How to programmatically add controls to Windows forms at run time by using Visual C#

Create a Windows Forms Application
Start Visual Studio .NET or Visual Studio 2005 or a later version, and create a new Visual C# Windows Application project named WinControls. Form1 is added to the project by default.
Double-click Form1 to create and view the Form1_Load event procedure.
Add private instance variables to the Form1 class to work with common Windows controls. The Form1 class starts as follows:

Visual Studio .NET: Building Windows Forms Controls and Components with Rich Design-Time Features, P

This is the second of two articles discussing the extremely rich design-time features of the .NET Framework. Part 1 discussed the basics, showing you where to start and how to extend your control implementation through attributes and interfaces, as well as their effects on the property browser, code serialization, and other controls. Part 2 continues the journey by concentrating on design-time functionality that you can implement beyond your components and controls, including TypeConverters, UITypeEditors, and Designers. It would be impossible to cover everything you can do in two short articles, which is a testament to just how all-encompassing and flexible the design-time capability of the .NET Framework is.

Visual Studio .NET: Building Windows Forms Controls and Components with Rich Design-Time Features

Visual Studio .NET provides support for designing rich features into your controls and components, allowing you to set properties, set form placement, inherit from base classes, and much more. So how does Visual Studio .NET do all this? What does the Windows Forms designer do? What's the difference between a control and a component? How does Visual Studio integrate your controls so that they can access features of the .NET Framework? In this article, the authors answer these common questions by building a clock control and taking the reader along for the ride. In building the control, hosts and containers are illustrated, the property browser is explained, debugging is discussed, and a general overview of the design-time infrastructure is presented.

Add property to user control design time properties VB windows forms

hi  everyBody,   I've  created a user control that exports a given radGridView to many file formats like Excel, PDF, Csv,... this user control takes the Gridview object as aprobeity Public Class ucExport Private _grdName As RadGridView Private exporter As RadGridViewExcelExporter Private exportVisualSettings As Boolean Dim fileName As String Dim openExportFile As Boolean Public Property grdObj As RadGridView Set(ByVal value As RadGridView) _grdName = value End Set Get Return _grdName End Get End Property End class  how could I add this property to design mode, that's when I click F4, how can I add this to prosperities, rather than code mode

Thanks for guiding & helping me.

Application Architecture in Windows Forms 2.0

Applications have special support in Windows Forms. For starters, you can manage and tailor your application's lifetime, and, when the work flow is disrupted by an unhandled exception, you can choose from several methods of response. Then, there are several application models that you can employ, including Single Document Interface (SDI) and Multiple Document Interface (MDI) applications, each of which can support either multiple-instance or single-instance mode, the former the VS05 default and the latter requiring special consideration. All applications, however, can discover and use a wide variety of information about the system and environment they execute in.

Application Architecture in Windows Forms 2.0-Single-MDI Applications

Consider an MDI application like Microsoft Excel; files opened from the file system (by double-clicking) are all opened as separate child windows within the parent Excel window.7 For the first instance of an MDI application to open a new child window to display the file that was passed to the second instance of the application, the second instance must be able to communicate with the initial instance.

.NET 4 Web Application Startup Time

I was chatting with Jonathan Hawkins and some of the folks on the ASP.NET team about performance and Jonathan mentioned the startup time for large ASP.NET applications is improved on .NET 4. There are some improvements in the CLR and in ASP.NET itself that helped. If you have a giant app, you should do some tests.

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.

CLR Inside Out: Improving Application Startup Time

Visual Studio is a wonderful development environment, whose IntelliSense®, integrated debugging, online help, and code snippets help boost your performance as a developer. But just because you're writing code fast doesn't mean you're writing fast code.

Timers: Implement a Continuously Updating, High-Resolution Time Provider for Windows

The timestamps that you can obtain from Windows NT are limited to a maximum resolution of 10 or 15 milliseconds, depending on the underlying hardware. At times, such as when you need to timetag frequent events, it is desirable to achieve a higher resolution. For example, what if you want to be able to contact a thread or perform some other task at intervals more frequent than 10 milliseconds? Suggested ways of achieving better resolution include using performance counters in conjunction with the sytem time to calculate smaller time increments. But using performance counters is a technique that presents its own problems. This article shows one possible way of overcoming limitations inherent in this approach.

Windows Forms: Give Your .NET-based Application a Fast and Responsive UI with Multiple Threads

If your application performs any non-UI processing on the thread that controls the user interface, it may make the app seem slow and sluggish, frustrating users. But writing multithreaded apps for Windows has long been restricted to C++ developers. Now with the .NET Framework, you can take advantage of multiple threads in C# to control the flow of instructions in your programs and isolate the UI thread for a fast and snappy user interface. This article shows you how. Also, it discusses the pitfalls of multiple threads and presents a framework for safe concurrent thread execution.

Windows CE 3.0: Enhanced Real-Time Features Provide Sophisticated Thread Handling

Windows CE is a small, configurable, feature-rich, real-time operating system. In Windows CE 3.0, the real-time support has been improved. This article looks at specific support for the creation of real-time systems and how it compares to the support in Windows for the desktop. The way interrupt handlers, processes, memory management, and synchronization work in Windows CE 3.0 is discussed. An extensive look at threads and thread priority, misconceptions surrounding them, and their impact on performance is included. Refinements to the Windows CE scheduler and support for nestable interrupts are also covered.

An ASP.NET 4 Web Application Using the SqlTableProfileProvider - Doable or a Time Sink?

Have hundreds of ASP.NET developers been wasting dozens of hours each on something that can't be made to work in ASP.NET? This is too weird! I've scoured the Web in vain looking for an example where someone has implemented the Microsoft SqlTableProfileProvider in an ASP.NET Web application . (The SqlTableProfileProvider  lets you store Profile data in a normal way rather than as difficult-to-manipulate blob data.) There are plenty of implementations using the Web site model, including fellow...(read more)
