SSRS 2005 to 2008 upgrade: exporting to .PDF does not produce the same result

We have recently converted .rdl SSRS 2005 files to SSRS 2008 .rdl files. We do not have SSRS 2008 R2, we are working with the  first release. We are seeing issues when exporing a report to .pdf format:

1) when rendered in HTML, the function that displays page numbers (ie:page 1 of 2) for the report are correct. The standard function "Globals!TotalPages" is used to get the count of pages. We previewed a report in html in reports manager that had 1777 pages. when the report is exported to .pdf the last page displays page 1777 of 1816, even though there is no more pages beyond 1777.

2)When rendering the report in html a value is shown as "Caretaker1" but when exporting to adobe .pdf version 9.3, the same value is shown as "Caretaker2".

3)   One of our issues is

Upgrade from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 from SharePoint 2007 SSRS 2005 integrated mode

I"m attempting to upgrade from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 R2 x64 Enterprise on a server running Windows Server 2003 x64 Enterprise, SharePoint 2007 Enterprise, and SQL Server 2005 and SSRS 2005 Enterprise running in integrated mode.

I installed the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Technologies from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=35c3a13f-4b5e-4d4a-86e4-07ee307b9638&displaylang=en.

When attempting to install Report Builder 2.0, I get the error "Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint products and technologies is not installed."

When I try to run a report (existing 2005 reports already deployed), I get the error: "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object." The log has repeating ReportingServicesService.exe errors: #20015: Cannot open "Resources.en-US.resx": no such file or folder, and: Localized resource for token 'ManageDatasetCaching_Desc' could not be found for file with path: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Template\Features\ReportServer\ItemCustomActions\ecbExtension.xml" among other things.

Shared dataset in SSRS 2008 R2 running on SSAS 2005

I am trying to create a report in SSRS 2008 R2 using SSAS 2005 as a datasource. My dataset has a date parameter. When I create an embedded dataset in my report everything works fine, but when I create a shared dataset with the exact same mdx query, I get the following error: An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report 'xxxx' is invalid. The Value expression for the report parameter 'DateCalendarHierarchy' contains an error: [BC30034] Bracketed identifier is missing closing ']'. Does anybody have any ideas? Is this a bug? Thanks, Louis

Moving a Copy of SQL Report Server 2005 and Upgrade to 2008

Hello, We have SQL 2005 Report Server in a Windows 2003 64 bit server box. We want to create a copy of this report server database somewhere in the domain, so that we can access it for a different purpose. My question is, will there be any complications with this? I'm thinking about the encryption key that's needed to access the database. If we are successful with this, we might also want to upgrade to SQL 2008. Thanks for your help,   Elizabeth K.

Graphs stop displaying in Report Viewer Control after upgrade to SSRS 2008 R2

We are seeing an issue where certain graphs and guages are not being displayed within a report rendered in the report viewer control after we upgraded from SSRS 2008 to SSRS 2008R2.  You can see the graphs and guages render and then disappear from the screen when two other graphs are rendered.  When I export the report to Excel or PDF then all of the graphs and guages are rendered properly. There are a total of 3 graphs and 2 guages on the report - when it completes the rendering process, you can only see two of the graphs displayed in the report viewer control - as I said before, you can see all 3 graphs and 2 guages when exporting to Excel or PDF.  Using Internet Explorer v8.  This problem manifest itself right after the upgrade. Has anyone seen a similar issue?

Barchart migiration problem when I move it from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008

Hi I am having a barchart report in ssrs 2005 which  is going to dynamically generate the bars depending on the input parameters for example if we give 15 as input it is going  to generate 15 bar on the chart and if we give 25 as input it is going to generate 25 bars on the report.Report is working well in ssrs 2005 but when I migrate it from ssrs 2005 to ssrs 2008 and run the report it is working well when i select 15 as input it is showing me 15 bar with the names on x-axis and y-axis.But when I select 25 as input it is generating bar chart  and I see multiples of 5 like(5,10,15,20)  bars are getting the names displayed on the y-axis and rest of the names are not displayed on chart.I was trying to expand the bar chart  and trying to see the different. When I expand report is spliting into two pages and I see multiples of 5 like(5,10,15,20) bars are getting the names displayed and rest of the names are not displayed. So can anyone suggest me any solution.   Thanks in Advance

Upgrade from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 cause problems with MSDTC

We have recently upgraded our server from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008.  Previously we were running our asp.net application using MSDTC with no problems. Since we upgraded, we are encountering problems that seem to relate to Multiple Active Result Sets (MARS).  The error we receive is: "There is already an open DataReader associated with this Command which must be closed first" when we try and perform a save process.  To fix this problem we added MultipleActiveResultSets=True to the connection string.  We now get the error: "The transaction operation cannot be performed because there are pending requests working on this transaction." Within the transaction scope we save to a table and then load from the same table.  Our stack trace indicates this is where the first error occurs.  Again, this transaction worked using SQL Server 2005. If we do not use MSDTC by putting Enlist=false in the connection string, the request works. We are really stumped as to what to do.  We would prefer not to have to role back to SQL Server 2005 and would also prefer not to have to have sweeping code changes in our application.  We have test MSDTC by using DTC ping on our servers and it works. Your help is greatly needed and would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Steve and Nilesh

Slow sql-server after upgrade from SQL-Server 2005 x64 standard to SQL-Server 2008 R2 x64 enterprise

We moved our databases to new hardware today (using copy database wizard)

The new hardware should be better than the old one.

We went from 28 GB ram to 128 GB.

We went from 16 cores to 32 cores (with even more cache etc.). We also moved from external SAN with 40 disks to intern disks (8 Samsung SS805 100gb ssd slc)

According to our own metrics we could get twice the IO using IO m

SSRS 2005/2008 - Chart with bar graph not generating on subsequent executions of report even with mo

For a report executed from Report Manager that has a bar chart component, regenerating the report via refresh or view with same input parameters either gives a different result that is garbled or an empty chart (2008) or no chart at all (2005). I have the report set up to not do any caching, so that does not seem to be the issue. Is there some chart option I may need to set to get the proper chart display.

Report conversion from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008

I am converting reports developed in SSRS 2005 into SSRS 2008. In the report design interface I have several rows and columans of data that calculate count or rate. In addition to rows and columns, I have around ten hidden tablixes in which report expression calls hidden codes inside tablix to perform calculation with main report. My problem is when I set hidden tablix propert into hide, I am not getting correct calculation in my report.  when I change tablix property from hidden to show I will get correct calculation but I do not want to see those hidden tablixes in my report page. Is there any way  you can still call expressions inside hidden tablixes without turning on tablix property show in SSRS 2008? Is it a bug in SSRS 2008 reporting system? Please help me out!!

My operating system is windows vista.

Thanks!

Getting SSRS 2005 to work on Server 2008 R2

I reinstalled SQL Server 2005 x64 Standard Edition SP3 on a Server 2008 R2 box and installed IIS and SSRS as well.  SQL runs fine. SSRS is installed all configs look good, but I cannot get it accessible via the browser (//localhost/ReportServeror //localhost/Reports).

I have tried both 32 & 64 defaults in IIS AppPools and each gives me an error and I can't find any other resources as to what the problem is?

32-bit setting is giving me this error on /ReportServer:

Could not load file or assembly 'ReportingServicesNativeClient, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

64-bit setting is giving me this error on /ReportServer:

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error, Error Code 0x800700c1

32 & 64-bit setting are both giving me this error on /Reports:

HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized, Error Code0x80070005
