Sharepoint Designer - Conditional Formattting with column not in view

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I'm trying to apply conditional formatting to a view and it works, but only if all the columns the conditional criteria are based on.

This sort of defeats the purpose since I want to just highlight an the Title of the list item if a column within the list item that is not currently visible meet my criteria. I'm trying to save screen real estate space by displaying fewer columns and also to try to increase page rendering time. However, I doubt I'd really be decreasing page load times if I'm still requiring even data that is not displayed to be read.

Anyone know of a workaround?

Sharepoint Designer 2010 modified view breaks "hyperlinks" column and formats all hyperlinks to the

I have been trying to perform a simple task with sharepoint designer 2010 that keeps breaking one of my list colums (in the custom view that is).  Background:  I have a list that we are using to assist with Document control in our organization.  The list consists of a few columns: Document number, Title, Owner, Doc Type, and file link (hyperlink to a pdf).  When I create a new out of the box standard view, everything works as desired.  However, I need to adjust the column widths on a couple columns in SharePoint designer, which seems to break the file link column functionality (all of the hyperlinks are now formatted to go to the same document, thought the file paths in each list item are correct).  Funtionality of the file links column works perfectly, until I make a single change to the view in SharePoint designer and save.  Any insight on this issue would be greatly appriciated.

How to create scrolling table for columns in a SharePoint Designer Data View

I have a fairly complex SharePoint Designer 2007 Data View they have added two more requirements.

1. Have the columns on the right side be able to scroll left to right as there is a large number of columns, while the first 3 columns on the left side stay locked in place.  This is only one list not two, and because of some other requirements I have it must remain to be just one list.

2. Then they also need to have scrolling up and down of the entire list with the headers locked in place.

The first requirement is more important than the second, but preferrably I need to do both.

I am new to XSL so not familar with the syntax. Is this something I can do on a custom Data View? Does anyone have any examples of how?

I have a drawing that show how it needs to look but I don't see an option here to upload a graphic.

So here is a link to my graphic example uploaded to my blog area: http://lindachapman.blogspot.com/  or just the image here: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_aB01ue__NvQ/TGL42MOvrGI/AAAAAAAAAA4/c3xP4uCy4BU/s1600/Scrolling.png

I failed to mention that 3/4 of the columns are HTML Calculated fields wh

Cannot access parent site list from subsite in XSLt List View webpart in sharepoint designer 2010

Hi    We are using sharepoint 2010  for internet facing sites for our big client in healthcare domain .  I am using XSLT list view webpart in sharepoint designer 2010 for retrieving contents from sharepoint list & displaying it by using XSLT List view webpart in publishing sites. We are having lot of list in rootsite collection, If i am creating pages by using XSLt list view webpart in root site collection I can access the list,View and Display in Pages by XSLT List view webpart. Now the requirement is i have to access the list in roosite collection(parent site) from subsites.  In Sharepoint designer 2010, while i am inserting XSLT list view webpart, i could not find datasource to access the list that exist in rootsite collection(Parent site) from subsite. Below is the the code i am using for accessing the list& view from parent site & creating the pages in parent site by using xslt list view webpart,now i wants to access parent site list from subsite by using XSLT list view webpat in subsite pages.  Pls let me know what i have to change in the code level <WebPartPages:XsltListViewWebPart runat="server" Description="The list for the conditions details" ListDisplayName="" PartOrder="2" Default="FALSE" HelpLink="" AllowRemove="True" IsVisible="True" All

Sharepoint Calendar export to Outlook but can only view the Title column

I have created a Calendar in Sharepoint for booking out company vehicles. The fields I have created are: Vehicle (Choice), Driver (User/Group), Start & End Times, Title (text), DisplayField (Calculated text based on Vehicle + Title...... it would be nice to include Driver but it seems Sharepoint cannot handle the User/Group datatype in a calculated field.....but I digress). I use the DisplayField calculated field in my default calendar view in Sharepoint. All is good at this point. When one connects it to Outlook (via the Action menu in Sharepoint) the calendar is added but all the entries show only the Title field. If I double click on an entry, only the title field appears - the Vehicle and Driver values are missing. When I try to create a new entry - only the Title field (plus other default Outlook fields) are available. So: How can one display a value other than Title by default, and how can I display the other columns when looking at the event detail?

