Interesting behavior ...

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Here is the situation I have. I habe built a package, let's call it a template package. THis package has all stuff such as error handling, execution time capture etc., etc., I have been cpoying this .DTSX file and renaming it appropriately andI ended up with 7 DTSX packages that correspond to my 7 ERP tables. When I set a break point in one of these 7 packages, what I notice is that the other 6 packages have a break point too!! Am I missing something here? WHy would this be, especially since each is its own DTSX file? (all given that some underlying code is exactly the same)

Custom Editing Behavior for DataGridView TextBox Columns

For various reasons I'm using a DataGridView instead of a ListView, and while configuring the DataGridView to look like a ListView wasn't much of a problem, there's one thing that got on my nerves, which is the behavior of textbox cells in edit mode: It is much too easy to leave the edit mode accidentally, simply by pressing the cursor keys at the wrong time. For example when the text caret is positioned behind the last character of the textbox cell content, and you press the right arrow key

Run Button Behavior: Suggestion/Bug

Note: This could be a bug or considered as suggestion. I am not looking for solution.

1: I have ImageWatermark.cshtml open and currently in focus.

2: I have Photo1.jpg selected in left Files workspace.

3: Now if I Click "Run", instead of opening ImageWatermark.cshtml it trys to open Photo1.jpg and it fails.

So ideally I would expect the "open file (ImageWatermark.cshtml) to run rather than running the selection from Workspace.

Word Automation - Multiple DCOM Errors/Behavior

Before I get started, I already know that Microsoft does not support and highly discourages server-based MS Office automation.  I've read a multitude of posts and smarmy "*wink*, here's a link" replies, so I'm looking for actual help here, not condescending reprimands.

That notwithstanding, here is my problem.  I have developed a simple method that will open a local Word document, modify some header information, and then save the document as a new file.  As expected, it works great as a console/windows app, but as soon as I went to ASP.NET, DCOM jacked my world up when accessing the app remotely from a different domain account (that has access to the ASP.NET app.  For reference, my method is shown below:

1 public static string ModifyAndSaveBuildDocument(string localFilePath, BuildDocumentType docType, string buildNumber, DateTime buildDate, string projectName)
2            {
3                try
4                {
5                    ProjectConfiguration config = (ProjectConfiguration)ConfigurationManager.GetSection("ProjectConfiguration");

ModalPopup/UpdatePanel from codebehind, inconsistent behavior onClick

First post bear with me please:

I have a simple form with a list of linkbuttons, each fires the same onclick event which sets an indicator image.  I have a dummy button with style="display:none" which I have set as the TargetControlID of the modal.

onClick event from the imagebutton, the modal is shown via modal.Show().  The cancel button inside the modalpopup fires an event which turns off the indicator image and hides the modal via modal.Hide().

The events fire perfectly, it's very simple!  Although after doing some testing I noticed the modalpopup is not presented after the 6-10th cycle of clicking the open event, then clicking cancel.  The grey background appears but it is behind the main panel and the modal is either presented behind this or is just simply not displaying.

I spent hours researching various methods, implemented the CancelControlID to see if it was somehow tied to my call of modal.Hide() that fails.

This occurs with an updatepanel only.  The behaviour is much cleaner this way, so I would hope to be able to implement this.  I have basically eliminated everything but these two events!  Please help

Bizzare behavior of Digest authentication with HttpListener.

While trying to use Digest authentication with HttpListener, I expected it to act fairly close to how Basic does. Basic works fine with no surprises. With Digest, however:

  1. HttpListener/http.sys driver takes on itself to authenticates user, without even passing request to my code (listener.GetContext() never gets unblocked) so ASP.NET application never has a chance to authenticate the user. I can see responses generated by "Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0" with WWW-Authenticate headers. I thought application should have a chance to authenticate the request with Digest user identity in the header. Is it possible to do?
  2. While insisting on Digest-authenticating users on its own, "Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0"/HttpListener/http.sys successfully authenticates domain users, but not computer users. I tried user name that includes computer name, realm name, computer name in the FQDN format - nothing works. Why such inconsistency?

