Missing galleries after upgrading from 2007

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi, I've upgraded a site collection from SharePoint 2007 to 2010 using the database attach approach and after that I can't see neither the "solutions" nor the "themes" galleries in the upgraded site collection settings page (makes sense as these are new features in 2010).

I've tried deactivating/activating some of the features (publishing, standard features, etc.), but no luck. I've tried copying the libraries (_catalogs/theme and _catalogs/solutions) manually with SharePoint Designer from another SharePoint 2010 site, but didn't work. Do you know if there's a way of creating these libraries?

Thanks,

MOSS 2007 - "next 100" link missing from permissions pages

We're running two MOSS 2007 environments that are (should be!) identical for Development and Validation.  We don't have Production set up yet to compare...

In DEV, when you go to the Site Settings > View All Site Settings > People and Groups > Groups, you see a "1 - 100 >" link at the top right to page to the next 100 groups.  In VAL, we do not see that link even though we have more than 100 Groups (the list ends on the first page with the letter "l").

Everything we have looked at between the two systems looks identical, has anyone seen something similar and has a fix?  At this point we're waiting until we get the PRD environment set up to compare because we're stumped.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

In Sharepoint 2007 while creating a group "Give Group Permission to this Site" section is missing

I have a strange anamoly in Sharepoint 2007 but I am guessing I am missing some minor step since I am new to Sharepoint. I am trying to create a new group which I have done before successfully. 1.On the home page of the site,  I click Site Actions, point to Site Settings, and then click People and Groups. 2.On the New menu, I click New Group. 3.Type a name for the group, and then type a brief description of the group's attributes in About Me. 4.I change the owner of the group or click Browse to find an individual's account name. 5.In the Group Settings section, I click the options to specify who can see the members of this group and who can add or remove members. 6.In the Membership Requests section, I click the options (No, No) and no email address entered Here is the problem part: I am supposed to see  the "Give Group Permission to this Site section"  but I see only Create and Cancel buttons.   Can you please help why I do not see  "Give Group Permission to this Site section". Is there another way to assign group permission?

Can anyone share their Successful Story in Upgrading WSS 3.0 SP2 and MOSS 2007 SP2 in Production env

Hi All,

Can anyone here share your story/ detailed step in Upgrading your WSS 3.0 and SharePoint 2007 SP1 Enviroment into Service Pack 2 ?

It seems to me that SP2 for any of those products could render the current environment useless.

Any comments and thought please ?

Thanks.

When adding new calendar item the title field is missing - MOSS 2007

Hello,

A staff member just noticed that when adding a new item to a vacation calendar we have set-up - the Title column is missing.  They will finish creating the new calendar item and then when they go to edit it the Title column appears and they can fill it in.

Can figure out what caused this or how to fix - any ideas?

When I create a new test calendar the title column is displayed properly when creating new item - so not sure what happened with this calendar.

Hope someone has come across this before.

Thanks so much!
Tammy

Custom Content Types Missing after 2007 Upgrade to 2010

Hello everyone -

We have a portal solution leveraging custom publishing content types and page layouts in 2007. The database was backed up, and the upgrade was done via dbattach on a 2010 environment. The site works seemingly fine - though there is some strange behavior we noticed where a few content types are missing.

The Content Type Gallery lists only say 10 of the 15 content types we should have. Loading the Master Page and Page Layout Gallery we see the inheriting content type, though clicking on it yields in an error as though it cannot find the content type. These are all custom content types, though they are not very different from each other.

Has anyone experienced this problem and devised a solution? - I tried to iterate through the site collection via a console application to see if I could somehow update or intercept the issue with the missing content types to no avail. I'll be open to suggestions / tools recommended...

All the best,

Alex

Upgrading content databases from 2007 to 2010

Hi all

So I'm doing the database attach upgrade method, which involves building a new SharePoint 2010 environment on new servers and then migrating the content databases over to the new SQL server and attaching the databases to the new farm.  I've followed all steps in the Microsoft guides (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263026.aspx).  I'm at the point where I'm ready to attach the databases to the new farm.  As the guide recommends, I used the Test-SPContentDatabase cmdlet to see if there was anything missing from the farm that is required by the content.  Here's the error it's spitting out:

PS C:\> Test-SPContentDatabase -Name SharePoint_WSSContent -WebApplication https://url

Category        : MissingSetupFile
Error           : True
UpgradeBlocking : False
Message         : File [Features\ExcelServerSite\Microsoft.Office.Excel.WebUI.dwp] is referenced [3] times in the database [SharePoint_WSSContent], but is not installed on the current farm.  Please install any feature/solution which contains this file.

PivotTable Excel 2007 missing ALL levels

The Customer dimension has a hierarchy called Customers, with an All Customers level, and then the customerID. When I use this dimension in ProClarity, I have the All level, and then can choose if I want to drill down into the members.

Excel 2007 PivotTable skips the ALL levels and just goes to the first "real" level. How can I enable the ALL level in Excel, so that users can choose to see the details or not?

Thanks,

Lori

Upgrading servers in a MOSS 2007 farm from Windows 2003 SP2 to Windows 2003 R2

Are they any particular pitfalls to watch out for here?  We have two front ends in a load balance with an index server, andtwo SQL servers forming a failover cluster.

"User cannot be found" error when creating My Site after upgrading to SP2 for MOSS 2007

Hi

Hope this is the place for sharepoint gurus?

I upgraded MOSS2007/WSS3 to SP2 and since then I have been unable to get My Site to create new sites for existing domain users.

Some of the domain users created their My Site before the SP2 upgrade and they still work. We just cannot create new My Sites for existing domain users.

Now when we try to create a My Site we get this error:

"There has been an error creating the personal site. Contact your site administrator for more information."

I checked the event logs and usually no error is recorded when this happens so sharepoint does not even give me a breadcrumb (thanks!).

However, on one occassion I did get an event message after fiddling here and there and many attempts at trying to create a My Site, hooray! See below for all the glorious details of the event message, but the basic error is:

"User cannot be found".

I have checked the My Site settings of shared services (SSP1), veiwed user profiles, all the domain users are imported. So I have no idea why when creating a My Site it fails?

I have searched many forums and although they get the same error it seems to be for different reasons so the solutions don't help my situation.

Is there somewhere in Sharepoint that these domain users need to exist? Would I be able to c

MOSS 2007 Intranet Home page "My Links" suddenly missing. "My Site" is there.

Hi all,

If anyone has seen this issue, or is aware of it, your help is appreciated it.

Our intranet homepage is suddenly missing the "My Links" link on the top right corner.  The welcome message and "My Site" shows up.  When I click on "My Site" and it takes me to my profile, I can see the "My Links" on that page.

However, it is no longer showing on the homepage.  This is the case for all users.

How can I re-enable it or make it show on the homepage again?  Anyone know what would have caused it to suddenly disappear?  We have not been making any changes to the home page or the intranet.

Thanks.

Once again, 2007-2010 strange missing features.... etc

Ok, so I've been plugging away at cleaning up our 07 content db(s) and testing them Test-SPContentDatabase -Name -WebApplication
on the new machine (DB attach upgrade). All reports well on the preupgradecheck as well as wssanalyzefeatures from the 07 box but there are a few webparts from the Test-SPContentDatabase that I can't seem to track down WHERE they are on the site...