How do I get column values in Sharepoint designer so I can use them as a variable in code block?

The code below is in my EditForm.aspx and it works but instead of it outputting "This is just a test!" I need get a number that is stored in a column named Phone Number that has 5555555555 stored in it and have the line that says TD2.innerHTML = "This is just a test!"; ouput what ever number is stored in the Phone Number column. Here is the code that is in my EditForm.aspx <script type="text/javascript">function DisplayItemID(){       var TD1 = document.createElement("TD");       TD1.className = "ms-formlabel";       TD1.innerHTML = "<h3 class='ms-standardheader'>Test</h3>";       var TD2 = document.createElement("TD");       TD2.className = "ms-formbody";       TD2.innerHTML = "This is just a test!";       var IdRow = document.createElement("TR");       IdRow.appendChild(TD1);       IdRow.appendChild(TD2);       var ItemBody = GetSelectedElement(document.getElementById("idAttachmentsRow"),"TABLE").getElementsByTagName("TBODY")[0];

Data View Web Part in SharePoint Designer 2010

Is Data View Web Part (aka Data Form Web Part) in the SharePoint 2010 has changed from the SharePoint 2007 or Is it working differently in the SharePoint Designer 2010? In SharePoint Designer 2007, whenever you have data view web part on the page, there is little handle to click on the top right of the data view web part to show Common Common Data View Tasks. Also for each cell, there was a handle to show xsl:value-of tasks which was great for formatting. Is that option is gone in the SharePoint Designer 2010?

Conditional formatting on a joined subview using SharePoint Designer 2007 does not work

I have 2 SharePoint lists, one is a parent task list and the other a child task lists.  In SharePoint Designer 2007 I have created a combined datasource from these 2 lists.  From there I created a new ASPX page inserting the parent list as a dataview and the child as a subview.  So far so good, all is functioning as you would expect.    Now I need to apply conditional formatting to cells and rows in both the parent and child lists.  I can create a very simple condition on a row or cell of the parent list such as "If ID Equals '2988' format the background color as green" but no conditional formatting appears for the row where ID = 2988.  Incidentally, if I change the condition to "not equals 2988" the background changes to green. The line in the code view of Designer appears as follows:  <xsl:if test="../../../Rows/Row/@ID = '2988'">background-color: #00FF00;</xsl:if> I've seen this question asked here and in blogs but never answered.  If anyone has a solution, I would love to know what it is. Thanks; Dave  UPDATE:  it doesn't seem to matter if you add the additional fields as a joined subview or not.  If I add 2 data views, both using the linked data source which is configured to JOIN the contents of the data sources the conditional formatt

Applying conditional formatting to the 'AssignedTo' column does not work in a data view using Shar

This one is throwing me for a loop.  I've joined two lists using "Linked Sources" in SharePoint Designer.  On a new ASPX page I added a data view and added 3 columns (Title, Priority and AssignedTo) as a multi-Item view.   I can select a row and apply conditional formatting to the Title field (changing the background color if @title = 'Parent 1') and the changes are displayed in the design pane.   The only oddity there is that I have to go back and edit the condition in advanced mode, changing the XPath expression from ../../../Rows/Row/@Title = 'Parent 1' to @Title = 'Parent 1'  and then it seems to work just fine. Here's the problem.  I want the condition applied to the AssignedTo column (hide row if 'AssignedTo != 'John Doe')  If I create a condition to hide contents if the AssignedTo = 'John Doe' it creates the XPath expression ../../../Rows/Row/@AssignedTo = 'John Doe'.  When I save it, the row is still visible.  If I edit the XPath expression, changing it to @AssignedTo = 'John Doe' and save it the row is still visible.  The same is true if I simply try to change the background color, conditionally formatted  against the AssignedTo column. Does anyone have any ideas here?

