Filter on web part not working for certain columns

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 02, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi all,

I have a list of "Faults" - this contains the Shop Number that the fault was logged against (which is a lookup column to the "Shops" list), who logged the fault ("Created By") and the details of the fault ("Title").

If I add the list as a web part and filter by Created By, it works perfectly - I get multiple entries in the list for all faults logged by a certain person.

However, if I filter by a Shop Number - I only get a handful of entries in the list, going back a few days - anything older than that is simply not there.

Yet if I go to the main page for the Faults List (AllItems.aspx) and change to Datasheet view - the filter works perfectly, I can see EVERY entry for a particular Shop when filtering on Shop Number.

Any ideas? It only seems to happen when using a Web part OR a DFWP - as a result, I can't pass the Shop Number as a filter parameter to it, nor can the users see a complete history of faults when viewing individual shops.

I've no idea what has changed recently, other than deletng some custom views we had created in the Faults list - could this have caused a problem? Can the Faults list be "reset" somehow without losing any data? To clarify - it's ONLY happenning when the list is viewed as a web part of DFWP, when it's viewed in Datasheet m

Filter search over multiple text columns

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a library that stores information on various cases. The case table has several columns that contain descriptive strings on what happened in the case. I would like to create a single filter that returns all cases where the search string is found in any of the columns. I've looked at Dynamic Data Filtering, but as far as I can tell, the "Contains" filter only allows you to connect to each column individually. Has anyone tried this?

How to pass a parameter from a choice filter with project IDs to a KPI web part?

I have an excel pivot table like this:

Report Filter: Project ID
proj_name     Status
A              70
B              60
C              80

I have this workbook published onto Sharepoint server through excel services.
On the site i have a choice filter that has all the project ID's. I am able to show this table in a web part and filter the web part by passing parameter from the choice filter to the report filter in the workbook as shown above.
I added a KPI webpart that uses the "status" from the above table as its indicator value. What I want to do is that I want to pass the parameter from the choice filter on the site to this KPI web part so that it will show me the corresponding status dynamically accoring to the project chosen.
Can someone help me solve this problem?

Hi this method is working fine need filter how

private void GetData()
        for (int i = 0; i < Gridview1.Rows.Count; i++)
            DataView dv = (DataView)SqlDataSource1.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty);
            DataRowView drv = dv[i];

Web Part working fine on the top-level page but 'Not Safe' error on lower-level pages.

I have created a Web Part which reads and parses the SharePoint logs in order to display usage information of the page it resides on.  The Web Part works perfectly on the top page, reading and displaying the information desired.  However, once the Web Part is added to any page lower in the site heirarchy (sub-page) the same Web Part throws the following error:

Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type could not be found or it is not registered as safe.

Of course the current version of the Web Part is in the SafeControls list on the web.config.

The Web Part was originally designed to return site activity only for the top default.aspx page and worked fine but started to fail in the manner described above once I added the following line of code to return a SPCo

Hiding and showing the columns depends upon the filter condition

H,   We developed around 70 ssrs reports for our new application.Its like,all the report names are menrioned in the left hand side and if we click it,.Net calls the SSRS reports and shows the filters in the top of Right hand side.   We will select some filters there and then 'GO', it will fetch records. The issue now is, assume we have 6 columns in the report and depends upon the selection in the filter area, the columns should vanish.is it possible?

Why is the Content by Query Web Part CommonViewFields attribute not working as expected?

I am using the Content by Query Web Part to show data from a Custom List.  I have already added to the XSL "ItemStyle" sheet so that I can pick the correct Item Style.  That has worked fine - I have been able to show whatever fields I would like and apply any CSS Styles I would like to them.  The issue I am having is in formatting the field correctly.  I have two different fields in my current example that need to be formatted: [1] I want to show an Image, but right now it shows the URL  [2] I want to show Rich Text, but right now it shows all the HTML Code as Plain Text.  I have looked at many articles online, and they all tell me to change the following in the WEBPART file from: <property name="CommonViewFields" type="string" /> to: <property name="CommonViewFields" type="string">Thumbnail, Image;Teaser, RichHTML;</property> What I am doing wrong?  The Web Part still runs, but it does not format the fields any differently.  Thanks for the help!

