Site map with > 150 nodes

Based on the turotial, it mention that if my sitemap have more than 150 node it will have impact on the performance.

Is the any option if i do have more than 150 mode to include in the xml file (with security node trimming=true, where i inserted role=ABC in every node.)

Display homepage node along with child nodes

If the first Sitemap node is your homepage/default and all other nodes are supposed to be children / grandchildren of the first sitemap node in a web.sitemap, how do I set up my web.sitemap to enable me to display my cssFriendlyMenu with the homepage node along with the nodes that are 1 level down from it at the same time as in :

...or is it not possible to have the first sitemap node displayed along with the nodes that are 1 level down from it?  Do I need to have a different starting node rather than my homepage node?

Child nodes not allowed.

Hi everyone.

I'm positive that, by now, a lot of people have run into this problem but even with all the forum posts with great answers, I still can't seem to get to the bottom of it. Here are some specs:

  • Windows Server 2008
  • Visual Studio 2008 x86

So here's the issue:

I have VS2008 installed on the server listed above. This is our development server and everything is created and tested here. I have created an asp.net application, tested it on the dev. environment and everything works great. When I try to migrate this application up to our Quality Assurance environment (which is Windows Server 2003), I get the error in the subject title.

I've read many things that can be the cause of this and I'm positive that I know 2 ways of fixing it. One is from this post: Simple web site problem on Vista, related to <providerOption>, and the other is making sure 3.5 framework is at least installed on the server in question. There are 2 reasons why I'm unable to use these 2 methods:

  • The patches from DVD that I'm supposed to install won't let me install them. Upon double clicking I recieve a message saying the "Update is not applicable to your computer"
  • I don't have permission to install 3.5 frame

Custom tree view for navigating wiki pages

I'm creating an information resource on our intranet (WSS 3.0) using the wiki style format.  The only trick is, unlike a standard wiki, where all pages are directly under the parent, I want to be able to create a customizable tree view where some pages are nested underneath each other.  For example, this particular site talks about all of our different IT systems.  I'll have a wiki page for each system, then underneath each of those pages, there will be more pages for things like training, documentation, etc.  Even though all those pages are at the same level, I need to be able to nest them in a navigational tree view on the quick launch bar.  I suppose if there were also a way to nest the wiki pages themselves, I could just use the pre-packaged tree view.  Anyone have any ideas?

WPF- Treeview--How to add child nodes-- a Bizzare problem-- plz help

so here it is.... in WPF ... Treeview control -- i can add nodes under root node, using XAML code  which is static i hav to add the nodes, using C# code which is dynamic. For Example: Menu Table MenuId       Name       ParentId     1           Country         0     2           India             1     3           USA              1     4           AP                2     5           UP                2     6           California      3     7           Newyork       3 In my C# Code i took a class file in that, i declared the menu() method of type DataTable. Method menu() :- I created a temptable (using DATATABLE CLASS) with same fields(using CLONE()) and filled it with MENU table data and returned that temptable. So now i have data with me. Based on ParentID i can retrieve the child values. but how to add those values to TREEVIEW as its ITEMS There is no---> " treeview1.Items[0].Items.Add() " thing in WPF--- n its creating problem to me. Multiple Child Nodes with For XML Path

I am trying to generate this format of xml and having difficulties because of the properties section. I can have unlimited number of properties and "For XML" tells me it can't generate the same node "Properties/@Name". I have tried several methods online, but can't seem to get it to work. OptionLists> <OptionList Name="Functions"> <Option Value="L9496"> <Properties Name="Description" Value="L9496 - Privacy Lock With Indicator" /> <Properties Name="Locked" Value="False" /> </Option> <Option Value="LV9040" /> <Option Value="L9485" /> </OptionList> </OptionLists>   My SQL currently looks like this: SELECT 'Functions' as '@Name', ( Select coalesce(nullif(No_,''),'NONE') "Option/@Value", Case NO_ when isNull(nullif(NO_,''),null) Then 1 Else 99 END "Option/@Order", 'TRUE' "Option/@Visible", 'FALSE' "Option/@Locked", '' "Option/@ToolTip", '' "Option/@ImageLink", '' "Option/@InfoMessage", 'QtySensitive' "Option/Properties/@Name", Case [Quantity Sensitive] When 0 Then 'False' When 1 Then 'True' End "Option/Propert

Sequential Workflow project unable to compile referencing x64 Workflow Activity Library

Folks -   I have an sequential workflow project targeting x64 that will not compile if the workflow activity library that it references is compiled for x64 (it will compile if the activity library targets x86).  The compile error I receive is: Compilation failed. Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. [project name]   Any thoughts on how to figure this out?   Thanks.

Error Build: Type or namespace could not be found, when referencing a web service

Hello, I'm new in writing C# application in Visual Studio 2008. I'm currently writing a web application for CRM 4.0 Reporting Service rendering. I reference my web application to our Reporting Service web service http://reportservername /ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx and name it 'RSWebReference'. Then I want to reference it in my code: Using RSWebReference; Not sure why, but I cannot build my solution, saying "The type or namespace name 'RSWebReference' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)". I read this thread in http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/74f70e30-83e8-4817-b5e0-7729450730a1 that the website probably is using .net 1.1, and I should change it to .net 2.0. However, I think the website is already using 2.0. Is it probably because I'm using VS 2008? How can I tell and change if the website is using 1.1 or 2.0? Or could I be doing something wrong? Thanks in advanced for your help! -Elizabeth K.

