Problem with Silverlight & WCF service

Posted By: Posted Date: October 03, 2010 Points: 0 Category :SharePoint

Hello,

I've got a silverlight app which calls a WCF service deployed in SharePoint. The entire site is secured by https, so the WCF service is too. When I deploy the Silverlight app, it works ok from the front-end server itself. But when opened from a different machine outside the network, it throws an error: "The remote server returned an error: NotFound". I checked the WSDL, what I noticed is that the port address in the bottom section of the file lists the internal network address. So I tried explicitely hardcoding the correct (internet) address in the constructor of the WCF service object, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

I tried fiddler, but because the site is secured, that's not giving me any clues either. Where can I look next or what could be wrong!?

Problem to obtain client IP on web service

Friends,

I'm having problems to obtain the client IP on web service. Here's my scenario:

One server with Windows 2003, hosting the web service using .Net Framework 2.0, with IP 10.0.2.50 and host name ServerTransaction.
Other server with Windows 2003, hosting a web application using .Net Framework 2.0, that consuming the web service on ServerTransaction, with IP 10.0.2.51 and host name ServerApplication.
Many other computers on the local network (IPs: 10.0.2.80, 10.0.2.81, 10.0.2.82, ...) acessing the web application on ServerApplication.

On the code of the web service I've tried to use HttpContext.Current.Request.UserHostAddress or HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") or HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FORR"), but always I can only get the IP of ServerApplication (10.0.2.51).

Any idea or tip?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

problem compiling web service

Using Visual Studio 2010.

I created a webservice GetDemographicData asmx, GetDemographicData asmx.cs and then used wsdl to create a proxy, then used csc.exe to create dll.

first time when I generate proxy, it looks and works fine, but when I make some changes to my webservice and regenerate proxy the following problems occur:

1.I lost the function: public DataSet Get_GetDemographicData(string CaseNum, int Version)
2. The namespace changed to my-labs

Why?? Please see my code below:

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

the problem of silverlight sildeshow webpart in sharepoint

I added this silverlight sildeshow webpart (http://www.sharepointevolved.com/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?List=0586f39d%2Dc3f2%2D4f6c%2Db61f%2D2a33a3fcd95c&ID=27) which customized a SharePoint data form web part with XML and XSLT to my sharepoint site which uses Active Directory authentication. it looks great (I published the webpage). but after I logout the system account, and login as my regular account with Read permission. the silverlight webpart can't show up. I check the permission of the Picture Library. there is no problem. I can see the pictures in the Picture Library with my regular account.
Anybody has the same problem? how to fix it?

Thanks

Problem with passing an Image as binary through web service

All

I have a web service that is accessed by a windows forms application and receives updates like facility name, address, image etc. Everything works fine except the image data is not being passed to the windows app. I am saving the images in database on both sides, so when I pull it from the server I use the following code

if (!reader.IsDBNull(floorPlanOrdinal))

facility.FloorPlan = (byte[])reader["FloorPlan"];

I can see the facility.FloorPlan Dimentions as 103840 when I debug this method which means that the data is pulled from the database fine.

On the forms side though the dimentions become 0, all other values pass fine except this. Here is the facility property in the web service on server side.

Problem Integration SQL Reporting Service 2005 and SharePoint 2007

Hello, I'm trying to make our SQL Reports available on our SharePoint report center. I have SQL 2005 (sp3) report server that resides on a different server than our SharePoint 2007 server. So in our SRS Configuration Tool, we changed the database mode for SharePoint integration (before, we only had it in native mode), so we created a new database for this SharePoint Integration type. Next, I installed the Report Server Add-in for SharePoint 2007 server and it was successful. However when configuring the Report Server, we got stuck at the step "Grant Database Access". For some reason we keep getting error message "Named instance not found" We already installed Service Pack 3 on the Report Server... I heard that the problem is because the mismatched version between the Report Server Add-in in SharePoint and the SQL RS version... but I don't think this is the case for us. Do we need to install WSS on our Report Server too? Another question: We already integrate our Report Server with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. However I see that when the Report Server is in the SharePoint Integration mode, all the reports in CRM don't work (because Report Manager is no longer available in this mode). Do you think it would be the best practice to install a copy of Report Server instance in our SharePoint 2007 server? Thank you, greatly appreciate all your hel

problem rename sharepoint 2010 search service application admin database

Hi all, i have a problem that hopefully someone has an answer to. i am not too familiar with sharepoint so please excuse my ignorance. we have sharepoint 2010 on a windows 2008r2 server. everything seems to work fine. but as you know, the default database names are horrendous. i have managed to rename all of them, except for the "search service application" admin database. the default is: Search_Service_Application_DB_
the other 2 databases (crawl and property) were renamed without a problem. we are following the article from technet on how to rename the search service admin db (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-nz/library/ff851878%28en-us%29.aspx). it says to enter the following command: $searchapp | Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication -DatabaseName "new database name" -DatabaseServer "dbserver" however, i get an error about identity being null. no big deal, i add the -Identity switch and the name of my search service application. but the real problem comes the error it throws: Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication : The requested database move was aborted as the associated search application is not paused. At line:1 char:54 + $searchapp | Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication <<<< -Identity "Search Service Application" -DatabaseName "ShareP

