Custom directory Management service

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

hi,I want to customize the way contatc is created in AD by sharepoint when an email address is assigned to it.

for example, when an email address is assigned, it creates contact in AD but without Email address. I would like to update that Email address and other propperties like disply name when a contact is created.

Additionally I want t create folder structure (Container/SubContainer) which imitates Sharepoint contact's hierarchy.

like if on share point server list is created at home> subsite >myList. I want my contact to be created as homecontainer>subsitecontainer :contact, where homecontainer, subsitecontainerare containers in Active directory.

Smart Cleanup: Achieve More Reliable Resource Management with Our Custom C++ Classes

Managing resources in C++ is not easy. When you're unsuccessful, your app can leak all kinds of resources including file system handles, database connections, and, of course, memory. Even in garbage-collected languages like Managed C++, resource management is difficult because garbage collection only deals with memory management, not the other resources that cause performance problems. In this article, the author describes the SmartAny template library he created, which uses a policy-based approach to dynamic resource management. Readers will learn how to use the SmartAny classes and policies to ensure the proper cleanup of their resources, be they files, OS handles, or native and unmanaged objects.

A little background because I feel I have an out of the ordinary architecture in place and don't know if this is contributing to the problem.

We have an existing ASP.net application that is undergoing expansion.  The new functionality is all written in Silverlight 4.  As part of that expansion I gutted all the old Linq to SQL and put Entity Framework 4 into place.  To do this I created a standard .net Class Library and added my edmx files there.  Naturally, the business entities created by this cannot be used in Silverlight.  So I created a Silverlight Class Library and added all the business entities to that Silverlight Class Library as linked files.  I changed the name space to be the same.

So I have the following assembly / namespaces

Company.Project.Dal.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (.net 4 class library)

Company.Project.Entities.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (SL4 class library)

With this architecture I was able to share my business entities with my SL enabled web services, my asp.net projects, my silverlight projects.  Really it's a beautiful thing.

Once this was done I added "message" classes to Company.Project.Dal and again shared them with the other entites using linked files.  These messages are things like MyObjectRequest; they are class

Custom WCF Service (svc) gives address scheme error

Hi, I'm reading a book by Sahil Malik on building solutions for SharePoint 2010 (from Apress). One of the items explained is how to create a custom WCF service that can then be consumed in different scenarios (.NET app, silverlight, javascript). I followed the steps as given in the book, but when I try to open the URL to the service, I get this error: This collection already contains an address with scheme http.  There can be at most one address per scheme in this collection. Parameter name: item I have to mention that when I added the mapped ISAPI folder to my VS project, it didn't create the project subfolder automatically and I accidently created my files (svc and web.config) on the root level of the ISAPI folder. I created the subfolder manually and moved these two files in the subfolder, but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe I overwrote something on the root of ISAPI ? My web.config contains this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <system.serviceModel> <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="true"/> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="customBasicHttpBinding"> <security mode="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType="Ntlm" /> </security&g

javascript web service in different virtual directory?

Hi, I've searched far and wide, but can't find out why this is happening. I have a clientside javascript ajax call into a web service that works fine if both the service and the calling page are in the same directory. If I try to move the web service to another virtual directory, I get this: Exception type: InvalidOperationException Exception message: Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in '/js'. Here are the relevant code tidbits for the separate directories attempt. Thanks for any help! aspx file:<div> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager runat="server" ID="scriptManagerId"> <Scripts> <asp:ScriptReference Path="CallYahooQuotesServiceMethods.js" /> </Scripts> <Services> <asp:ServiceReference Path="/quotesservice/YahooQuotesService.asmx" /> <--- this works if remove /quotesservice/ and service is in same dir </Services> </asp:ScriptManager> </form> </div> <div>  <input type="button" value="Client" id="Button2" onclick="GetQuotes(ticker

Permissions issue for custom web service in the _vti_bin folder.

Hello, I have created a custom ASMX webservice that returns in JSON format so that I can call the data from JQuery on SharePoint page content.  I placed it in the ISAPI (_vti_bin) folder and it works just fine when I go directly to the web service and call it the way JQuery calls it: /_vti_bin/ServiceabilityCheck.asmx/GetSystemIDByZIPCode?ipaddress= Which returns: <string>{"SystemID":"5"}</string> When I try to call it from the SharePoint site with JQuery, it errors out and gives an unspecified error.  Fiddler shows {"Message":"Authentication failed.","StackTrace":null,"ExceptionType":"System.InvalidOperationException"} as the response from the web service call. When I have the webservice on an IIS web app outside of SharePoint, it works fine.  I have anonymous access enabled on the SharePoint site, why would it give me this error?John Chapman | Blog: http://www.johnchapman.name

Secure Service Store and custom web application.

