WCFService1 that cou
ld accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP acti
on. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

(system.IO.PipeException) The pipe endpoint 'net.pipe://localhost.......... could not be found on your local machine'"

In spite of the fact that the service is running in the console, using HTTP works fine.

Here is the config file :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<compilation debug="true" />
<!-- When deploying the service library project, the content of the config file must be added to the host's app

Handling 404 page not found with Error page

      How do i handle 404 page not found?

scripts file not found on server - 404

Fiddler is showing a 404 error when my published web application runs. the jquery.js file in
/scripts is highlighted in red by fiddler as not found. ( IIS log also shows the 404 error ).
I run the web app from visual studio, on local host - no problems. The publish is successful.
All the files are in the scripts folder of the web app on the server.

In the site.master I have:
<script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Visual studio does not complain about this. ( which indicates the file is found. )

Oddly, when I fully qualify the path, VS says file not found, but after I publish and run, fiddler
shows the jquery file being found and sent to the browser.
<script src="/MvcApplication1/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

when the <script> path is "../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js", the fiddler error is
404: /Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js .

when the <script> path is "/MvcApplication1/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js", fiddler shows the file
being sent to the browser from that /MvcApplication1/Scripts path.

Both the Scripts fol

urlrouting - page not found error

I have a dynamic data site setup and running locally fine from vs 2008.

When i deploy to a remote windows 2003 server (IIS6), all the pages also work ok apart from one page/table.  I can access it's list page,  but the edit and insert pages throw 404 errors.

I'm thinking it's a url routing/hosting issue as i've copied back the database from the remote server and it all works fine on my local machine.

Is there anything i can do to debug this behaviour?

Below is my register routes entry from the global.asax

Any suggestions greatly appreciated as, i've been stuck on this for days :(

public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)
    MetaModel model = new MetaModel();
    model.FieldTemplateFactory = new AdvancedFieldTemplateFactory();

    model.RegisterContext(typeof(Sponsorship.Data.Entities), new ContextConfiguration() { ScaffoldAllTables = false });
    model.DynamicDataFolderVirtualPath = "~/admin/DynamicData";

    routes.Add(new DynamicDataRoute("admin/{table}/{action}.aspx")
        Constraints = new RouteValueDictionary(new { action = "List|Details|Edit|Insert" }),

DirectoryEntry type not found

 Can someone tell me why the system does not recognize DirectoryEntry in the code below?  It indicates DirectoryEntry cannot be found.

using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.DirectoryServices;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
using System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement;

public partial class MyADGroups : System.Web.UI.Page

       public static ArrayList getuserattributes(string objectDn)
        DirectoryEntry objRootDSE = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + objectDn);
        ArrayList props = new ArrayList();
        foreach (string strAttrName in objRootDSE.Properties.PropertyNames)

An endpoint configuration section for contract 'xxx' could not be loaded because more than one end

I'm trying to test calling a webservice, I've found several free ones on http://webserviceshare.com, but none of them work for me.  Some of them give example calling code in C# which I've translated to VB.NET, they're typically just two to four lines, I don't think I've translated them incorrectly.

On that I've tried is US Zip Validator.  I added a Service Reference to http://www.webservicemart.com/uszip.asmx?WSDL, called ZipService.

I then call it like so:

            Dim myZipService As ZipService.USZipSoapClient = New ZipService.USZipSoapClient()
            Dim myCity As String = myZipService.ValidateZip("27707")

I get the following error on the first line of code:

"An endpoint configuration section for contract 'ZipService.USZipSoap' could not be loaded because more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found. Please indicate the preferred endpoint configuration section by name."

A page with information on this web service (including C# source code) is at:

Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'CurrencyProxy.CurrencyServiceSoap

I created 2 projects in my solution:

  1. Classic asp.net web service (asmx)
  2. Class library project which references service
  3. web site project which references class library project
  4. Windows app project which references service.

Both projects were created in 3.5 framework and in Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2.

I added web service reference to Class library project. When it asked for namespace I typed "CurrencyProxy". Projects build ok, but when I run web app, Class library throws an error: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'CurrencyProxy.CurrencyServiceSoap' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element.

I believe it has something to do with app.config in Class library project. Here is part from app.config:

<binding name="CurrencyServiceSoap" closeTimeout=

Bitmap FromFile space "file not found"

I am using aspose.slides to create PPTx's. Some of the process involves loading jpg's from another server and including them in the presentation. This works fine in my development environment. When I upload the site to its server, the jpg loading fails.

I am trying to access jpg's on the other server by:

   oFS = New FileStream(sFile, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)

This causes an access violation error when run from the server.

I also boiled the code down to reading the file directly:

   oImg = System.Drawing.Bitmap.FromFile(sFilePath)

This causes a file not found error.

We have narrowed the problem down to the fact that the File Path has a space in it. How does one solve this problem (while still keeping the space, there is a lot of legacy data)? I have tried replacing the space with %20 or +. I have tried using Server.UrlEncode. The error message always comes back with the encoding in place (like no decoding

Any decent docs on DD? All the ones I found are for .NET 3.5

I've been trying to find some up-to-date docs for DD in .NET 4 and have beens struggling. Most of the info out there seems to be for 3.5, along with a lot of comments about not using now as there's so much new stuff in the latest version.

I've seen the MSDN pages, which look typical MSDN, ie great if you want to look up a specific feature, but not necessarily the best place to learn from scratch.

Anyone know of any good learnign resources?

No Results matching your search were found. WSS 3.0

I've got one sharepoint 3.0 site, which is a hostNamedSiteCollection which won't return any results when we search it - searching the entire site or a single list both produce the same "no results matching your search were found".
The site uses Windows Authentication.  We have no Alternate Access Mappings set up. It is regular HTTP
I've added test content to other sites housed in the same Web Application and searched - that new data is appearing in the results.
I did a backup using STSADM and restored the site to my dev server (as both a hostNamedSiteCollection & a regular site collection) - searches return results just fine.
I deleted the site from the prod server and restored it (into a different content database even!) from a backup  I made with STSADM - no results are returned.
I restored the site to the same web application as a Standard site (http://webapp/sites/sitename) (NOT a host named site collection) and results ARE returned.

I've looked at the trace logs & application logs on the server, but can't find any errors that I can tell might be related..

This is the only site I've ever seen have this problem.  We have plenty of other hostNamedSiteCollections and search is working fine on them.
