Working with BCS and Word 2010

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi,

I was recently trying to take the data for offline veiwing from SharePoint 2010 using BCS and Word 2010. I was able to take the simple data (text format) from the BCS and display in a Word 2010 doc but now I want to be be able to feed the data to get various other controls like graphs etc.

Is there any way in which we can attain this?

Microsoft Word hyperlinks not working consistently in Sharepoint

I'm running into an issue with some Word hyperlinks.  I have a Word document (with embedded hyperlinks) uploaded to a document library.  If I go into the library and click on the document, the hyperlinks work as intended (which is to say that the embedded hyperlinks open up a .pdf in a NEW window). However, on my home page, I have a link to the Word document directly (not to the library, to the actual file).  If I use this link, then the embedded hyperlinks open the .pdf in the SAME window. Part of the issue seems to be that when I open the document from within the library, it opens it with what I'll call a Word emulator whereas if I follow the link from the home page, it opens it with a regular web browser.  Is there a way to get the link from the home page to also use this emulator?  Alternatively, are there any other solutions?  I really need to be able to use the home page link method.

We upgraded to SharePoint 2010.  I have all the managed properties setup the same on both versions.  I had to modify the query to get past one error I was receiving to SELECT FileExtension, Filename, EffectiveDate, Title, Author, State, PolicyType, ApplicationType, Pol

Is SecurityToken.svc working in SP 2010 - RTM?

I have installed SP 2010 RTM build on 5-6 Windows 2008 R2 server and on all the server, whenever I browse to SecurityToken.svc, it give Internal server error. After enabling <serviceDebug includeexceptiondetailinfaults="true">, it shows following error An Exceptional Detail, likely created by IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults=true, whose value is: System..InvalidOperationException: An exception was thrown in a call to a policy export extension. Extension: System.ServiceModel.Channels.TransportSecurityBindingElement. Because of this error, our FormBased Authentication with LiveID is not working. Any Idea would be helpful.

New SP 2010 Installation - Can't Get User Profiles / Outlook / My Site stuff working.

Hello,   I have a new SP 2010 Installation. I did NOT set it up in Standalone mode. My users can log in and create their own My Sites. They can edit them, add content, etc. When using Outlook 2010, they add one another in the People Pane. It shows up under My Site > My colleagues that they are connected. However, in Outlook, the MySite icon in the People Pane has a red X on it. I thought that User Profile Sync Service might be the culprit after reading through various blogs. However, if I go to Central Administration > Manage Profile Service : User Profile Service Application... if I click Configure Synchronization Connections, the page comes up - "The query returns nothing." I try to click "Create New Connection"... I get an error message - Cannot navigate to the requested page while User Profile Synchronization is running. Please wait for the current Synchronization to finish.   OK - I thought that the query returned no results. I don't see the service running... can someone point me in the right direction?

Also the Views for the sub-sites are not working. However on accessing the sub-sites from the Server everything is working fine. Can anyone please help me?