Can the default member for the sql server analysis filter web part be a mdx expression or not

I have designed a dashboard , some parametrized reports ( on date and time) in my case with a cube as datasource, added an analysis services 2005 filter, connected it to the reports. The issue concerns the default value for the filter . I f I choose [Date Local].[Calendar Hierarchy].[All] it works well. But the business requirement is to use the last day where there have been registered a measurement which in my case looks like the following mdx expression: Tail( Filter ([Date Local].[Date Key].[Date Key].Members , ( ( [Advisor Organisation].[Advisor organisation].[Contact Center].&[Denmark]&[Kundelinjen], [Measures].[Calls Offered] , [Date Local].[DK Holiday].&[False] , [Date Local].[Week Day].&[True] ) > 0 ) ), 1).Item(0).Item(0) The expression is all right as I use it in my report as an mdx filter expression. But when I use apply it I get an invalid dafault member value. So the question is : Does the filter support an mdx expression ? If yes, is there another syntax or change in order to make it work ? Thank you a lot for your answer.

Help with part of my footer not working right in IE7

I have two div's that make up my footer... One has a list of hyperlinks the other has a copywrite.  The hyperlinks css works fine and falls right after the content of the page. However the copywrite div does not work in IE 7 it seems that the float left does not seem to be working... Can someone give me some suggestions on how I can get this div to stay at the bottom of my page too..  #Copywrite { font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 50%; margin-left: 12px; text-align: left; float: left; width: 180px; clear: left; position: relative; } #hyperlinksList { font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 70%; text-align: right; float: right; margin-right: 12px; margin-bottom: 12px; width: 575px; clear: both; color: #0076CC; }

Image stretch inside a grid stops working horizontally once columns are added to grid.

I have a simple setup of a window. Window contains a grid, inside the grid there is an image. I want the image to always stretch across the entire cell. I've set it's Stretch property to Fill and it works fine, as long there is only one column in the parent grid. As the window is resized, the image stretches correctly. As soon as I add another column, the image stops stretching horizontally. Vertially it works just like before, horizontally it now appears with a fixed width corresponding to the width of the picture used as the source. Does not matter which column it's positioned in, and I've tried encapsulating it into another grid but behaviour does not change. It behaves the same in both Visual studio 2010 designer and at runtime. In addition when I tried to encapsulate it in a second grid, this seond grid also now has altered behavior - instead of sizing itself to it's container (both height and width are not set) as it's parent grid does, it now sizes itself to its contents - the image. But only horizontally. What is going wrong here, is this a bug or am I missing something, and any advice on how I can get the image to fill one of the cells of a grid with more then one column?

Target audiences not working in excel services web part

My appologies i posted this originally in the pre-2010 forum So i'm reposting here: We have recently upgraded to Sharepoint 2010 and we're experiencing problems with the "target audience" field being available to the users. I am not the CA admin though so it'll make this a bit tough to get solved if the problem is there. What i'm looking for are the suggestions of things for me to forward to the CA admin to change or check if anything. We have a seperate Virtual Machine that is running 2010 that has this option available to users on that farm for some reason. however on our corporate farm we don't have that option available. Plus on top of this the quick launch items are not working with audiences as well to turn off the headers to links that have nothing in them due to security trimming on document libraries. I'm hoping that this being a more of an overview of things to check would help others who may have this problem as well. I've seen resolutions such as rebooting the server and such, however that's a bit lower level and we need some higher level things to check that may resolve the issue. Think the simple stuff first to check and lets work down the list. Doesn't matter how stupid it is but can we get a more compiled list of things to check to make sure that target audience visibility to users is enabled? Thanks!

Out-of-box filter stops working as soon as I "Configure Datasource"

I'm running VWD 2008 Express with ASP.NET 3.5 I realize now that 4 has much better filtering controls, but I didn't realize that when I started my project.  Anyway, when I use the standard List.aspx to display a table, the filtering works just fine (yes, it's only foreign keys and booleans, but it works).  I then modify the linq datasource so that the gridview only displays the columns that I want, and the filter function immediately stops working.  You can choose from the drop down lists, but nothing happens.  As an aside, I don't want to set scaffolding to false for those columns because I do want them to show up in the Edit.aspx page.  My understanding is that scaffolding settings would keep the field from showing up in either page. What do I need to include in either the gridview or the linqdatasource to get the filter working again?   Thanks!

MS Filter pack for Zip files content search not working

I am facing a problem related to Zip files content search. Searching of content inside zip files doesn't return in search results. But searching for zip file name returns filename in search results.
