Posted By:      Posted Date: October 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I am very much confused and need a precise answer. I want to know whether to create and use the site created by the 'Reports Center' template under 'Enterprise' tab template section requires SharePoint 2010 ECALS/Enterprise Server? When I go thru the following urls I found that it really needs ECALS/Enterprise server. I could not find any information on this from microsoft web site. Please assist. Thank you

Data Points: The Enterprise Library Data Access Application Block, Part 3

E nterprise applications can have a wide variety of data update requirements. Sometimes you need to save multiple rows of changes at once within a single transaction. Other times, the user must be allowed to enter multiple rows of data, send them to the database in a batch; and if a row or two fails, only the rows that succeeded should be committed and remain committed.

A solid data access later (DAL) can benefit an application by hiding redundant tasks, helping handle exceptions more gracefully, helping clean up resources more efficiently, and providing a layer of abstraction from the database.

Enabling Enterprise Key Words for a custom list template

Hi, I have developed a list template in the usual manner, using features that create site columns, content types and then a list template that leverage's the content type.  I have a problem with Enterprise Keywords.  As this is simply a Yes/No type activation, I take it this column is slightly different from normal site columns.  When I first extracted my list template from a site with keywords activated, all I can see is that the keywords column has been added to the columns in the template.  There doesn't seem to be any setting that indicates that Managed Keywords is activated.  Regardless, I can create list instances from my template fine and the managed keywords column appears as expected.  The strange behaviour is that when I upload a new document and enter keywords for it, although these keywords are entered into the termstore, when I next view the document properties, the entries have dissapeared.  Is there something I need to do through code for this.  My problem is, as I want this setting to be enabled for a list template, How else do I activate the setting considering I cannot run code from a list template?  I hope someone can help, Cheers,   Amit

SharePoint Call Center Template

I cannot get the Date Created column to display a date.  Also, I cannot select a sort order (Ascending/Descending shows the same direction arrow). Also is there any documentation explaining the fields?  What is the difference between Service Representative and Assigned To? Can Assigned to person be notified when new items are added?

Web Part Error on a clean SP2010 install in Document Center

On a clean SP2010 install I created a Document Center site.On the main site page under the "Upload Document" web part there's another web part, which displays this error: Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as safe. [UnsafeControlException: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as safe.] at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPartImporter.CreateWebPart(Boolean clearConnections) at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPartImporter.Import(SPWebPartManager manager, XmlReader reader, Boolean clearConnections, Uri webPartPageUri, SPWeb spWeb) at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.SPWebPartManager.CompressWebPartNoSave(Boolean isClosed) Is this normal? Or is my installation somehow corrupted? And what is this web part and how can I register it as safe?

Do you need to license Office Web Apps seperate from sharepoint server 2010 enterprise license?

Hi All, I been reading this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#bkmk_ins_exis_farm  and have come to the conculsion that if you want word viewing services and power point services you need to license and download office web apps separate from the SharePoint Licensing/download. Can anyone confirm this that may know more about the subject? I thought those services would come along with enterprise but from what I’m reading I guess not.   Regards, Jeff

The Group Work Site template has the "What's New" web part on it's home page and I have the follow

I can't find that web part as something I can use elsewhere? As in, I can't add that web part on other pages made even on the same site. What would be ideal is to have that web part available to add as needed to other sites/pages of course. As it stands, for me it seems the only place I can use that web part is on the home page of a new "Group Work Site", i hope that I'm wrong. I've tried exporting the web part, but the importing does nothing when trying to import it to other sites, of course other 2010 sites. Please let me know how I may add that web part to my available to use web parts please.

Where did the Enterprise Collaboration portal template go?

Am I missing something? When creating a new site collection in SharePoint 2010, I can't seem to find the enterprise collaboration portal site template. I see the Publishing Portal template, but don't see the collaboration one.

Has the story changed here? Is the idea that we'll create collaboration intranet portals based on the team site template or that we should use the publishing enterprise template for intranet deployments now?

Error Upgrading Sharepoint License Type to Enterprise

I've tried upgrading the licence type from "SharePoint Server with Standard Client Access License " to Enterprise  using Central Administration > Convert License Type but the field where i am supposed to write the cd-key for Enterprise cannot be used. I click on it but i cannot write anything.

So i went to  "Upgrade and Migration > Enable Enterprise Features". I select the eterprise radio button and enter the new product key. I wait for some time and then i get this error :

"An error occurred while enabling Enterprise features. Refer to the event logs on your server machines for more details. For more information on how to fix this error, refer to help.

Click OK to return to the SharePoint Central Administration Operations page

The event log reports this critical error  :

Business Intelligence Center Template Missing

Have installed SP 2010 on Windows Server 2000 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

Everything seems to be working fine.  I have gone to my top level site in my default web collection (Port 80) and under Page Laytou and Site Template Settings have allowed any subsite to use any site template.  In that list, I can definately see "Business Intelligence Center (All)".

However, when I go to create a new site and it asks me for a template, I don't see the "Busines Intelligence Center (All)" template.   Thinking this was a bug I deleted the web application and recreated it and a site collection and the same thing.

So just for fun, I created a 2nd web appliction on Port 90 and created the same type of site collection and everything works fine.  I can add the BI template.

Am I missing something here?

According to this Technet article, there is a filter web part called the organization filter: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262682(office.12).aspx.

I can't find any information about it so I figured I'd ping the gurus... Ideas on what it is and/or where I can find it?