The website is already referencing the assembly

I keep trying to add an assembly reference to my website which doesn't show up anywhere in my code.  Specifically, I would like to add a reference to System.Xml.Linq.dll to my website.  No such reference appears in my web.config file.  Also, when I right click on the website in the Solution Explorer window, go to Property Pages, and then click on References in the left-hand column, System.Xml.Linq does not appear. Yet, when I right-click on the website and go to add reference, I ultimately am met with the error: "The website is already referencing the assembly 'System.Xml.Linq'" Also, when I put a using statement at the top of one of my classes in my App_Code folder for the System.Xml.Linq namespace, the Visual Studio IDE does not flag it as an error. Any insight into this strangeness would be very much appreciated.  I'd like to put this into production someday, and I'm worried it might not work due to a missing reference.  The version I'm currently using is Visual Studio 2010 Professional Edition. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas! Cheers, Andrew

INSERT statement with OUTPUT clause, referencing outer query columns

I have a problem to solve and I have run into what appears to be a limitation of TSQL.  I have looked around and did not find much on this subject, so I apologize if this duplicates another post.  I am using SQL Server 2008. From what I have read on BOL, when you are performing a DELETE or UPDATE statement, you can reference unaffected columns from the outer query in the OUTPUT clause, but this is apparently not allowed in an INSERT statement. I am working on a process that will create new copies of existing records - essentially, the user can create a whole new copy of a set of records, and the process requires that I track both what the original PK values were and the corresponding PK values for the new rows. This example will hopefully spell out my problem.  This script shows two tables, [Primary_Object] and [Secondary_Object].  Not shown here are multiple tables that rely on [Secondary_Table], which is why I have to be able to track this info. This first script shows the setup of the tables involved and the data involved: /* create test data */ create table primary_object ( primary_object_id int identity(1,1), parent_object_id int, name char(1)) create table secondary_object ( secondary_object_id int identity, primary_object_id int, amount money) insert into primary_object (parent_object_id, name) select 0, 'A' insert into secon

Referencing Parent FormView from Embedded FormView

Looking for some direction here.  Thanks in advance for any assistance.   I have a scenario where I have a FormView positioned inside another FormView.  Each FormView is connected to a strongly typed ObjectDataSource (DataObjectName).  The parent FormView is a single record in Read Only mode.  The child FormView is defaulted to Insert Mode.  Can someone tell me how to get the Key Field (and even some of the other fields) from the parent FormView to use during Insert in the Child FormView?  I've tried using a combination of the different events (i.e. OnDataBind, OnInserting, etc.) on the child FormView.  This seems like it should be real simple but I'm just not getting it.   My structure looks as follows:<asp:objectdatasource id="vendor" dataobjecttypename="Vendor"... /> <asp:objectdatasource id="inquiry"... dataobjecttypename="Inquiry" ... /> <asp:FormView datasourceid="vendor" ...> ... <asp:FormView datasourceid="inquiry" ...></asp:FormView> ... </asp:FormView>   Tony

Referencing a linkbutton which is within a formview which is within a gridview template

Hello forum.  I have a gridview (gridview1) which contains a formview(formview1) which formview contains a linkbutton(linkbutton1).  I'm trying to  get the linkbutton's click event to redirect to page2 with a querystring value that's the linkbutton's text value. Something like this:   Response.Redirect("~/Page2.aspx" + "?" + "E=" + LinkButton1.Text)How do I reference LinkButton1's text value in code behind so I can pass it to Page2 through the query? Thank you

xml nodes query on DataContractSerializer string

Hi I need to get a table from this xml, I have some experience using nodes but am getting nowhere on this string.  It is produced from DataContractSerializer on a list with one of the columns a dictionary.  Any help will be much appreciated!  declare @xml xml = ' <ArrayOfArmorDeviceBase xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://server.armor.com/contract/data">   <ArmorDeviceBase xmlns:z="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/" z:Id="i1" i:type="ArmorSimpleDevice">     <Id>5000</Id>     <SiteId>0</SiteId>     <SourceSystem>Armor</SourceSystem>     <DataGroups xmlns:d3p1="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/Arrays">       <d3p1:KeyValueOfstringDeviceDataGroupBaseRRFhSxY9>         <d3p1:Key>CommunicationStatus</d3p1:Key>         <d3p1:Value xmlns:d5p1="http://server.armor.com/contract/data/ControllerStatus" i:type="d5p1:CommunicationStatus">           <Ticks>0</Ticks>           <d5p1:Status>Disco

Moving Backwards in a Dataset for a Repeater

Is it possible to move a repeater backwards through a record set?I'm building a page that will group records by Month showing their StartDate/EndDate as a timeline. The catch is that if the record spans multiple months, it needs to be repeated. In the table below, Record 2 overlaps months. There is no way of knowning how far back the dataset will need to move. It will need to move backwards until it encounters a record that falls entirely within the prior month (I should be able to handle that part). August Record 1                  XXX           Record 2                            XXX September Record 2XXX                             Record 3                            XXX

Is it possible to use a frameset in a Visual Studio 2010 Asp.NET MVC application

A reply to the following post says not:http://forums.asp.net/p/1563210/3879572.aspxIf it is possible, can anyone point me at an example?I'll hasten to add that I've not yet tried this yet - I'm just looking for advice as to if it's possible and if so, the best approach. For instance if using a frameset, is it recommended to have a master page?TIA,Mike
