horizontal navigation menu instead of vertical

Hello I'm a newbie and using the internet/publication site type. Is there a simple way to have the Navigation (menu) oriented in a horizontal with dropdown menus instead of vertical? It would also be nice if the horizontal navigation wouldn't not scroll with the rest of the page. Thanks! Top navigation menu render problem

Hi, we have a problem with top menu used in a sharepoint site. There is a main site and one subsite wich inherits navigation from the parent. When we are viewing the main site top menu renders ok. When we are viewing child site, with some computers and browsers (not all) instead of the name of the parent site it apears the link. Name of the main site is 'Activity' Name of the subsite is 'Programs' Problem Accesing main site menu renders like ->    Activity  |   Programs Accesing child site menu renders like ->     sites/activity  |   Programs I have uploaded some image to clarify http://yfrog.com/jltopmenurendererrorp   At the master page the top menu is set in this way     <PublishingNavigation:PortalSiteMapDataSource ID="topSiteMap" runat="server" EnableViewState="false" SiteMapProvider="CombinedNavSiteMapProvider" StartFromCurrentNode="true" StartingNodeOffset="0" ShowStartingNode="true" TrimNonCurrentTypes="Heading" /> <SharePoint:AspMenu ID="TopNavigationMenuV42" Runat="server" EnableViewState="false" DataSourceID="topSiteMap" AccessKey="<%$Resources:wss,navigation_accesskey%>" UseSimpleRendering="true" U

Crystal Report viewer navigation buttons not working

Working in Visual Studio 2008 and using the packaged Cystal Reports (version 10.5). I have a couple pages that use the Crystal Reports Viewer to display the reports, and I use the CRV navigation buttons to page through large reports. Problem: The Next button only goes to page 2. The Previous button goes to Page 1 every time. I've read that this is because the binding of the report occurs in the Page_Load() and the CRV paging resets every time the report is rebinded. It was suggested to move this into Page_Init() which should only fire once, save the report in Session state, and then rebind on post backs. I've tried this, but my code never seems to reach the Page_Init(). In fact, I don't even see Page_Init() as an option. I've tried protected override OnInit(), but it fires every post back so that's no good. Does anyone have suggestions for a solution? Where is Page_Init() in Visual Studio 2008?  Thanks for any help.  -Robert

asp menu working fine in the dev environment but not on server

Hi guys,        I am sorry to be asking what is probably a really stupid question, but i have a problem with my asp menu, when i run it on my dev machine(thru vs2010) it works perfectly, all the menu's are displayed correctly with the correct child items in the correct order but when i publish it to the server all the menu items become flat and take up the whole page. I am populating the menu using a reentrant function as follows to call the function and add the menus i am using Dim childMenuItems As List(Of MenuItem) = CreateMenuLevel(0, uniquemenulist)childMenuItems.ForEach(Sub(n) NavigationMenu.Items.Add(n)) Public Function CreateMenuLevel(ByVal parentId As Integer, ByVal menulist As List(Of MenuList)) As List(Of MenuItem)        Dim menuItems As New List(Of MenuItem)        For Each menuListItem As MenuList In menulist.Where(Function(n) n.ParentId = parentId)            Dim MenuItem As New MenuItem            If (Not String.IsNullOrEmpty(menuListItem.PagePath)) Then                MenuItem.NavigateUrl = menuListItem.PagePath

Global Navigation dropdowns not working in IE7

I have done a lot of small (insignificant) javascript customizations to my master page, and I have done these customizations to other pages and had complete functionality.  My site's top navigation bar (global navigation) is not working properly in IE7.  The dropdown menus do not drop down.

Has anybody worked through a similar experience?

WPF- Back/Forward navigation UI not working when Html web files are displayed in Frame Control

I am integrating (web) html files in my WPF application using Frame (say Source=http://www.microsoft.com)

I set the JournalOwnership="OwnsJournal" and

The navigation UI is visible and disabled initially when the page loads up (which is fine), but when I click on links the Back/Forward button is not enabled.  Interestingly the context menu shows Back/Forward and I can navigate that way. Do you have pointers?

Thanks for your help.

Menu - Role security not working on second level of sitemap

I have role assignments on both the first and second level of my menus within my sitemap file.  The first level works fine, and I only see items assigned to my role.

But roles assignments seem to have no effect on the second level.  It seems like if you have access to the first level, you have access to everything on the second level.

Is this correct?

From my sitemap (either a SalesRep or an Administrator can see everything underneath):

    <siteMapNode title="Administration" roles="SalesRep,Administrator" description="Admin" >

      <siteMapNode title="CompanyMaintenance" roles="SalesRep" url="~/Admin/CompanyManagement.aspx" />

      <siteMapNode title="Initialize Roles" roles="Administrator" url="~/Admin/Roles.aspx"/>

From my config:

    <roleManager enabled="true" defaultProvider="SqlRoleProvider">

SharePoint 2010 Navigation Menu

I have created a custom menu using basic HTML <ul> tags in SharePoint 2010. I have set Anonymous access to the entire site but I don't see the menu unless and until I sign in. For a anonymous user the default Global Navigation is being displayed even though I have deleted the navigation through SharePoint Designer.

Navigation Menu with MVC

I have a scenario I'm not sure how to handle, and am hoping someone can point me to an example or best practice.

This is for an application where you can fill out screens in order, or jump around.  My site.master has a ContentPlaceholder for Navigation, and one for the main content.  The content pages each RenderPartial a user control that has PREVIOUS and NEXT buttons, which post back to the controller, which saves (or returns to the same View if !ModelState.IsValid), checks which button was clicked, and navigates.  That part works just fine.

I also want a list of screens in my Navigation pane that are also links.  In fact, as links (or ActionLinks), they work fine, but my problem is that they don't give the current controller an opportunity to save the data.

How do I get links in a separate ContentPlaceHolder to trigger an action on the current controller?  (Note that each controller has an Index, Create, Edit, and Delete, and the action, once fired, will have to determine whether there's anything to save.  But I think I can handle that part.)

- Buildings (index, create, edit, delete)
- Vehicles (index, create, edit, delete)
- Equipment (index, create, edit, delete)
- Contractors (index, create, edit, dele