Problem With SharePoint Designer 2010 and the Search.asmx Web Service

I've created a web service datasource on a 2010 site using SharePoint Designer. When I try to make use of the datasource on a page I get the "The server returned a non-specific error when trying to get data from the data source..." message. The datasource connects to _vti_bin/search.asmx. I am using the QueryServiceSoap port and operation QueryX. I've tried various queryXml strings, including site & people searches using both SQL and keyword syntax. eg <QueryPacket xmlns="urn:Microsoft.Search.Query" Revision="1000"><Query domain="QDomain"> <SupportedFormats><Format>urn:Microsoft.Search.Response.Document.Document</Format></SupportedFormats> <Context> <QueryText language="en-US" type="MSSQLFT"> SELECT Size, Rank, Path, Title, Description, Write, Filename, Description, Author FROM scope() WHERE CONTAINS ('"Lorum"') AND ( ("SCOPE" = 'All Sites') ) ORDER BY "Rank" DESC </QueryText> </Context> <Range><StartAt>1</StartAt><Count>20</Count></Range> <EnableStemming>false</EnableStemming> <TrimDuplicates>true</TrimDuplicates> <IgnoreAllNoiseQuery>true&l

Silverlight enabled web service security error

I tried to create a SL enabled Web Service by following the example from the Microsoft link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197940(VS.95).aspx When I got to step 6 to test the web service that I created (View in Browser), I got the following error: Security settings for this service require 'Anonymous' Authentication but it is not enabled for the IIS application that hosts this service. My IIS is located on my local machine with Windows Integrated Authentication and Anonymous access unchecked. After checking the Anonoymous access checkbo, I still got the above error. I have read other post on the Internet that Silverlight uses BasicHttpbinding but the settings in the web.config file was created by Visual Studio 2010 (running .NET 4.0), so I didn't think I need to mess with it. The following is the section from the web.config: <system.serviceModel> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name=""> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true" /> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <bindings> <customBinding> <binding name=

Delgation via web service problem

Hi, I have an ASP.NET 2.0 web app which calls a one way web method on a web service. This web method contacts remote servers and pulls back config information to confirm the state of new server builds (config, settings etc) and inserts the collected data into a SQL database. The web app is supposed to pass through the callers kerberos ticket to the web service and then again to the newly built server which is being checked, all via impersonation and kerberos delegation using the calling users administrator privileges. The trouble is, I just can't get the web service to run under the callers context. I have the SPN's set up, delegation turned on in the active directory objects for the computer running the web app and service and the worker process domain user service account. I have windows authentication on and impersonation set to true in both the web app and service's web.config, integrated authentication in IIS, and IE settings are all ok. All has been checked out and passes the tests in DelegConfig, but it still won't work. Where am I going wrong? Thanks for any help!

Problem consuming 32bit WCF service which references a native Dll in a 64 bit OS(Windows Server 2008

I have some 32bit Dlls which i want to use it in 64bit OS as i do not have a source code of this to recompile it for 64 bit OS. I have created a x86(32 Bit) WCF service which calls these Dlls and hosted it as a Windows Service on a x64(64 Bit) machine using Windows Server 2008. I have created one more x64 client which calls a function in the WCF which in turn calls a function from the 32 bit native Dll. Whenever i try calling this WCF from the client I get an error as given below. Can anybody please guide as to where I am going wrong and what is needed to solve this issue. silverlight + WCF Service + Dynamic proxy(custom binding) + basic authentication on iis

hi all, I am having an issue with how to get windows identity in silverlight project. Below is my scenario: the silverlight application need to get data from server via WCF service, i used the way that built dynamic proxy at runtime and aslo used custombinding in this case. Now my application need to deploy on iis and chosen "basic authentication" as a authentication mode. Thus i have chosen authentication mode in WCF was " <security authenticationMode="UserNameOverTransport">". At the client side where kind of project is silverlight that i need have to dynamic proxy with custombinding. My question is: In basic authentication how can i get windows identity to set to chanelfactory.Credentials: _channelFactory = new ChannelFactory<TWebService>(this._binding, new EndpointAddress(_endpointAddress)); _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName = new UserNamePasswordClientCredential(); _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName.UserName = "username"; _channelFactory.Credentials.UserName.Password = "password"; actually, i do not want to use Windows a
