error sending SOAP data to http://localhost/myWCFService/MyWCFService.svc

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I am a beginner with WCF services, trying to learn. I created a WCF service where MyWCFServiceInterface has service and data contracts. MyWCFService class implements this interface and has two methods that connect to sqlServer DB to run Sprocs to fetch data. I am hosting this WCFService using IIS6.0. I created a webclient to test the service, which works fine. When I call the service using soap request I get the following error: Could not POST file MyWCFService/MyWCFService.svc on server localhost(415). error sending SOAP data to http://localhost/MyWCFService/MyWCFService.svc

Please check the following wsdl and the soap request and suggest corrections. I greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.

Compilation Error - http://localhost

When trying to run my application before uploading to my hosting provider I receive this compilation error in my browser when I type in http://localhost but when I build by application in VS2010 I receive no errors.  Has anyone encountered this problem before?

HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden

(VB Express website directed me to ASP.NET Web Services which in turn redirected me to this forum).

Hopefully someone can help me here......

I am using VIsual Web Developer and downloaded the small business application to use as a starting point to help my wife get a website up for her small business. When I load the application, I can F5 and it runs fine but as soon as I make any modification to the app and hit F5, I get the HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden when it tries to show the website.

I notice a pop up that occurs when I run that allows me to choose the link for my app and it displays correctly (I close the webpage that has the error on it).

This seems like a pain, is there a setting I'm missing - I would think that this should "just work".

What's up?????

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

  • when i type http://localhost/reportmanager, i found the error:

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found

MSMQ and .NET: Send MSMQ Messages Securely Across the Internet with HTTP and SOAP

When creating a distributed system you frequently need to provide for communication between two entities that are not in sync. Microsoft Message Queue Server (MSMQ) provides the kind of store-and-forward messaging in a pre-built infrastructure that can help you address these kinds of messaging needs. In the past, MSMQ was accessed using a COM wrapper. Now there's a .NET wrapper that lets you accomplish your messaging goals easily from your Framework-based code. To illustrate the use of the wrapper, the author builds a messaging application, sends MSMQ messages over the Web, and discusses messaging security.

DIME: Sending Files, Attachments, and SOAP Messages Via Direct Internet Message Encapsulation

Direct Internet Message Encapsulation (DIME) is a new specification for sending and receiving SOAP messages along with additional attachments, like binary files, XML fragments, and even other SOAP messages, using standard transport protocols like HTTP. In this article, the author explains what DIME is and how it differs from MIME encapsulation. A detailed description of the message format and how it is parsed, as well as working with SOAP and extending it with WSDL, is also included.

Business Data Error: System.OverFlowException

I have a Business Data Catalog file I've uploaded to connect to our back end Firebird DBMS through ODBC.

The SharePoint server is MOSS 2007 x64. The web front end server(s) all have an x64 Firebird Engine and ODBC driver with verified connectivity to Firebird.

When I use one of the methods, I can see connections being made to our Firebird server and the query being passed. I know the query returns results (it's a stored procedure with no parameters), but I get the following error "An error occurred while retrieving data from MROTest1. Administrators, see the server log for more information" in IE. If I look in the server logs, I see (12\Hive\Logs)

Exception handed to HandleRuntimeException.HandleException System.OverflowException: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.     at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcDataReader.GetData(Int32 i, SQL_C sqlctype, Int32 cb, Int32& cbActualOut)

"An error occurred while retrieving data from Oracle Instance..."

I have succeffuly Imported the ADF and have also successfully created a Business Data Column. But when I try to query data , I get the following error

An error occurred while retrieving data from Oracle Instance. Administrator, see the server log for more information

And this is what I found in the Application Logs
A Metadata Exception was constructed in App Domain '/LM/W3SVC/81256521/ROOT-1-129217212004078822'. The full exception text is: LobSystem could not be found using criteria 'id=476'.

HTTP 400 Bad Request Error when uploading to document library

I am running MOSS 3007 Standard on Windows 2003. When trying to upload files larger than about 29Mb, I am getting an HTTP 400 Bad request error. The error states "HTTP Error 400 - Request is badly formed." I am able to successfully upload a 28Mb file. Sharepoint is configured to accept files up to 75Mb.

I have done a fair amount of research on this, but none of the solutions seem to apply to our environment. The two most likely candidates do not apply, for example we are NOT running URLScan (there are a variety of solutions suggesting this could be an issue with uploads of 30Mb or more), and we are on 2003 with IIS6, so again the issue relating to 2008 and IIS7 do not apply.

The "Request is badly formed" part of the request is particularly confusing as most issues I have come across where this error is the symptom point to errors in custom code that is trying to talk to SharePoint. We have done none of our own custom coding and this error is occurring when attempting a simple upload to a document library.

Trying to drag and drop the file across when the document library is open in windows explorer also fails.

I did come across someone saying they had a similar problem which was caused by a damaged content database, however in this case, it is occuring regardless of which content database I use, so either they are all corrupt