Thank you,

Vlad.

Customer Segmentation based on purchase behavior

Hi I am trying to use MS clustering algorithm to segment our customers, just based on customer purchase behavior, we have two tables:   --customer table create table dm_msdm.scmolstp_city_mcc_accounts( olst_txn_acct_nbr character varying(19) NOT NULL ); --customer purchase table create table dm_msdm.scmolstp_city_mcc_aggregated( olst_txn_acct_nbr character varying(19) NOT NULL, olst_mcc_code numeric(4,0), olst_mcc_count integer, olst_mcc_total_amt numeric(11,2));   I learned that the MS_Sequence_clustering algorithm can deal with nest table , but in my case the sequence of stores(olst_mcc_code) is not important, how can I do this.   SQL Server 2008 GUI does not allow us to choose the MS_sequence_clustering algorithm, but only the clustering algorithm, does it mean if we use nest tables then MS_sequence_clustering algorithm is automatically chosen?

Times series behavior ( predict and predict only)

hi all, This is my question: I forecast the number of ticket and our revenue for our 20 point of sales .First,  We put all this time series in the same strucutre and we mark revenue and number of ticket as predict. So MTS will try to forecast this value and the correlation between this time series will be considered  . This time we think that's the MTS must evaluate each time series separly so we put the measures predict only ( We think that there is no relationship between revenue on Tunis and revenue in Sfax ,Two tunisian region ). We fund that the first structure with Revenue and ticket marked as predict . Is more accruate than the other murked as predict only. Can any one help us to understand this behaviour ?

Sign outgoing body from client with custom endpoing behavior defined in code

I'm trying to sign (and sign only) the body of every outgoing message that uses this custom endpoint behavior.  When I first created this it was for signing a custom SOAP header.  We are moving away from that and going to just sign the body.  We have some applications that have 10+ web service references.  We don't want to touch the reference.cs for anything.  Below is the code I had before for signing the custom soap header.  I'm trying to modify it to just sign the body.  My modified code is below, and the error I get. Private Class CustomHeaderBehavior Implements ServiceModel.Description.IEndpointBehavior Public Sub New() End Sub Private Sub AddBindingParameters( _ ByVal endpoint As ServiceModel.Description.ServiceEndpoint, _ ByVal bindingParameters As ServiceModel.Channels.BindingParameterCollection) _ Implements ServiceModel.Description.IEndpointBehavior.AddBindingParameters Dim body As New Xml.XmlQualifiedName("Body", "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/") Dim BodyMsgPartSpec As New ServiceModel.Security.MessagePartSpecification() BodyMsgPartSpec.IsBodyIncluded = True Dim requirements As ServiceModel.Security.ChannelProtectionRequirements = bindingParameters.Remove(Of ServiceModel.Security.ChannelProtectionRequirements)() requirements

Strange Authentication Behavior...

I have an installation of SSRS 2008 that is exhibiting some very odd behavior with regards to authentication and permissions. I have SSRS installed on a box called SERVER1 and I'm a local admin on the box and an Administrator on the SSRS instance. This box has an IP address of 192.20.21.23 When I go to the Report Manager URL, I see everything I should (Home, Site Settings, etc.) I'm able to go in and set up security and create folders and everything. What's odd is that if I use the IP address instead of the server name in the Report Manager URL, I get to the home page but there is nothing displayed, only Home, My Subscriptions, and Help. There are no report folders visible and the options available to admins aren't visible. One thing that may shed some light on things: if I do a ping -a on the IP address, it resolves to the host name. If I ping the host name, I get back a reply from ::1: I have no idea why permissions would differ between a host name and an IP address if they're the same server?? Any insight would be appreciated!A. M. Robinson

Async Web Service behavior on client disconnect

Hi all, I was wondering what is the best way to detect client disconnect in the middle of an async web service call. I'm asusming that if a client disconnects while the server is still processing the async web method call, an exception will be thrown. First, I wonder if someone can confirm that this is the right assumption. If that's the case, then I was wondering where should I set up the SEH block to catch this exception. My gut tells me to set up the SEH block in side the delegate funciton, but I might be wrong. Also, what kind of an exception would I be getting if the client disconnects? Finally, if the SEH is set up in the delegate, what happens if a client disconnects in the tiny window before or after the delegate gets called? If someone can shed some light here I'd really appreciate it! Thanks, - K.