Hello All,  I have a problem for which I would like to use the Secure Service Store.  I've searched for similar solutions involving the SSS but I've not had any success yet.  Maybe I'm missing something obvious or going about it the wrong way.   We have an external application (actually, a number of external applications) we'd like to embed in our SharePoint site using an iframe or the Page Viewer web part.  The embedded application uses a custom forms based authentication scheme and I want to prevent the situation where a user has to log into our application then log into the embedded application.  Is there anything available the help post the credentials from SSS to the custom application?  The only think I can think to do is write some code that mimics a post to the login page of the embedded app and, if needed, write a stripped down or simpler login page for the embedded app to make that easier.  For my immediate task I have quite a bit of control over the source of both application and could write custom code on both sides if I had to, but I'd rather have a solution that only involve configuration or, at most, custom code on the SharePoint side.  Thanks,  Brandon

Custom webpart displaying Reports from Reporting service

Hi          I created a report in VS 2008 and deployed to reporting service. Then when I access this report through a custom webpart some of the cell borders are getting disappeared from inside the table control. Even the cell is not getting misaligned within the cell. But the same report when I retrieve through ReportViewer builtin webpart. Its displaying without any issues. How do I fix such issues?

Invoking custom WCF service throws an Impersonation error from SQL

I've written a custom WCF service and hosted it in SharePoint. Accessing the MEX endpoint works fine. However, when I try to invoke the WCF service from my client code, I get the following error: 'A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - Either a required impersonation level was not provided, or the provided impersonation level is invalid.)'. This exception gets thrown even before my WCF service gets invoked. Attaching a debugger, I see the following stack trace associated with the exception: 00000000`0c2dd7d0 000007fe`e7589b95 System_Data_ni!System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException, Boolean)+0xd4 00000000`0c2dd810 000007fe`e7b7cd3b System_Data_ni!System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParserStateObject)+0xf5 00000000`0c2dd870 000007fe`e758c4ee System_Data_ni!System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParserStateObject.WriteSni()+0x5f77ab 00000000`0c2dd8f0 000007fe`e758bf29 System_Data_ni!System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParserStateObject.ExecuteFlush()+0xae 00000000`0c2dd950 000007fe`e757a1c7 System_Data_ni!System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.TdsExecuteRPC(System.Data.SqlClient._SqlRPC[], Int32, Boolean, System.Data.Sql.SqlNotificationRequest, System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParserStateObject, Boolean)+0x1189 00000000`0c2ddbf

silverlight + WCF Service + Dynamic proxy(custom binding) + basic authentication on iis

hi all, I am having an issue with how to get windows identity in silverlight project. Below is my scenario: the silverlight application need to get data from server via WCF service, i used the way that built dynamic proxy at runtime and aslo used custombinding in this case. Now my application need to deploy on iis and chosen "basic authentication" as a authentication mode. Thus i have chosen authentication mode in WCF was " <security authenticationMode="UserNameOverTransport">". At the client side where kind of project is silverlight that i need have to dynamic proxy with custombinding. My question is: In basic authentication how can i get windows identity to set to chanelfactory.Credentials: _channelFactory = new ChannelFactory<TWebService>(this._binding, new EndpointAddress(_endpointAddress));            _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName = new UserNamePasswordClientCredential();            _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName.UserName = "username";            _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName.Password = "password"; actually, i do not want to use Windows a

Service for reading custom DLQ in WCF MSMQ 4.0

Hi folks, i want to write the web service that will be read messages from DLQ.   As i understand if the message can not be delivered(there are other cases such as timeout, authentication etc.) from Client to Service, then message will be placed to DLQ(in this case i use custom DLQ), and DLQ Service will be called automatically.  I wrote the 3 services: client, service and DLQ Service, but  when i turn off the service(server) and make client calling service, then message is not placed to DLQ(appropriate methods not called in DLQ Service). But when i turn on service messages are delivered to service.  My code below :  // server app.config  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration>   <system.web>     <compilation debug="true" />   </system.web>   <!-- When deploying the service library project, the content of the config file must be added to the host's    app.config file. System.Configuration does not support config files for libraries. -->   <system.serviceModel>     <services>       <service name="Service.MyService" behaviorConfiguration="Service.Service1Behavior">         <host>

Custom InstanceStore and WF service (xamlx)

I tried to use XmlWorkflowInstanceStore from WF_WCF_Samples(Application\PurchaseProcess) with my WF Service but I get exception on the client side after invoking a service method - Expected Process received null. (Process is my received operation name) I have debugged the XmlWorkflowInstanceStore.TryCommand and for the LoadWorkflowCommand my workflow is loaded from database to context (InstancePersistenceContext) - method ends without any exception - but on the client side i get received null exception. Can someone tell my what i'm doing wrong? Do i have to set some other context arguments? Are there any guidlines for writing a Custom Instance store ( i can't find any decent tutorial)udione
