Change grid view from table to other HTML layout

Hi,

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, I'm coming at this from a front-end perspective, and don't really know how to deal with data views in ASP.NET.

Basically, I'm trying to change the layout of some repeated data from a straight table, to something more design-heavy.  It's the same data, just re-organised slightly.  The current ASP.NET code looks like this:

		<table>
			<tr>
				<td>
                    <asp:GridView ID="GVMoments" runat="server" AllowPaging="True" AllowSorting="True"
                        AutoGenerateColumns="False" PageSize="20" RowHeaderColumn="FirstName"
                        SkinID="GroupSkin" DataKeyNames="moment_id"
                        DataSourceID="SqlDataEditMoments">
                        <PagerSettings Mode="NumericFirstLast" PageButtonCount="20" Position="TopAndBottom" />
                        <RowStyle />
                            <Columns>
                                <asp:BoundField DataField="moment_id" HeaderText="moment_id" ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="moment_id"
                                    Visible="False" In

Remove the lines from the query output

On TSQL Command of; set nocount onselect @@version Getting the output as;                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft SQL Server  2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86)  May  3 2005 23:18:38  Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2) How to remove the lines from the output?

SSRS2005: Is it safe to manually remove instances from the Keys table in the report server database?

I have a problem with redundant reporting services instances still hanging around in the initialization pane of the RS configuration wizard and I can't get rid of them. The problem arose when we had new webfarms and before I had removed all references to the old ones from the initialization screen, the old webfarms had been switched off, removed from the network and dismantled. Therefore when I try to 'de-initialize' them, I get an error stating that reporting services cannot connect to them and when I run reports, a fair few are trying to run on the old webfarms which no longer exist and are disappearing into the void. There's a table in the report server database called Keys whch contains details of these intances and i'm wondering if its safe to remove these via SQL commands without breaking reporting services on other machines.   As a side note: All this stems from the fact that when you uninstall Reporting Services, not all of the files / references are removed. So as a general word of warning, if you do an uninstall of RS2005, you'll need to make sure everything's gone before re-installing, throwing away old machines etc. These include folders in IIS and these old instances as mentioned above.

Remove the surrounding table from a DVWP?

I have an ASPX page that is doing custom layout. I have a DataViewWebPart on this page which creates some of the content, however, it (SharePoint's rendering engine) is putting a table and div around the DVWP - what I'd like it to do is only render the HTML that I have defined in the XSLT... Is this possible?? The surrounding table looks like this: <table TOPLEVEL border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <tr> <td valign="top"><div WebPartID="00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" HasPers="true" id="WebPartWPQ3" width="100%" OnlyForMePart="true" allowDelete="false" style="" > ... my content here ... </div></td> </tr> </table> Is there a setting on the <WebPartPages:DataFormWebPart> tag that can do this? I've had a quick look here (MSDN documentation) but it didn't really help. Thanks...! Alex

How to remove records from a table after certain days

I have records that were inserted into a sql server 2005 table using a stored procedure. I now need to remove or delete these records. The only problem is that the table does not contain a relevant column to define in my where clause when using delete command.

Is there any way I can identify these records for deletion.

Thanks.

Remove Table padding in MasterPage

Hi!

This is driving me crazy! In my MasterPage I have a table but I can't get rid of the cell-padding. The only way I managed to remove it is to add these styles to my CSS-file:

table
{
 border: 0px;
 padding: 0px;
 margin: 0px;
 border-spacing: 0px;
}
tr
{
 border: 0px;
 padding: 0px;
 margin: 0px;
 border-spacing: 0px;
}
td
{
 border: 0px;
 padding: 0px;
 margin: 0px;
 border-spacing: 0px;
}

But since this is my MasterPage this messes up all my GridViews in the contentpages. I tried to rename these Styles and add them to the MasterPages table-, tr- and td-Class attributes but the padding was back. Somewhere there is something saying to the table to pad it's cells, but where? Can anybody help me figure this out?

By the way, this is a Visual Studio 2010, DynamicData (LinqToSQL) website but I removed the reference to the  autocreated Site.css.

How to Alter a view to remove the Database Name on the from table in bulk

I'm not sure if there's an easy way to do this, but I want to change the "... from [MyDatabase]..[MyTable]" part in my view to remove the database part so it's just "... from [MyTable]".  There are about 100 views that have this.

We use this 3rd party tool to create our database tables and views (no way around this) and in their views they put "... from [MyDatabase]..[MyTable]" .  Then later we need to take a snapshot of that database, so we copy the mdf file and change the database name.  The copy is fine, but the views won't work because of this.  Is there an easy way to alter all the views to remove the datbase name?  There are 100-300 views I have to change, I don't want to write that many alter scripts.

How to remove duplicates from query results caused by table joins

It's been a while since I used SQL and I'm coming across a problem where by the database design is adding a lot of useless output to a query I need to run and I'm not very clever so don't know how to remove the crap I don't need.

This is what I'm up against:

Create Table #Planning(Assy nvarchar(255), PartNo nvarchar(255))
Create Table #PlanningCosts(Assy nvarchar(255), MaterialCost float, LabourHours float, LabourCost float)
Create Table #PlanningLabour(Assy nvarchar(255), OpNo Nvarchar(255), OpDesc nvarchar(255), OpTime float)
Create Table #PlanningMaterial(Assy nvarchar(255), Material nvarchar(255), MaterialQty float)

Export Visio Database Table Names to Excel

If you use the Enterprise Architect edition of Microsoft Visio for data modeling regularly, then there is a good chance that at some point you've wanted to export just the table names into Excel. You might want to do this to map logical ERD entities to physical data model tables, track project status by entity, or track overlap between database versions.

Building a grouping Grid with GridView and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit CollapsiblePanel

I've posted an update to this post to apply on demand loading of Details data using ASP.NET AJAX PageMethods. I'm demonstrating the usage if CollapsiblePanelExtender client events on the new post. Check it out.

I admit, Matt Berseth is really inspiring me! Few days ago I pass through 2 of his great posts:

.Surrounding your Data Table and Dialog Controls with ComponentArt Styled Panels
.Building a Grouping Grid with the ASP.NET 3.5 LinqDataSource and ListView Controls
The first one is pure design tips one which I used for making good presentation of my demo here. The 2nd post is actually the idea.

Insert value using Table Value Functions

a real gem in Sql Server 2008. mostly people still using Stored procedure may be they shifted to SQL Server but they are not using TVF right now.
