Restore failing on Microsoft Tape Format version

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am trying to restore a DB from SQL Server 2008 Web edition to my localmachine which uses Express Edition.

When I run a RESTORE DATABASE command I get the error:

Msg 3243 - The media family on device 'c:\family.bak' was created using Microsoft Tape Format version 1.48. SQL Server supports version 1.0.

I can't see why its giving me this as the version on SQL on both machines is the same (except for Web vs Express)

I did a query to find the production version and other stuff and got this returned

Server:10.0.2531.0, SP1,  Web Edition (64-bit)

LocalMachine: 10.0.2531.0, SP1,  Express Edition with Advanced Services (64-bit)

Anyone know why its not working?

Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParserClient, Version=10.0.0.0 -- Again it seems

Ok I created a project and installer, the project uses the SMO assemblies.  On my system and all my test seems it installs and works fine.  After installing on other system I am starting to get error reports because "Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParserClient, Version=10.0.0.0" is not installed on the system.  I have been doing some digging and found the below link but that only seems to help after the fact.  I need to include the correct assemblies in my installer.  Currently the package include the list below which does not include the problem file.  I tried installing SP3 on SQL 2005 but that does not seem to have helped.  What is the correct way of getting this assembly installed on the client server.  I am not happy with giving everyone the below link.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=228de03f-3b5a-428a-923f-58a033d316e1 Packaging file 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dll'... I do not see these two classes in version 10 of this namespace and I am not finding any documentation explaining what happened to them.

Hello to everyone. I have a .exe which uses the Server Management Objects(SMO) When I try it on my pc it runs without any problem. But on another pc it gives this error: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I'm using SQL Server 2000 and for the application: Visual Studio 2005. Any idea would be very useful!! Thanks in advance!!

SharePoint Version 2.0 (WSS 2.0 SP3) Content Database restore to new farm

Is it possible to use an SQL backup from a sharepoint Version 2 SP3 database to restore the content on a new server farm and attach to a new web applicaiton. NOTE: This is WSS 2.0. In WSS 3.0 this is a very simple task, but it is not the same in WSS 2.0 (the add content database option CANNOT be used to attach to an existing content database like it does in WSS 3.0). The options I have found appear to say you need the configuration database from the old server then it can be done. I am migrating from an outsourced deployment, so I do not have access to that. Plan B is to do a sharepoint STSADM backup. THis seems to be a more likey way to do it.

Dear ASP.NET I keep getting this strange error (below) on my local machine on the first time the page loads, Then if I reload it - it loads correctly... What is really strange is that it does not happen on the server (same settings)   I'm using AJAXControlToolkit.dll version 4.1.40412.2 and this script manager (if not I get the Common.Common.js error)<%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="AJAX" %> <AJAX:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server" ID="_scriptManager" AsyncPostBackTimeout="600" EnablePartialRendering="true" EnableHistory="true" />   I also tried to add this: <runtime> <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity name="Microsoft.Scripting.ExtensionAttribute" publicKeyToken="28f01b0e84b6d53e"/> <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0" newVersion="4.0.0.0"/> </dependentAssembly> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity name="AjaxControlToolkit" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35"/> <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0" newVersion="4.1.40412.0"/> </depende

Microsoft.NET version 3.0 Install Error: Installation failed for Windows Communication Foundation. M

Please help! I've been trying for the last day and a half to properly install Microsoft.NET version 3.5 so that I can install TurboTax and do my taxes. I was only on version 1.1. Multiple tries to upgrade to 3.5 was giving me a code 1603 error on install on "Microsoft.NET version 2.0a". I followed advice from forums here and elsewhere to uninstall and reinstall my prior versions. I also used Windows Install Cleanup before reinstalling. I keep getting to the same result when I try to go from version 2.0 to version 3.5. In my last attempt, I went all the way back to version 1.0 and installed each step up to 2.0 SP1 with (allegedly) no problems. This last time I decided to upgrade to 3.0 instead of going right to 3.5. Now I get the following error message: [04/03/10,04:07:14] Windows Communication Foundation: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Windows Communication Foundation. Report Format RDL Version Control

Hi, I've been using file name with date plus the time stamp as my version control. As my library grow it's getting out of control and there are chances that I mistakenly saved the file over the previous version. What is the best practice and tool for RDL report format version control?

Cannot Restore Backup from Sharepoint Server 2007 to Sharepoint Server 2010 Trial Version

After installing the trial version of Sharepointn 2010 I wanted to restore my Sharepoint 2007 sites to it but received the following error:  "The site collection could not be restored. If this problem persists, please make sure the content databases are available and have sufficient free space." I went on to create a new content database in sharepoint 2010 but it still did not work. The old database i.e the one used by the sharepoint 2007 server is SQL 2005. During the installation of the sharepoint 2010 version I selected SQl Server Express for the database. Is there any specifics for migrating from MOSS 2007 to sharepoint 2010? Thanks for helping

Why is it looking for: Microsoft.SharePoint.Search version 14.0.0.0 when I'm installing SharePoint

I had SharePoint 2010 installed on Windows 2008R2 test box. I then upgraded it to a DC, and it broke SharePoint. In the meantime, I was asked to put SharePoint 2007 on, as a non-Microsoft SharePoint add-on that we want to test is not yet compatible with SharePoint 2007. I have removed every trace of SharePoint 2010 that I can find, but I am running into difficulties with configuraing SharePoint 2007. It installs successfully, but when it reaches task 2 of the SPTCW it fails. The error is: An exception of type System.IO.FileNotFoundException was thrown. Additional exception information: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Search, Version 14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.   I know enough to know that it seems to be looking for SharePoint Search from 2010, but I have removed all traces of 2010. I'm guessing that there is a DLL or something that is from 2010 that hasn't been written over when installing SharePoint 2007, and it's calling for the Microaoft.SharePoint.Search.   I've been into c:\windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL and there is no evidence of a Microsoft.SharePoint.Search   I am hoping that I don't have to rebuild the server, but I'm pretty stuck now. I've spent 2 days on the whole SharePoint nightmare.

The backup file should be restored to a server with version '14.0.0.5050' or later

Version 10.50.1600 is incomapitble with version 10.00.1600... During a Restore

SQL Server 2008 R2 Express is installed on Machine A. I just installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition on Machine B. I made a back up on Machine A. I copied the .bak file to Machine B. Using Management Studio I create an empty database on Machine B with the same name as the Database I had backed up on Machine A. Still using Management Studion I tried to restore the Backup from Machine A to Machine B. I received the Following error:

The Database was backed up on a server running version 10.50.1600. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running 10.00.1600...

First, I find this message confusing. I though the Developer edition was the equivilent of the Enterprise Edition. Going on the assumption (yeah, I know) it strikes me as odd that the Express Edition has a higher version number, 50, than the Developer Edition, 00. Am I reading that correctly?

The real question here is how do I move a database from the Express Machine to the Developer machine? Neither is a production database so there are no time constraints such as Customer ordering will be down while I do the copy.

Thanks in advance for your help.

version dependency while backup restore of SharePoint 2007 Site Collections

hi all

I am aware of a version dependency on the stsadm -o backup/restore operation.

But will the same dependency exist for a content DB backup restore..

i.e. for example will we able to restore a content DB backup taken from a server with version say 12.0.0.7777 to a server with say 12.0.0.6666 assuming that the versions of SQL is the same in both cases.

Will the version difference in SQL create issues

Thanks in advance
