Hi all.

I'm trying to create a new document using the 'New Document' menu item in Library Tools - Documents tab.

Clicking on it I get this message: 'New Document' requires a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible application and web browser. To add a document to this document library, click the 'Upload Document' button.

The same using custom content types.

What should I check? thanks in advance

This download contains an installable version of SharePoint Foundation 2010 Beta that can be used to assess and test the new functionality in this release. SharePoint Foundation 2010 is the new version of Windows SharePoint Services.

I am on Windows 7 64 bit with local SharePoint setup and working.  When I open SharePoint designer to connect to a site I get the error "Does not appear to have Microsoft SharePoint Foundation installed". I can view the folders however when I try to connect I get this error. I am accessing via Does not appear to have Microsoft SharePoint Foundation installed. I am connecting 'open site' - entering http://{machine node name} and hitting enter.   Ideas? (thanks)dave

I have a client who has recently upgraded their SharePoint system to Windows Sharepoint Foundation 2010 with Reporting Services 2008 R2 in integrated mode. I have configured reporting services and am able to deploy reports to SharePoint. The client created a document library before the upgrade to WSF 2010. I need to add Report Builder 3.0 to the New Document menu and found the following article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326289.aspx "Allow management of content types?" is set to yes under the advanced document library settings. The problem is that when I try to "add from existing site content types" the reporting services content types are not in the list. I appreciate any help you can give me.

I created a browser enabled form with InfoPath 2010. I then published the form by selecting the option "Publish form to a SharePoint library" and then selected "Form library" and finally selected "Create a new form library". As a result, a new form library was created.When I click on "add document", the browser opens a new form, which I can fill and save successfully. However, after the form is saved, whenever I click on the form name in the form library to edit it, the browser "opens with" dialog box opens, asking for an XML editor software. In other words, the form does not open in browser for editing even on systems that do not have InfoPath installed.

The form is browser compatible and the form library is configured to open browser-enabled forms in browser. The issue is that the form hyperlink is directly pointing to form XML file rather than pointing to InfoPath form services URL.

I would really appreciate, if someone tells me how I can edit the form in browser.

 

 

 

I made a backup of SharePoint farm from 2010 and tried to restore on a dev server and kept getting this error.  I looked at the versions of SharePoint on both servers, and they were identical:  14.0.4763.1000

I'm posting this although it is not a question, but a statement that might help someone else.  It took a while to notice that there had been an upgrade on the original server that the new dev box did not yet have... not an SP, but more like a hotfix type upgrade.

In Central Admin, go to "Upgrade and Migration".  Click on "Check product and patch installation status".  Scroll down the page of results and see if there are any links to updates that have been installed on the original server that are not on the new server, or vice-versa.  I did find a link on my original server.  Clicking on it opened the update page, so I copied the URL, went to my dev server, opened that page and installed the update, and voila!

Can any body help me how to create a new document programatically for OnClick of  a LinkButton on my Homepage  as per the requirement.

I had installed MS OfficeWebApps on my Development Server which its working fine but the "Create Document " is on Top Ribbon for which the link should be on the right side of the Content Page of Home.Aspx as per the req.

Pls guide me how to achieve this.

I have been unable to synchronize my MS Project with a SharePoint Foundation tasks list. Each time I try I get the following message:

"Unable to synchronize the project with the SharePoint tasks list because the list name contains invalid characters. Modify the list name and synchronize again. Valid list names cannot contain any of the following characters: !.[]'"

I click OK and the process stops. It creates the Task list in SharePoint but does no more.

The SharePoint task list name is not the issue. I've tried a few (Project Tasks, tasks etc). It's not the Task Name in Project either. I'm using a test project file with only two tasks called "Startup" and "planning".

Any ideas?

I have a SharePoint library on a MOSS 2007 server with six metadata columns. When a document is saved, a workflow populates five of those columns. However, when a document is open, the user can see all six of those columns (when they only need to enter data into one). I figured out how to edit the form that appears in Microsoft word using Infopath. However, I don't know how to get rid of the fields I don't want users to see. If I delete those fields in the form, the workflow gives an error.

Does anyone know of a good resource that explains editing these forms that show up in a document using Infopath?

I am currently analyzing the workflow capabilities available in SharePoint Foundation (free version).  One of the business needs my company has is that they would like to be able to submit a document that goes through an approval process.  For examples user1 adds the document then next another user or multiple users are sent an email stating that they need to go into SharePoint and approve this document, then it might be routed for more approval, etc.  My question is does the version I am currently working with support the use of an "approval" type workflow?  Do I need to upgrade to the pay version?  Thanks in advance.
