Visual Studio SQL Connection Wizard - where are values stored?

I have a problem with the Configuration Manager and though clearing the cached information would help, but I can't find how to do that.The problem - No matter how many times I try to create a new connection to an existing database, the wizard retrieves an incorrect listing of the tables for that database (this is just one database it is happening with).  I try creating different users in SQL Management Studio (which shows the proper tables) and I can connect fine with the new user, but these incorrect tables keep appearing. This only applies to the aspnet membership tables that, at one point I had named with an extra prefix (eg vw_aspnet_Users) but are no longer named as such. Now, only the vw-prefix tables show up and they don't exist anymore. Also I have made some of my own tables (eg aspnet_User_Info) which don't ahow up at all. When I make other new tables though, they seem to show up fine. Also, if I manually construct the query through the wizard, it will properly access the tables that don't show up.So, Is there someone I can clear/refresh wherever this information is being cached? Removing everything from the Web.config does nothing, as Visual Studio seems to save the connections elsewhere (connection strings from other projects show up in the wizard as well)Any tips are appreciated

Issue while creating a BCS entity in visual studio for SQL stored procedures

Hi Everyone,

                  I have an issue while creating an entity in Visual studio for SQL stored procedures.I have two input parameters startdate and enddate as datetime datatypes in the stored procedures.I have added two input parameters startdate and enddate in the Readlist and ReadItem methods and created two filter descriptors startdate and enddate of "comparison" type and related these to their respective input parameters.

                 In my readlist and readitem methods I have used LINQ TO SQL query to query the SP.When I debug the program,I am receiving an error message-->remote procedure cannot be debugged.Also my parameters are not being passed to the SP.Any help is appreciated..also if any one has step by step approach,that helps me a lot.

Selecting Oracle Stored Procedure in SSRS Crashes Visual Studio 2005 IDE

Problem Conditions

I have a very simple Oracle (11g) Stored Procedure that is declared like so:

CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE pr_myproc(L_CURSOR out SYS_REFCURSOR)
is

BEGIN
     OPEN L_CURSOR FOR
       SELECT
* FROM MyTable;

END;

This compiles correctly. The cursor contains col1, col2 and col3.

In SSRS, i have a Shared Data Source that uses Oracle OLEDB Provider for Oracle 11g:

Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle.1;

View Call Hierarchy window in Visual Studio 2010

Visual studio 2010 Ultimate is great IDE(Integrated Development Environment) and I am loving more and more whenever I found some thing new. While doing some Code and Review and other stuff with Visual Studio 2010 I have found one of most interesting feature in Visual Studio 2010 called "Called Hierarchy".You can navigate your code better with the Call Hierarchy feature in Visual Studio 2010.

To check out let's Create a sample asp.net MVC application like following .CallHirerchay

After creating a ASP.NET MVC 2 application it will create a basic simple application and we can run it and We have two views like home and about. We will check few code with Call Hirarchy. We can enable Call hierarchy window with two way one from the View->View Call Hierarchy like following or you can also use the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+K.

Stored Procedure stopped working in Visual Studio 2010; System.Data.SqlClient disabled?

Hi,

In Visual Studio 2010, I have a webform, with a button that attempts to manipulate a SQL table that has a lot of data (several years & archives of 12 people's emails: emailID, bodies, to, cc, bcc, date/time).  Problem has always been that with so many emails (500,000), I had to break up the manipulation jobs a bit, or VisualStudio/ASP.Net development server would freeze up running those SQL stored procedures.

So I determined, for each (.pst) email store, a unique series that was in each emailID - for instance, person A would have 00000195195xxxxx as their emailIDs, and person B would have 00000123456xxxxxx as their email IDs - and used those 30 [or so] identifying flags to recursively call a function that until yesterday was running my SQL stored procedures just fine.

YEsterday, while that was running, for giggles, I rebuilt the index on my table, and freaked out the development server by accident.  I had to rollback the database using SQL Server Management Studio, or the database was "Suspect".

Now, my SQL Stored Procedure in that recursively called function won't run, despite the fact that the original SQL Query [that gets the identifying flags into a Datatable, and runs the sproc on each "row"] works just fine.

I think it's a setting, to protect me ... but can't

ASP.NET 4 and Visual Studio 2010 Web Development Beta 2 Overview

Many exciting changes for ASP.NET are coming in the .NET Framework version 4. This document gives an overview of many of the new features that are included in the Beta 2 release of the .NET Framework 4 and of Visual Studio 2010.

Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2

This is a big deal. This isn't ".NET 3.6" - there are a lot of improvements of .NET 4, and it's not just "pile on a bunch of features so you get overwhelmed." I've been working with and talking to many of the teams involved and even though it's a cheesy thing to say, this is a really customer-focused release.

ASP 4 - Whirlwind Tour around .NET 4 (and Visual Studio 2010) Beta 1

There's a lot of stuff that's new and added in .NET 4, but not in that "overwhelming-I-need-to-relearn-everything" way. More in that, "oh, this is way easier/simpler now" way. Like, moving data around with ADO.NET DataServices is easy, binding with client templates is easy, there's F# if you need it, the "dynamic" keyword if you need it, Silverlight's already installed, oh, and the parallel stuff will freak you out, but in a good way.

Short Overview of SharePoint Features in Visual Studio 2010

As you probably know, Visual Studio 2010 was announced earlier this week and it contains a lot of cool features and project templates for SharePoint developers. Below is a short overview for some of the SharePoint development related features and project templates.

Visual Studio Add-In for Web Parts Generation

This article will introduce you to a new Visual Studio 2005/2008 add-in that can be used for Web Parts generation based on a prepared ASCX control/template. The add-in should allow Web Part developers to easily make Web Parts using the Visual Studio HTML designer. It should save you a lot of time and make Web Part development an enjoying experience even for beginners.

This article is written in the form of a step-by-step tutorial. It will give beginners a chance to successfully make, deploy, and try their first Web Parts, and will save some time for advanced users as you can always run into challenges when working with SharePoint.

Download and Share Visual Studio Color Schemes

The good news is that Visual Studio allows you to completely customize the editor background and text colors to whatever you want - allowing you to tweak them to create the experience that is "just right" for your eyes and personality. You can then optionally export/import your color scheme preferences to an XML file via the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

Visual Studio closes itself by opening aspx-Page designer after Windows Update

Hey Guys,

I've a problem with my Visual Studio.

On the 13th of August 2010 i installed a Windows update on my vista sp2 pc. For this date my Visual Studio 2008 sp 1 always has closed itself by opening an aspx-page in designer view. There is no error message just closing the window. I restored a backup of my windows from the time before updating it and it helped, i could open aspx pages in the design view till the update has been installed again automatically after rebooting the pc. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important. I hope you could help me out of this disaster.

Thanks

Nik

Visual Studio 2008 Memory problems

My memory in task manager reaches about 900,000K  and I don't know why it does this. Definately slows everything down, especially when I rebuild my tableAdapters, takes about 30 seconds sometimes to rebuild the project.
