Hello World to C# Threading Part 1

In this post we will see how we can implement simple threading. Why do we need threading? When you want you application to do more then one thing at same time, then you need to implement threading. One usual and common scenario would be when your application needs to get data from some other resource like web services and you don't want you application GUI to be freeze during this time. In that sort of case you will run the code to access web services in separate thread so your application GUI won't freeze. The System.Threading namespace .NET provide interfaces to implement multi threading.

Finding Rows in ADO.NET

ADO.NET implements three basic forms to locate Rows - The Find method as applied to the Rows collection, the Find method as applied to the DataView object and the Contains method as applied to the Rows collection.

DataRowCollection Find and Contains Method

The DataRowCollection is a major component of the DataTable. While the DataColumnCollection defines the schema of the table, the DataRowCollection contains the actual data for the table, where each DataRow in the DataRowCollection represents a single row.

You can call the Add and Remove methods to insert and delete DataRow objects from the DataRowCollection. You can also call the Find method to search for DataRow objects that contain specific values in primary key columns, and the Contains method to search character-based data for single words or phrases.

DataView Find and FindRows Method

Using the Find and FindRows methods of the DataView, you can search for rows according to their sort key values. The case-sensitivity of search values in the Find and FindRows methods is determined by the CaseSensitive property of the underlying DataTable. Search values must match existing sort key values in their entirety in order to return a result.

Event ID 1011 - DefaultAppPool World Wid Web Pub. Serv. fatal communication error

We have a Windows 2003 server running IIS6 1.1 Framework. We have also installed a DNS and Active Directory in the same machine.

We're randomly getting the error you can see below. Sometimes it causes the recycling of process w3wp.exe (which on my understanding represents the application pool worker processd) and other times results on this process hanging and not responding to any request. To do iisrest temporarly solves the problem.

We were pointed to a possible permissions problem between the user we were runnig the DefaultAppPool with and registry entries used by the iis. We noticed the default predifined user we used, Network Service, wasn't found in the Active Directory, so we changed it by the default configurable user, IWAM_MACHINE_NAME, which is under the IIS_WPG Active Directory Grupo, which, in theory has the correct permissions to run the application pool.

Well, none of this worked and we are still getting this error.

This is driving us crazy and think the problem might have to do with having the Domain Controller/Active Directory and the IIS6 running on the same machine. We'll try now uninstalling this DC pointing to another one to see what happens.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