Can someone explain this assembly in WSP deployment behavior?

I was building a SP timer Job feature. Upon successive feature deployment and retractions using the Visual Studio environment the code changes were not being deployed. I dug around and found this in the AssemblyInfo.cs // You can specify all the values or you can default the Build and Revision Numbers // by using the '*' as shown below: // [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.*")] So I changed what was the following line from [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.0.0")] to the stated [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.*")] and all is well (yippee). This seems to make good sense to me. But why is it not the default build/deploy setting? Is there an IDE interface for this setting. Is it related to the the Solution Configuration or build target or an IIS reset timing or GAC cache.....anything like that?

Interesting error message with content organiser: Cannot resolve mailbox (null) to a valid user

Here is a site with content organiser site feature enabled, as well as the email integration feature. Emails are successfully delivered to the "Submitted Email Records" list, but is never routed to the Drop Off Library. (the content organiser web service works fine and the drop off library works as a custom send to destination and happily processes its rules. If I turn up the debug juice I get the error "Cannot resolve mailbox (null) to a valid user" for every item in any "Submitted Email Records" in the site collection. Area: Document managagement Category: Content organiser EventID: 8000 Message: Cannot resolve mailbox (null) to a valid user I have temporarily worked around the problem by email enabling the drop off library but it creates an intermittent race condition (similar to certain workflow and event receiver situations), so its not a real solution (and in fact I assume thats why the Submitted Email Records hidden list exists in the first place). I've run procmon, specifically focusing on OSWTIMER and nothing interesting shows up at all. The error message is intriguing and I can't really think of what it is trying to do. In troubleshooting I noted that this farm had configured inbound email but not outbound email. I have since rectified this and de/reactivated the content organiser features and reset the timer service and IIS, b

Weird behavior

I've made this "Minify" class that inherits from MemoryStream and I want to use it to minimise the amount of whitespace in for example css and javascript files. To begin with I'm not doing anything complex just a simple replace.using System;using System.Collections.Generic;using System.Linq;using System.IO;using System.Text;using System.Web;using System.Text.RegularExpressions;namespace Output{    public class Minify : MemoryStream    {        private Stream stream = null;        public Minify(Stream stream)        {            this.stream = stream;        }        public override void Write(byte[] buffer, int offset, int count)        {            string content = UTF8Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buffer);            content = LimitWhitespace(content);            stream.Write(UTF8Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(content), offset, UTF8Encoding.UTF8.GetByteCount(content));        } &nbs

WPF Window as Modal Dialog, strange behavior

Hopefully someone has a clue.... My application displays WPF Window as a modal dialog box. The dialog box has a few child user controls, one of which has combo box. When the user clicks this combo box to select... the whole dialog disappears except of the innards of the combo box. So the user only sees the list box of the combo box. Here are the details I got from the  client: The window itself is launched from non WPF application (Lotus Notes). This happens only on a few machines. The OS is Windows XP SP3. There is no issue with the parent handle, windows owner, etc... I've seen this behavior during the development phase, only when running under a debugger.    Thanks, Michael

Exception Behavior en WCF

Hi, Can anyone tell me why if I have a code like this     public class ServicioFaults : IServicioFaults     {         public double Dividir(double a, double b)         {             if (b == 0.0)             {                 throw new DivideByZeroException();             }             else             {                 return a / b;             }         }     } the service always steps into the else when I'm debugging? best regardsLuis Diego Rojas. http://icomparable.blogspot.com MCP, MCTS Biztalk Server
