form elements in wrong order on custon newform.aspx

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
In SharePoint Designer 2007, I created a new .aspx page in which I put SharePoint Control > Custom List Form using the default content type for my for my list.  However, in the UI, when I try to create a new list item, the form fields are not rendering in the correct order.  I double checked by column ordering of the content type and it is correct.  Why is my new custom form not using the same column order?  I shouldn't have to get into the html and reorder things should I?

Order of form items in DispForm.aspx and NewForm.aspx

I created a new list (it is not a content type).  I went into the List Setting and set the column ordering.  However, on my Form pages (DispForm.aspx, EditForm.asp, NewForm.aspx) the form elements are NOT following this order.  Can someone tell me what I have done wrong please?
There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

How to use getElementById to get the elements in a form

There are many ways of accessing form elements, of which the easiest is by using the cross-browser W3C DOM document.getElementById method. Before we learn more about this method, it would be useful to know something about the Document Object Model (DOM), the concept of HTML nodes or elements, and the concept of containers.

Each time you load an HTML page, the web browser generates an internal representation of the page in the form of an inverted tree structure. Let us look at a simple form. We will use this form later to demonstrate the use of the getElementById method.

Command Management: Use Design Patterns to Simplify the Relationship Between Menus and Form Elements

In Windows Forms applications, similar commands, such as those in a menu and their counterparts on a toolbar, are not automatically related. They don't fire the same event or run the same handler routine. Yet code that allows the same or similar user commands to fire the same code simplifies development.This article describes the principles of command management and why it's important to have functional commands that are not exclusive to any one UI element. In order to provide an MFC-like command management infrastructure, a design pattern is developed and applied as a series of C# classes.

(MVC & jQuery) Can't Add Datepicker to List of form elements

I'm still relatively new to jQuery (mostly finding things I need online and making simple changes). I have the following piece of code in my MVC app to render a partial view

<% int i = 0;
   foreach (var item in Model) { %>

        <td valign="top" style="border: none;">
            <%= Html.TextBox("MeetingList[" + i + "].Start", String.Format("{0:MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm}", item.Start), new { @style = "width: 120px;", @class="start" })%>
        <td valign="top" style="border: none;">
            <%= Html.TextBox("MeetingList[" + i + "].End", String.Format("{0:MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm}", item.End), new { @style = "width: 120px;", @class = "end" })%>

And I've tried the following to grab each of those 'MeetingList[...' items and add a datepicker to them,

        $(".start").each(function(index) {
            var $temp = $('#MeetingList[' + index + '].Start');
}); });

Form Action Button to pass parameters through URL and how to fill a NewForm with them

Hi I'm trying to solve a bigger problem we have in babysteps, and I guess after days of searching and trying I simply need to ask for help. The big picture is, that we're trying to put a Form Action Button (via Sharepoint Designer 2007) above a custom DataForm DispForm.aspx which is supposed to navigate to a NewForm.aspx where the Title Field is supposed to be prefilled with a parameter from the DispForm and the user should be able to add information to the item before it is saved. I found several explanations from people on the internet, but nothing really worked. The first babystep would be to get the parameter through the button into the url of the new item.   < input type = "button" value = "Zugriff Beantragen" name = "btnFormAction0" onclick = "javascript: {ddwrt:GenFireServerEvent('__redirect={../Zugriff Beantragen 2/NewForm2.aspx?test={ItemID}')}" />   That's the code for my button. Somebody wrote that should definitely work because SharePoint is able to replace {ItemID} with the actual ID of the item. Well.... it kind of doesn't. What I get as the end of the new URL is exactly "...?test={ItemID}"   I tried with different names for the ID, I added an @ before those ... no change. I read somewhere about javascript.functionName() which should work with all parameters of the item, but

How do I change the order of column names in EditForm.aspx

I have an Announcements list to which I've added extra columns: Publish (date), De-Publish (date), and Category (choice).  When I go to EditForm.aspx, the columns display in this order: Title , Body, De-Publish , Category and Publish . I'd like to change the order of the columns on EditForm.aspx so that it is Title, Body, Category, Publish and De-Publish . Changing the All Items view doesn't do it. How might I change the order of columns that is shown to the user?

SharePoint 2007, Modify Tooltip Text in SharePoint forms: EditForm.aspx and NewForm.aspx

I have a list in SharePoint that was created awhile back.  The names assigned to some of the columns in the list are no longer relevant.  Due to existing code, the column names cannot be modified to reflect the preferred names.  I was able to change the lables assiciated with these fields within forms NewForm.aspx and EditForm.aspx.  All looks and works just fine except for when the curser lingers in one of these fields, the tooltip that appears contains the underlining (original...no longer relevant) column names.  This is confusing to the user since the name within the lable and the tooltip are different.  I would like a way to either disable the tooltip from displaying or to modify it to display a custom value.  Below is the code from behind the form as it appears in Sharepoint Designer.  I would appreciate some input on this. <SharePoint:FormField runat="server" id="ff11{$Pos}" ControlMode="Edit" FieldName="My_x0020_Field_x0020_Name" __designer:bind="{ddwrt:DataBind('u',concat('ff11',$Pos),'Value','ValueChanged','ID',ddwrt:EscapeDelims(string(@ID)),'@My_x0020_Field_x0020_Name')}"/> <SharePoint:FieldDescription runat="server" id="ff11description{$Pos}" FieldName="My_x0020_Field_x0020_Name" ControlMode="Edit"/>

Hello, in my lists, i'm trying to figure out how to open the Newform.aspx in a new window. I've read all other  solutions but they don't seem to be very clear. What i want is when a user clicks on a the new button (Add a new item to this list) the form should open in a new window, and then once its been completed, and the user clicks ok, it should refresh the page and redirect to the AllTtems.aspx with the new list item that was created displayed. Please if anyone has a code to perform this. Help. Thanks for your assistance -Ug