SharePoint Designer 2007 - Customize List View - Error when saving view ASPX page

We have a custom list definition that includes custom site columns.  When we try to open one of the list view aspx pages in SharePoint to update the view query we get an error when trying to save the page in SharePoint Designer 2007.  We receive a warning that the operation will customize the page from the site definition, which is fine.  And then get a general "Server error: ServiceRequestorID" alert.  ServiceRequestorID is a custom site column used by the list definition.

ServiceRequestorID field definition:

<Field ID="{FA39D24D-AB40-4b1d-BD80-94ABE34A7578}" Name="ServiceRequestorID" DisplayName="Service Requestor ID" StaticName="

Can SharePoint Designer view the version history of a list?  I want a workflow to send an email only when a specific column has been modified.

Summing a calculated column with comma's in sharepoint designer

Hi,

Sharepoint designer has the trait of getting goofed up with calculated columns that display with a comma.  I typically deal with this by doing a format-number(number(translate(@MyCalculatedColumn,',','')), ###$%%^formatstuff).  this replaces the comma's with nuthing so it will format as a number.

I'm trying to do a sum now...is this possible?

i.e.

  <xsl:variable name="Rows" select="/dsQueryResponse/Rows/Row[contains(@FileRef,$TheIDweWant)]"/>
  <xsl:variable name="zNumMales" select="sum($Rows/@MaleLives)"/>
  <xsl:variable name="zTotalMaleVolume" select="sum($Rows/[number(translate(@MaleVolume,',',''))])"/>

The zNumMales works fine...it's just a number column populated by a workflow.

The zTotalMaleVolume is calculated, has commas so it displays as blank, we need to get rid of the comma's.  the above syntax is upchucked...anyone happen to know what it is?

Thanks,

S'

Sharepoint Designer - Conditional Formatting Problem

I've been creating some basic conditional formatting scenarios using Designer ... but I'm very new to this and need help with two topics that I can't get to work.

Problem 1:

When my condition criteria is met I want to display a graphic in the background, but the left of the actual text for that column.

Example: I have a list of orders and when the priority column says rush, I want to display a small graphic to the left of the text for that column and shift the text to the right by the width of the 40 pixel graphic.  I've looked through all the different settings in the "modify style" dialog box and have used trial and error, but the darn graphic keeps displaying behind the text only. UGH!  I've been working on this for 2 hours now and can't figure it out.

Can someone tell me what parameters to set so the text is shifted to the right 40 pixels so the background that is left justified is visible?

Problem 2:

In this case, I can't figure out how to write the formula to tell   If  [DUE DATE] is less then 5 days from today I want the background cell to change color. I know how to change the color, but can't figure out the formula for the life of me.  Can someone give me the formula?

Here's what I tried using in the xpath advanced

sharepoint designer 2010 customize xslt "entire view" or "customize item"

In SharePoint Designer 2010, under Customize XSLT what is the difference between "Customize Entire View" and "Customize Item"

I ask this in part because neither Google nor Bing can find any result for the query ´sharepoint designer 2010 customize xslt "entire view" or "customize item"´

SharePoint Designer seems to time out generating some data view web parts, reasons?

I am trying to add a few DVWPs to my site's default page using SharePoint Designer. I find that I can add some of these with no issues, I pick the data source and 'Show Data' immediately shows the fields to select from. For another list, selecting show data leads to a long period where SPD appears not to be responding before eventually returning the message 'The server could not complete your request.....'. Clicking 'Details' shows that there is no message returned.

The list I am attempting to query now contains only 2 rows of test data. If I drop a list view web part of the same list on the same page the data appears instantaneously.

Any suggestions on why some lists could prove problematic in a DVWP in Designer?

EDIT: If I select to convert that List View Web Part to a Data View I get the same lack of response from Designer

How to Activate Datasheet View Inside SharePoint Designer 2010

Hi,

Is there a way to open the datasheet view of lists inside SPD2010?

I use it constantly in the front end, but after gutting a page for a project, now the ribbon and all controls are gone, so i have to edit each item one by one and it sucks!!!

Any help would be appreciated.
