Hi Folks, I would like some advice if anyone else has actually tried....
I have production SBS2008 Premium Server on an HP Proliant ML350 G6, which has a live WSS site(s) based on CompanyWeb. I have run the Pre-Upgrade Checker and it has only flagged up 1 issue - the DataBase size (over 4GB) and uses Windows Internal DB.
We have purchased a copy of SQL 2008 R2 Standard with the intention of using this rather than SQL 2008 Express Edition R2, as our actual Content DB is 17GB and grows daily with new documents being added to the Library by users.
I am slightyly unclear on some additional steps I may need to take at STEP 6 in the Technet Guide (959273) detailing the step-by-step guide to migrating from WSS 3 to SPF 2010 on the SBS2008 box.
As I do not wish to use SQL Express Edition 2008 R2 SP1 on my SBS box, and use the Full SQL product, should I just substitute the creation of a named instance called "Express" using SQL Express Edition Management Studio, by installing the full SQL 2008 Standard
R2 and create a named instance to use?
In short, I want to follow the migration Guide substituting the use of SQL 2008 Express for the Full SQL 2008 Standard R2 Product.
In theory, I believe this should not be a big issue, however I am a bit wary considering this is a Live Production Installation.
