Ajax update panel refresh and dropdown behaviour in firefox

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have found an odd bug in my application.  I have a dropdown status which is bound to my gridview. On selecting a status from the dropdown the selectedindex then fires and binds the results to the gridview.

Now the strange behaviour in firefox and not IE:

If I have a dropdown open and an ajax update fires on my gridview the option is selected from the dropdown (just by hovering my mouse over it rather than selecting it) and the results bound to the gridview. This does not happen in ie as you should have to physically select an item from the dropdown rather than firefox selecting it for you because you happened to hover over an option when the update event fires.

Anybody had the same problem or does anyone have a fix out there?

Your help would be appreciated.

AJAX update panel and update progress controls

I have writtena Crystal reports web application, that prompts ths user for parameters and then apply them and exports the report to a folder as .rpt and then display the report. I prompt the parameters on one screen and then display the report on another page. I have the AJAX update panel and update progress controls in the parameter page. When the user enters the parameters and click on ok, I export the report and then loads the report to a session report document and transfer the user to the second page where the report is displayed. I use the following code to do transfer to the seconds page. I have excluded the report load and parameter assign code here.rpt.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.CrystalReport, "c:\reports\testrep.rpt") Session("rpt") = New ReportDocument Session("rpt").load("c:\reports\testrep.rpt") Response.Redirect("show.aspx") In the second page I have the following: rptViewer.reportsource = Session("rpt") My problem is this works one time and then stops working the second. What I found out was it comes to the statement: Response.Redirect("show.aspx") But it does not even load the show.aspx page. It stays on the parameter page. There are no errors displayed. I could not see any errors when I debug the application also. And out of the blue it works

Refresh update panel when database changes

How to refresh only single update panel

I for a page with multiple update panel in parent page, I got a button that will open a child window, after I close the child window, how can I refresh the parent page? And I only want to refresh a single update panel section instead of all other update panel section.

page inside update panel doesn't refresh the session object after postback of any control

I have many controls like dropdown, radiobuttonlist, etc on my page and I put all these controls inside the update panel so that the page doesn't look to be posting back when something is selected. Now the working on the page is very smooth. But the session object isn't getting refreshed even if I postback to the server and as a result even if the users are working on the page they are being sent to the login screen after 20 mins.

Is there anyway where I could put all the controls in update panel and still refresh the session after any postback(dropdown selection)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

How to Refresh Gridview data from update panel in specified time

update panel woes... question for superstar AJAX gurus

This has got me completely confused... not sure if I've been at it too long and am missing something, or if this is a bug?

I have a webform with an AJAX update panel. In the panel there are 2 controls. One is a textbox, the other a listview.

I'm using the ClientScriptManager to take advantage of the "OnKeyUp" event to cause an autopostback.

When text is entered into the textbox, it runs the textchanged event, which puts data in the listview.

So far so good. All works fine with one exception.

Problem is that with IE8 the textbox loses focus on the SECOND text entry, even though it's specified in my code to focus on textbox after the textchanged event fires. And with Firefox, it doesn't cause the textchanged event to fire at all.

I don't get it??

Here's my code...

    Sub Page_load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Me.Load

        TextBox1.Attributes.Add("onKeyUp", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(TextBox1, ""))

    End Sub

    Sub TextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.TextChanged

        Listbox1.Items.Add(New ListItem("ListboxItem", "ListboxValue"))

        TextBox1.Text = ""

refresh update panel content with new css styles

Ok, I was working on this last week and took a break from it to 'regroup' and start over.

Here is what I'm trying to accomplish.

1. have  a web form with dropdowns to allow the user to select font sizes, colors, background image, etc.

2. I want to the form to be updated with the new styles in an update panel.

3. Once the user clicks the apply button, I want the updatepanel to refresh with the new styles.

I tried this by creating an css on the fly, but the updatepanel wasn't picking up the new css without doing a full page refresh, (which we don't want to do).

I only want the updatepanel refresh and either use inline styles, a <style> on the web form etc,

any suggestions or recommendations on how to accomplish something like this?

CheckBox Control in Ajax Update Panel

Is there anything special I need to do with a CheckBox control placed inside an Ajax Update Panel?  I've use the update panel many times before with other .NET controls, but for some reason the CheckBox control isn't triggering it's oncheckedchanged event.  Here's what I have:

<span style="position:relative; left:410px; top:0px">
        <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
                <asp:CheckBox ID="_cbTrack" runat="server"
                                            Text="Track Carrier"

AJAX Update Panel Queries....

Hiii Everyone...

I Want to build a page in which there are two text boxes and a drop down list....

Depending on the value of textbox and drop down list i am trying to get values from database....which checks for several roll number...

I want to count few roll numbers say 20 (in my form it depends on the values of text box and drop down list )whose status is loggen in that is i have set it in my database as (1) and the update panel should continously check whether all the 20 roll numbers have logged in or not....and if it gets the count correct a button is placed in the form named...BtnStart which should be enabled...i have tried a lot..gone through many websites for update panel but was unable to sort out the problem....can anyone give me a good suggestion to create this form...or can anyone tell me how to do this ....

And inside the update panel i want to get all the roll numbers whose status is logged in either in grid view or any other good control...

i am developing the application in vb.net so plz try to post the vb code...or else c# code...

Hope will get a good suggestions...

Have a nice day friends :)

Treeview problems in Update panel

I tried using this code, on a Treeview inside an update panel, which is populated dynamically in code behind.

However, it doesnt give me the required functionality.

Following is my aspx code for the TreeView and the TreeView populating logic:

<div id="treelist">
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1&quo

Accordion Control with Panel...Add an Update Panel?

I have an accordion control in my web site.  And in one of the panels, I have a drop down list box where, when the user selects an item, it updates the labels right below the ddlistbox.  I have it so that it maintains the scroll position when the ddlistbox has an autopostback, but it's very obvious that the whole page posts back.

My question is, can I/should I just enclose the ddlistbox and the labels (and a couple of text boxes) in an AJAX update panel?  I already have a ToolScriptManager (because of the accordion control), so I don't need to have another script manager, right?  I can just put the update panel (with the other controls inside of it) right in the accordion panel, right?  Then when the ddlistbox posts back it won't have the delay of the whole page posting back?  And it'll still execute the event handler for the listbox selection change?

Does this sound right?  I'm just looking to make the post back "invisible", and I would like to do a partial postback of just these few controls.

Thanks in advance! :)

re load javascripts and jquaries after ajax refresh

I use javascript hints for my textbox and when page loads I set that, but after submiting data for example in the case of error in input and need for inputing again the data it doesn't show the hints, which means that when ajax sends Httprequest and gets Httpresponse and refreshes the update panel , that panel doesn't accept loaded jscripts again, so they should be loaded again.

I do not know how to do that in asp.net, any tips or recomendations?
