I'm starting work on a Visual Studio Add-in and need some basic information between choosing a simple VS Add-In Project or DXCore based add-in. My primary requriements:
- Support VS2008 and VS2010 IDEs.
- Read/write access to Solution/Projects/Classes/Methods (with their meta data, e.g. I'd like to add attributes and comments to methods or classes)
- Drawing access to code editor windows (e.g. I'd like to change background color of a particular class or method and set it to a gradient). I have good knowledge of GDI+ and System.Drawing namespace, but don't know how to access the editor's device context.
I don't have any working knowledge of DXCore, but have done some work with VS add-ins in the past. Anyone who could help me with the decision of choosing between VS or DXCore, including learning curve difficulty. Thanks a lot in advance.
