MVC validation message space on IE 7

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 04, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I am using MVC 2 and for validation messages it is as below.

<li><%= Html.ValidationMessage("City")%></li>
<li><%= Html.ValidationMessage("Name")%></li>

But the problem is when it is viewed on IE 7 (all validation messages are grouped as 3-4 each) it shows a big white space. But on IE 8 it is working fine. I need to render same on both browsers. Please help me on this.

thank you.

Any idea on how to perform this?

Could not allocate space" message when there's available space and DB growth is set

I have a clustered SQL instance (version SQL2008 SP1 CU5) ; database size >1TB; there is a partitioned table with total size 50MB and a maintenance job to re-organize index on one partition of this table. script as below:

then I got error msg:

Error: 1105, Severity: 17, State: 2.
Could not allocate space for object 'dbo'.'MyTable' in database 'MyDB' because the 'Data3' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

I have 36 files on filegroup Data3; 28 files are full without autogrowth; 4 files have autogrowth=100MB and almost reach max size; last 4 files have autogrowth=100MB and far from max size; all these 8 files have enough space to grow on disk. Log file =128GB and was almost empty.

there was no backup db/log activity when error popped up.

I have no clue how could this error happened. Can any one help?

SharePoint 2010 - Column Validation (List Level) User Message Missing

I first saw this issue being discussed in January 2010 here, but there has not been any response in some time.

What basically happens is when you set column validation for the list level (not per column) the message that alerts the user that the column does not meet the validation requirements is completely missing.   Both the default message or a custom message do not show up.

Does anyone know if there is a hotfix for this issue yet?  I would expect more than a year later there would be one, but if so I can't seem to find it.  I would really like to correct this issue as column validation is a nice enhancement over SharePoint 2007.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Server side validation of Fileupload control not working

I've tried this method in my code behind to try and validate that the Fileupload control has a file or not. I get the error message the the event "Server Validate" cannot be found. Can anyone tell why? Thanks.

Public Sub CustomValidator1_ServerValidate(ByVal source As Object, ByVal args As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ServerValidateEventArgs) Handles CustomValidator1.ServerValidate

' Get file name

Dim uploadAvatar As FileUpload = DirectCast(AdvertisementForm.FindControl("uploadAvatar"), FileUpload)

Dim UploadFileName As String = uploadAvatar.PostedFile.FileName

        If UploadFileName = "" Then
' There is no file selected
            args.IsValid = False
Dim Extension As String = UploadFileName.Substring(UploadFileName.L

Inserting personal error message in ValidationSummary

I am creating a web form that requires a lot of validation. I use many of the validation control in asp.net already like RequiredFieldValidator and CompareValidator.

My Problem: after my custom validation for the value entered return an error message, and I pressed enter key when the field is empty, my custom error message is overlapped by my ValidationSummary.

Setting my custom error to visible = false on button click also does not seem to work as it requires for me to enter the value first.

This made me think, is there a way to insert my custom validation inside the ValidationSummary as an error message like for other validation control?

Thanks in advance

Integer Validation

UpdatePanel is not a known element - message when upgrading to 1.0 ajax

It worked on one of my old pages.  I change the web.config, renamed all the <asp.

On some aspx page it doesn't recognize the updatepanel.  It only does on one page.  If I create a new aspx page with a different name - then it works.

Should I just create a new web project ajax - then copy all my code into there?  Or is there a way to get those old pages to recognize the new ajax controls?

VS 2010 HTML validation "in CSS" option - where the hell is it?

In VS 2008 there is a very useful feature of background HTML validation - it checks if CSS class name is valid i.e. it exists in one of the linked css files. But VS 2010 Express does not do that any more. And the relevant setting in Options->Text Editor->HTML->Validation->in CSS is not there. Ok, maybe they made it paid for option? VS 2010 Professional? Not there. Or maybe VS 2010 Ultimate? Not a trace.

1. am I blind?

2. they decided it is too convenient to use and removed it?

3. they will "introduce" it in SP1?

What is going on? That one thing made me move back to VS 2008 web developer.

create user wizard login error message dont show in a message box?

i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new user

registers. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.

there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.

If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.

It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already exists

from the create user wizard membership  UserName and Password Textboxes

is it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?

Very Basic Question - Error message running first page

Hi Everyone,

I am running Windows 7 and I have gone into Control Panel and activated all of the IIS Functions.

The web application I am running was downloaded from the net (and has worked on other machines previously).  Once I downloaded it, I moved it into C:/inetpub/wwwroot/code/main.asp

I am a bit of a novice at this!  But I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

I get the following error when I try and run the web application through IE:

"An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator. If you are the system administrator please click here to find out more about this error."

(When i click the "click here" button it just goes to the IIS site).

Appreciate any help I can get!
