Grab output HTML and write to SQL Server

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 03, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi all -

I've got a requirement to add a feature that will save off a dynamically created asp.net page so it can be recalled and reviewed at a later date. I was thinking of just adding a 'Save' button to the page and in the code-behind using VB to write the output HTML to a varchar(MAX) field in my database.

Does anyone know how (in VB) to grab the entire page HTML so it can be inserted into a database?

Thanks for any help!

Use .html method to output asp.net controls

Is it possible to use the .html method to output something like an asp:label ??  It doesn't seem to work for me unless they're standard html controls.  Here's my JQuery:

$(function() {
    $("#btnContinue").click(function() {
    $('#pre_register').html("<div id='post_register'></div>");
    $('#post_register').html("<asp:Label ID='lblUserName' runat='server' Text='Enter your desired user name:'></asp:Label>")
        .fadeIn(2000, function() {

VB.NET - store HTML code in SQL Server

Hey guys/gals!!

Quick question - I want to allow someone to enter HTML markup in a control, and save the input exactly as entered.

I want people to put a minimum of 50 words, to maximum of 500, and be able to save the formatting of their text in SQL 2005 server database.

Also, I understand this is two questions, but how do I save metadata of an image file in the sql database? I mean, I get the gist of it, but how do I do it?

Thanks everyone!

Generating and storing html pages in User Directories on the server

I come from corporate asp.net development, and I am now working on a public website which will get a lot of traffic, perhaps a million users a day.  So I am faced with a ton of performance and scalability questions.

I would like to share some thoughts and see if my approaches resonate with any good practices, or perhaps I am heading down the wrong path...  Either way, I want to hear opinions.

(My number one concern is the fact that I am using asp.net for a public website.  I don't know of a lot of websites using asp.net)

I am using asp.net 2.0 (I know, its not the latest technology but I don't need any advanced features of asp.net 3.5 or 4, unless there are significant improvements geared towards what I am doing)

On launch date, this will be running on a dedicated Windows Server 2008 running on Intel ATOM 330 1MB L2 Cache 1.6Ghz Dual-Core with 2GB DDR RAM.  Its fully managed by a full service hosting company which gives me an option to upgrade to a bigger server within a few hours.  I can even move the site to a webfarm if the traffic demands it.

So I have a User Dashboard, where users can create albums and upload pictures.  So what I am doing

SQL Server + ASP.NET Security Validation + HTML Markup Security

Hey everyone!I have an application, that for example, the customer gives me their Address. I store it in my database using the below code:        Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("DMBConnstring").ConnectionString         Dim insertSql As String = "INSERT INTO BasicUserProfile(UserGuid, Firstname, Lastname, Nickname, Address1, City, State, Zip, DOB, Gender, SeekingGender, Sexuality, SeekingSexuality, HaveKids, WantKids, BodyType, SeekingBodyType, Ethnicity, SeekingEthnicity, Religion, SeekingReligion, Smoking, SeekingSmoking, Education, SeekingEducation, Relationship, SeekingRelationship) " _         & "VALUES (@UserGuid, @Firstname, @Lastname, @Nickname, @Address1, @City, @State, @Zip, @DOB, @Gender, @SeekingGender, @Sexuality, @SeekingSexuality, @HaveKids, @WantKids, @BodyType, @SeekingBodyType, @Ethnicity, @SeekingEthnicity, @Religion, @SeekingReligion, @Smoking, @SeekingSmoking, @Education, @SeekingEducation, @Relationship, @SeekingRelationship)"         Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("myconnstring").ConnectionString        Dim insertSql As String = "INSERT INTO BasicUserProfile(UserGuid, Firstname, Lastname, Nickname, A

Cube Writeback SQL Server 2008 R2 (SSAS, write back)

CUBE WRITE BACK in SQL SERVER 2008 R2 Did anybody get the SSAS write back functionality to work against a decent sized datawarehouse? I'm not asking about a little demo but a significant sized footprint e.g. 14M Rows measures, 6-8 wired Dimensions with 8-10 attributes each. I setup a test server using a Dell XEON ( 2x4core) with 48 GB RAM hardware and the latest Sql Server 2008 R2 release. I used the What-If scenario in Excel 2010 and modified a higher level, hoping SSAS would push the values down. After about 15 minutes and after having used 48 GB memory (on average 5% CPU) Excel throw an error - short on memory - and stopped the action. I found the same behavior in Sql server 2005 and 2008 and was hoping this would work now but apparently not so. Here are my questions: Is anybody using this at all? how can one calculated (roughtly) how much memory is requiered? is there any paper that describes best practise? Thanks for any help in advance, Dirk

Cannot see output from Print statements executed within SQL Server Management Studio

When I execute a Print statement in a query within Management Studio, I get no output in the Results Pane (Messages tab).  I've worked with Oracle mostly and there I had to enable dbms output in the database session AND enable output within the tool I was using (Quest SQL Navigator) before any output could be seen.  Is there something similar that I need to do when working with SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio? FYI, I DO get output if I use RAISERROR('yadda',16,1), but nothing if I use Print 'yadda'. I appologize if there's an answer to this already in the forums, but I searched and couldn't find it. Thanks, Neil

Interesting problem with getting OUTPUT parameters from SQL Server using C#

 I have the following SP: Create procedure dbo.example(@test INT OUTPUT)ASBEGINSET @test = 5SELECT * from UsersENDGO  and when I try calling it from C# using an SqlCommand with adding an output parameter and getting it's value, I get that the value is NULL. (I should mention that I use ExecuteReader)However,  if I alter the SP and remove the select line, the c# code works and returns the value 5.

Hi Guys,

I know how to write a trigger for a basic insert or update or delete. But here in my case I have to use the below condition and create a trigger.

I havent used any trigger till now in my job. So I am facing a slight problem in understanding and writing the code.....
I got the following requirement to create a new trigger for the following scenario :

The user (john) should be notified when the following happens :

Any transaction entered to account 100 which is not a ABN,CCH,or TTW
Any transaction entered to account 189 which is not a KHD

Description of fields :
100 and 189 are values for AccountCode Column in Account Table
ABN,CCH,TTW and KHD are values for CompanyTypeCode Column in Company Table.
I need to create new trigger on DLT_Data table

SQL server 2005 +asp.net 4.0 +html special characters problems saving special characters

Hello all

Could I please ask - how do I go about inserting into a database special characters such as the uppercase O, umlaut

Please understand that I have been able to insert the special character from inside MMS by putting an N in front of the value

but when I run the  SQL file from inside an ASP.net 4.0 page it comes up as a diamond with a question mark in it

Does anyone have any idea how I would be able to acheive this?
